slavetothegroove
Hey all. Since being in Ottawa I haven't been to any beaches or lakes at all. Being from the east I miss my salty sandy playground, and I don't think anything will compare around here, but if any of you have suggestions of clean, fairly secluded places to go swimming around Ottawa, no more than an hour or so away, it would be much appreciated. Matt and I are heading to spend a day on the water tomorrow if anyone would like to join us. Thanks and happy sunshiny weekend to you Steph

bouche
Gatineau's Lac Leamy isn't really all that great, but it is across from the casino (good for fireworks tonight if they have it open) and in a nice park. The Gatineau park sports shit loads of lakes. I believe there's a popular nudie beach somewhere (thanks Ottawa Sun). Along the Ottawa River on the Gatineau side, there is a sweet little beech spot about 1 km east of the Westboro bridge.
Pablo Sanchez
Constance Bay has a sweet beach. nice swimming. probably 35 mins away.
Dr_Evil_Mouse
Check out the spots along the Ottawa River Parkway/Carling Ave. It's a beautiful stretch of the river, and the beaches seem to be altogether fine.Meech Lake, in Gatineau Park, has a couple of nice beaches, though you have to pay for parking, and the bacteria may or may not be an issue; that info should be online. slavetothegroove
Yeah we ended up going to Gatineau Park and swimming at the Obrien beach. Very tiny, but was nice to take a dip. We hiked around the trails a bit too which was also really nice.

traveler
In town if not to fussy you could swim at the Rideau River. Revelstoke of Riverside brings you to an unknown park on the Rideau. Also there is McCay lake in Rocklife Park-of Beachwood. See ya there!
