djmelbatoast
I missed the first 10 minutes of Heroes for that game. Awesome stuff.
Hal Johnson
Beckett was dominant last night. He keeps this up, no reason why he shouldnt, my prediction of the Angels coming out of the AL is going to look mighty stoopid.
djmelbatoast
Grand Slam Matsui!I don't know if they have the pitching to win the World Series, but I think they have got the best lineup of the playoff teams out there.Reminds me of the Jays of the early 90's. No real holes in their line-up especially 1 through 6. Edited October 4, 2007 by Guest
Hal Johnson
Ya, no shit. Theyre lineup is relentless. So balanced. I think itd be great for Helton to win, hes one of those guys that decided to stay with his team cuz he wants to win there. Major kudos to him for that. Also, hes one point behind Ichiro for best batting average amongst active players/career.
guigsy
the leadoff men (for both teams) in this game are accounting for 9 ribbies so far... thats incredible.
badams
A nice story...Besides their surprising 14-1 finish to the season, the Colorado Rockies are giving baseball fans another reason to cheer for them this postseason. The widow of Rockies minor league coach Mike Coolbaugh, who died after getting hit by a line drive this season, will be granted a full share of the team's playoff winnings after a team vote.Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said the gesture spoke volumes about the quality of the character in their locker room."I was passed on the information that they voted Amanda Coolbaugh a share, a full share, which I found speaks to their awareness, speaks to their passion, speaks to every good thing about them," Hurdle said.Coolbaugh, who is 32 and pregnant, won't attend Saturday's Game 3 of the NLDS between the Phillies and Rockies at Coors Field. But her two sons, Joseph, 5, and Jacob, 3, will be in attendance and will throw out the first pitch."When I heard about what the players did, I almost cried," Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd said. "This was the players' idea. I think it's remarkable."Mike Coolbaugh was a first base coach for the Tulsa Drillers. The former major leaguer was killed July 22.Shaken by Coolbaugh's death, Rockies first base coach Glenallen Hill now wears a helmet.Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki said awarding the family a share was the right thing to do."We're obviously happy with the decision,'' Tulowitzki said on Thursday. "I hope they are, too, and I'm sure they will be.''
guigsy
^^^ that is awesome.how bout the indians, eh? holy shit, they took it to the yanks last nite. despite the 6 walks, i thought sabathia was great - i dont think he was as "wild" as he was "just missing" perfect spots, and thats gonna happen against a line-up like the yankees have.. he was overpowering when he was in the zone, and aside from the couple homers, they barely got any good wood on the ball. the jake was absolutely electric last nite - no doubt that helps the home team. What a hit.Watched my first ever Ball game in Hi-def the other night, man its awesome! You could basically count the individual bugs on that poor Yankee pitcher's neck. Crazy! Hal Johnson
Everyone stop watching after the first round?Beckett VS Sabathia on Fri. Im gonna take Bosox to win this series, even though I would much rather see the Tribe do it. Should be a good one though.Crossing fingers for Colorado to come out of the National League. guigsy
with the teams left, i think the best world series scenario is colorado vs. cleveland, so thats what im hoping for.but the streak the rockies are on is almost too good... whats it up to now, 17-1 or something crazy? ya gotta figure they're due to lose soon, but how?? im not really sold on arizona..that 1-2 punch the indians have with sabathia and carmona is awesome.. if they can get out of boston up 2, goodnight red sox... if not, i think its the Sox series to lose once they're done with cleveland's aces... boston's pitching is deeper, and they have lots more post-season experience... pretty much why i think they'd steam roll either of the NL teams, too. Hal Johnson
Question: How in the hell did Tony Fernandez get away with blowing the last World Series for the Tribe? Or maybe Im a little premature, if they make it, we'll probably hear about it a bunch.
Freak By Night
I can't see anyone stopping the Red Sox at this point! Ortiz is on a mission.
Hal Johnson
Ya, Id say Beckett is too, even though he's only pitched once. Given his last WS performance, the guys pretty much unhittable around this time. Hope Im jinxing him!
