Uncle Chaos
1994 was our year baby. I haven't cared about baseball since. This might not be the best thread for you, then. Go Jays Go!
Jaimoe
Even though it's spring training, I can't imagine a worse announcing tandem than what's on CityTv right now for the Jays-Reds game. City sports announcer bald Hugh Burrill doing play-by-play and news anchor Gord Martineau adding expert and insightful colour. It gets better: BreakfastTV's Jennifer Valentyne did a jazzy version of the Canadian anthem. You'd think the Jays organization could have gotten a couple of their 4000 employed announcers doing nothing to call the game.
afro poppa
Holy bananas I couldn't agree with you more! There team is awful...its making the game quite painful to watch. On another note though huge dinger for Stairs
Jaimoe
In fairness, it's not all horrible. It is only spring training and City's Kathryne Humphries' roving reporting is pretty entertaining. She is one of the best and funniest sports announcers in the country. The Fan's fluff-reporter Barb DiGiulio is more in her element doing spring training nothing stories. Jaimoe
Shameful broadcast. It was nothing more than a giant Rogers infomercial.
Jaimoe
City also cut to a break DURING a homerun.
Jaimoe
If I asked the director and/or producers of today's broadcast why they cut to a comercial break during a homerun, no matter what they answered, they would be wrong.
afro poppa
Yea it was very strange. I guess it's spring training for everyone, including the broadcasters, but personally I could've done a better job at doing colour commentary and PBP than those guys. They never seemed to know who was on the field at what time and they never really gave good insight in to what was going on.On the plus side, the Jays finally won and it was nice to see some baseball on TV! So stoked for this season.

Hal Johnson
That broadcast was awesome! It was like a grade 7 class project or something. I couldnt handle another one this season, but they should make it an annual spring training thing. Once a year, just for S&G's.
afro poppa
no more Janssen. Out for the season...bummer
LXQ42
It is a bummer. Though I really didn't see him in the starting rotation, he would have been a most reliable reliever. They must be glad to have gotten Armando Benitez for the releif staff with Janssen out. After watching Chacin's start yesterday, looks like Jesse Litch is the logical choice for the 5th starter. He had a monster game in his last outing. Litch has been producing and improving all spring. Edited March 12, 2008 by Guest
djmelbatoast
The question is though: Has he finally put a curve in his hat?I hate that.
LXQ42
You know, I don't think he has....still a punk kid, but a pretty good pitcher. Edited March 12, 2008 by Guest
Jaimoe
Chacin is finished. Nice guy, but his fastball against the Yanks was barely scratching 80mph, which would be excellent if he were a knuckleballer.
Hal Johnson
Really?? 80? Wow...that's bad. Was it his first start? What were they saying?
