localcrew
Pretty wild. This eruption could go on for days, months or years....which of course could be a huge problem for the northern European airlines and travelers besides causing other problems of course.I wonder how Bjork's island is doing? phishtaper
reports are saying this will easily cost the airlines $1 billion in losses and could result in food shortages in northern europe within the week because nothing is getting anywhere right now. and the geologists are saying there are no signs that the volcano is going to stop anytime soon. we could become dinosaurs. localcrew
Well the last time they had a significant eruption at this volcano (about 200 years ago) it went on for a year and a half so the airlines had better figure something out quick because there's no saying this won't continue for even longer.Time to bring back the Titanic? Birdy
KLM and Lufthansa are flying test flights with no reported damage, and BA is soon to hit the skies too (for test flights). Also reported that by tomorrow, 50% of the airspace over UK/Northern Europe should be clear. Which is hopeful, as I'm due to land at Heathrow at 6.30 Tuesday morning!
