Prost
Has anyone else heard this yet? I just listened to it today and being a huge fan of the Band, it's not that bad. Obviously the songs are not the same as The Band - I don't think anyone will be able to top them - but it is interesting to hear other artists' takes on the many great songs that the Band produced. Here's the track listing and the artist's who perform each song: 1. I Shall Be Released -- Jack Johnson 2. The Weight -- Lee Ann Womack 3. It Makes No Difference -- My Morning Jacket 4. When I Paint My Masterpiece -- Josh Turner 5. Unfaithful Servant -- Roseanne Cash 6. Rockin' Chair -- Death Cab for Cutie 7. King Harvest -- Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers 8. Whispering Pines -- Jakob Dylan w/ Lizz Wright 9. Chest Fever -- Widespread Panic 10. Lookout Cleveland -- Jackie Greene 11. This Wheel's on Fire -- Guster 12. Up on Cripple Creek -- Gomez 13. Stage Fright -- Steve Reynolds 14. Night They Drove Old Dixie Down -- Allman Bros. Band 15. Rag Mama Rag -- Blues Traveler 16. Life Is A Carnival -- Trevor Hall 17. Acadian Driftwood -- The Roches Some highlights for me: **MMJ's version of "It Makes No Difference" - amazing!! **Widespred Panic's version of Chest Fever is interesting, you definately know it's Panic **Bruce Hornsby's version of King Harvest is very different for the original but enjoyable. There are a lot of good tracks so give it a listen.

Jaimoe
I think I posted this months ago when this comp was announced. I'm glad you've listened to it. I guess you skipped Jack Johnson and Jakob Dylan. If not, how bad are they on this CD?

Northern Wish
Boooo to Future Shop!!!I went across town in the bitter cold to pick this up on Tuesday since it was in their NATIONAL FLYER.Not one copy in the store. None on order, none were shipped to them.Head office in Burnaby definitely heard from me.Seriously, does anyone else out there hate the Future Shop like I do?AD, got a sspace link for the bonus?Sean
Prost
I agree that the ALO versio of Ophelia is wicked....I don't understand why they wouldn't include it on the main compilation. There are a bunch of songs I would have replaced for that one. I do like the Guster version of This Wheel's On Fire. NewRider
I hate Future Shop with a passion! They do always advertise shit they don't have and it pisses me off! I've dealt with this by always calling ahead. I'm going to download this album tonight, anyone got any spare CD-R's?
zero
I am sure I am going to hate most of this disc.
Blurry
Right idea - wrong conceptlooks pretty forgettable to me. Would much rather hear the real thing.
timouse
while it's not terrible, it's not taking the misuc very far. i found myself listening to it thinking "geez, they almost nailed that." i then went and listened to the real deal and was much happier. bradm
There's a band out there covering songs by The Band; naturally, they call themselves "The Band Cover Band Band."http://www.archive.org/details/TheBandCoverBandBandAloha,Brad
Northern Wish
Thanks for that BradM.Anyone care to comment on the tribute album?I for one hate half of the songs and love half. My favorite is Hornsby, Panic and believe it or not Womack. The Stage Fright and Life is a Carnival are painful.Overall, I'd give it an 8 if they hadn't ripped me off of four songs (see other countries import versions): 7/10.
