  1. the shortribs go a long way. After sandwiches, boil some paparadelle and you've got some instant stroganoff. great with roasted or mashed potatoes.
  2. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/food-wine/food-and-wine-best-burgers-us_b_827402.html#s244746&title=California_InNOut_Burger there's a couple mentioned from Chicago. who was looking for things to do/eat in Chicago?
  3. The Ustream thing was weird. What the fuck were they doing in front of a camera? I saw no coke snorting or tiger blood drinking going on.
  4. I want to know how they fed that kid the lines and how he delivered them so quickly. There are a couple where he was so spontaneous that there's no way he had to read a script or wait for a cue.
  5. All you kingston fuckers better be joining us.
  6. http://www.prefixmag.com/news/phil-collins-announces-retirement/50028/ I guess Genesis is finally over. Sorry Ollie.
  7. Remember the Man Show boy? I remember these vids being shared over the inneretz well before youtube. The Man Show was a great show.
  8. I will be thanking charlie sheen for giving Norm the material I can only imagine he will be using on sunday.
  9. so it's either balance or the diamond encrusted pickup the tracks the grooves. From the suggestions, I'll test with the .25 solution and see if the does anything. If not, i will want to get a new... what? cartridge? If this died in 2 years, should I upgrade my.... cartridge...needle?...diamond? I don't want to have to replace a cheap pickup every 2 years for life.
  10. oh yeah, one other thing I should mention is this is only 2 years old and doesn't get heavy use. I don't know how a needle could die that quickly. aren't they made of diamonds for crissake?
  11. boiler rat was included in my plea for help. everyone is!
  12. IN case you missed it This is all done with Howard in NYC and Jimmy in LA. They used a green screen to pull off the 'in-person' interview with great success.
  13. I could try and find a new one in Ottawa. They're $29.99, but it seems I'd have to order one. As for taping a quarter down, it's worth a shot. How the hell would it go off that much?
  14. On netflix, SNL goes back to season 20. We put an episode on with Alec Baldwin before he got old man puffy head and it was loaded with funny. Norm's news still holds strong. I laughed so hard, he had me pissing off the side of the couch.
  15. Is anyone going to see Norm Macdonald in Kingston this sunday? We got tickets a while ago...I just checked and the sales seem to be very very sad. You can check out what tickets are left here. I've always been a big Norm fan, but he's hung a sign that says "Out To Lunch" for a number of years. Howard Stern is trying to get him onto Sirius H100 to do fake news.
  16. I noticed last weekend that a record sounded funny. So I put on another record that I knew was fine and it has the same problems. The record has no visible marks. No scratches, or dust. But, when I play it, it's got random static noise and it skips around. The audio is terrible. I took the platter off and reinstalled it thinking the belt was off a bit or something, but that didn't seem to do anything. Cables are all connected properly. Could the needle have a problem? The platter seems to have a slight wobble to it, but very slight. I need this working perfectly ASAP. Your help in this matter is appreciated. It's an audio technica ap-lp2d
  17. Life is good when you've got #tigerblood flowing in your veins. And penis.
  18. The thread about the iPad 2 and discussion about technology came to mind when I crossed this link today. 100 Years in the Future - 110 Hundred Years Ago I'm not going to pretend to understand what all the pictures depict exactly, but it looks like this picture predicted your news being delivered via Phonograph, while everyone would have one of them curly prussian moustaches. However, today, you can get your news on an iPad...or even play music on it, record music, play a guitar, piano, angry birds, etc.
  19. I really don't think that devices that support virtual instruments will ever make less people learn a real instrument. I believe that they actually ENCOURAGE people to learn a real instrument. There's only so much the virtual world can do so at some point, one would have to step into the real world and buy a crafted piece of wood with strings on it and learn how to make it sing.

  21. Here you go freeker....a Gala Ottawa, March 3, 2011 – Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest organizers today announced plans for an opening gala at the all-new, state-of-the-art Ottawa Convention Centre. The event will take place Tuesday, April 26 and feature an amazing evening of food and drink, a stellar cast of celebrities, including Ace of Cakes Duff Goldman, and the line-up announcement for the 2011 Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest. Musical entertainment will be provided by Canada’s own Maple Blues Revue featuring Chuck Jackson, Dawn Tyler Watson & John Mays. Some of Ottawa’s foremost musicians will also take to the stage. The event will be dedicated to raising funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, the Community Foundation of Ottawa, the Sens Foundation, and Raise-a-Reader charities. When it opens this April, the Ottawa Convention Centre will be the premier Canadian convention centre and events venue. The location overlooks the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Rideau Canal and is surrounded by Ottawa’s national landmarks, cultural treasures, natural beauty and many amenities. A sweeping, windowed façade will afford panoramic views of Parliament Hill, Confederation Square, and the National Arts Centre. This once-in-a-lifetime event will also offer patrons an opportunity to say, “I was among the first-ever to dine at the Ottawa Convention Centre,” not to mention ‘being there’ when Bluesfest executive director Mark Monahan unveils the much anticipated line-up for the 2011 edition of the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest. “We typically announce our line-up during the last week of April, so this is a great opportunity to do it in a big way,” says Monahan. “It’s also a great way to make the most of the popularity of our festival by getting together with some great non-profit organizations to raise funds for some very worthwhile charities.” Registration forms for tables of 10 ($2,750) and individual tickets ($300) are available on-line at www.ottawabluesfest.ca . Registration forms can also be printed from the website and sent by fax or by mail to the Ottawa Bluesfest office.
