It just happens that today is the 50th anniversary of the discovery of DNA. Once the human genome is fully analyzed and understood, there will be the potential of eliminating all diseases and illnesses if used correctly.

If used for evil, we can grow a giant army of stormtroopers, and quell insurrections in far off galaxies.

• Calculus

Other discoveries of note:

• Subatomic particles

• Vaccines (arguably inventions, beyond the first one)
