Old Balls could have used a few more reps in training camp that he, of course, missed most of. He almost had a 3-4 int game. Getting away with 1 was lucky and as Booche said NO had some big drops, could have been a blowout.

I think Peterson had three carries in the second half after putting up 70+ yards in the first. If he had 6-8 carries for bullshit in the 3rd and then the Vikings threw all 4th you could say NO took the running game away but I have no idea how you could come to that conclusion otherwise unless they injured AP (maybe, who knows) or you were drunk (I sure was). Terrible play calling in my opinion. NO's play calling was great on the otherhand, air show in the first half that set up a nice balance in the second.

Also those photos of Favre's injuries were grizzly. Wow. I think someone one this board who has a reputation for being angry (other than myself) needs to bust out his personal stationary and pen Old Balls an apology letter for calling him a faker.

I felt NO didnt give Minny the chance to go after the run (or at least feel confident in calling said running plays) and also didnt give up big yards on a single run to AP, which helped them take away the run.

Did you really feel like Minnesota's running game was that much of a problem for NO? I certainly didnt. Maybe it was poor play calling but if I was the defensive coordinator for Ahleen's, I would have felt like I did my job because the Vikings didnt seem to have much confidence to put anything together. Maybe I should have said "They took the run away by not allowing them to establish the run." but whatever. They took it away and took away Minny's passing game. No offence whatsoever and NO never looked worried about it.

I can't find exact stats but I think Peterson had 77 yards on 16 carries in the first half. That's 4.8 yards a carry. What exactly is your standard for establishing the run? A big run? No, thats not what I think establishing the run means but if you're a big run fan then handing AP the ball 3 times in the 2nd half is sure limiting your chances of that happening. Toss in the fact Favre seemed a bit rusty, missed training camp and is coming off an injury is all the more reason to live or die on the run.

No offence whatsoever and NO never looked worried about it.

Really, Im not so sure about that. Did you see the look on NOs collective faces when the Vikings feed it to them on their touchdown drive in the 2nd quarter. Id say Drew Brees and the rest looked all sorts of fucking concerned on that drive.

My take on what happened was NO scored quick in the 3rd and Childress panicked and got away from the game plan but I'm biased, for a supposed offence specialist I think Baldy sucks.

Glad someone saw the game like I did... Seems like Sloth and I watched the same game. He busted runs of 13 15 and 17 yards as well as was avg'ing a good 5 per carry in the first half... if thats not substantial i dont know what is.

As well, do you really think they took away Miny's passing game as much as Farve simply was pathetic in the second half... a couple of gopher balls and him throwing the ball up to avoid sacks... right into the centre of the field taboot. Yes they did pressure the passer more in the 2nd but he still looked limp.

9 points and a loss whereby Minn never looked dangerous tells me enough about the game I watched. Almost half of AP's yards came on three runs? Fuck your stats. New Orleans didnt even have to show up to win that one. Sloth, you should know right away that if you are agreeing with POG then you were drunker than you thought.

Like I said, I will agree that it's possible Minny started to call a bad game but I felt like they chose to go away from AP because they didnt feel like they could keep calling his number in order to succeed. NO took away that confidence. Maybe they would won had they not but we'll never know.

All I know for sure is if they are going to put up a decent enough record to make the playoffs their offence is going to have to look a helluva lot better than they did but it's only the first game.

That fucking call on Calvin Johnson is a brutal rule as far as I am concerned. If that costs me a win in my keeper league this week..........

Yeah that was just terrible. Ultimately I guess they interpreted the rule by the letter but even then I don't know, it almost seemed like the putting the football down was a second football move, not a continuation of him recovering from the hit (which knocked him to his ass and knee and he slid a bit) and therefore a touchdown. Being a Detroit fan must be hell. Stafford got leveled as well.

All in all a fun weekend though, Raiders got crushed, Indie lost and Washington beat their rival (though it took a lot bad penalties from Dallas to do it).

The Bills suck and so does Trent Edwards.

Yep- but Miami sure looked like a pile of shit too. If we don't take that stupid holding penalty mid way through the 3rd quarter, think we would have hit the field goal easily and then I think the game would have been ours.

The whole safety fiasco was a joke- even though Buffalo still covered by .5

The Dolphins frustrated the piss out of me but I saw a lot of positive signs. The D dropped what should have been 3 interceptions and the only TD they gave up was on a 4th and 11. Granted they have to take advantage of these opportunities in future games since it won't be Buffalo they are playing every week. The D over all looks good and I think Marshall is the WR the Dolphins have been waiting years for. Ronnie Brown looks healthy and with Rickey they are a solid duo. I think a lot will come down to Henne and how he performs...

I am predicting 10-6 for the Phins with a Wildcard playoff spot.

But a major problem remains, the Bills take way too many penalties and it continues to stall their shitty offense.
