I wanted to create a Slip forum a while ago. I think we have a great potential to build a solid Slip community starting with the Slip fan base right here. However, I didn't want to do that without knowing that there would be support for it. I was worried I'd see Velvet post "Why can't we keep things in ONE place?" again. So I held off. It seems that there are enough people passionate about the Slip right here that the creation of the forum makes sense. hell, even Velvet is for it! I'd rather not see Slip fans feel rejected or picked on just for expressing their love and enjoyment of a band in their lives so instead of watching them go elseswhere, I created a The Slip forum under a new category titled "Artists" How do you get to it? Type in... theslip.jambands.ca in your browser. I'm in the process of moving as many Slip related topics that I can. Please direct all Slip related news, comments, reviews, setlists to that forum. I'll ask the moderators to help me move anything into the Slip forum that should go there. I will extend invitations to any slow moving Slip forums to join us, and I hope you guys can do the same. Together, we can build a fantastic board for The Slip community. In the future, if there are other bands that are causing enough posts to warrant a break-out from the general nature of the Cavern, I'll do the same there. Also, over the next few weeks, I will be taking the site out of BETA (upgrades again!) and I will work on creating another quick navigation option so that folks can jump to other forums (like reviews, the slip, photos, etc) Thanks for keeping the board alive, active and sharing the site with your friends and family. There are a lot of good people and music lovers that would probably love to meet each and everyone of you at a show somewhere in the future.

I agree. I'm sure I could figure out a javascript to insert. HOwever, I'm not going to do anything like that until I take this site out of BETA which will happen over the next couple of weeks. There is a new codebase that I have to churn out.

If I created a Slip forum, would people promise to use it? I'd be in there every day since there's always something to talk about with The Slip. AD, I'll send you a PM. I was talking with Ollie, and I will move the calendar out of here and try-out a sub forum. I don't like having each event create a topic in the cavern. It's already moving too fast for me.

Hey Mattm.... I just realized that we should have a calendar forum. Yep...another forum! I've meant to figure out how best to use the calendar a while ago, but I just jumped in now. Every event will also create a topic, so the Sanctuary needs a forum for events in the different cities, and also people to update them. I've talked to Maverick's in the past about being a provider, for example. Not everyone should have access to add events either, so there will need to be a few dedicated volunteers (that know their way around a php form) to take care of local events. I'll just leave the calendar as is in the Cavern for a couple of days to get more of a realtime sense of it, realizing that people are able to participate in the individual event posts.

I modified this forum to see how we could add events. I didn't mean to hit save, but it looks like I did. As for the post layout, the first post is considered an article. I didn't mean to do that in this forum.

After recommendations from a few photographers including Davey-boy and Guigsy, I finally went ahead and picked up a really fantastic lens for my camera. It's a zoom lens that will allow me to get some great LIVE MUSIC photos in those situations where there isn't a whole lot of light. It's got a built in gizmo that compensates for camera shake and it is labelled as VR. The lens itself is a Nikkor AF-S VR Zoom 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED. I just took a couple of photos of our dog at rest in the living room where it was quite dim. My regular zoom could not even come close to exposing Abbey in under 1 second. I set the new lens to 1/8 of a second and here are the results. VR OFF VR ON

they deserve alot of awards and fame. they are just incredible. I've yet to experience them live.

I'm done with the works. I can't eat a burger that big anymore. It's too much. I had a great pizza special experience from Caffe Zucchero. 2 traditional Italian pieces of pizza along with a nice salad with a very tasty balsamic vinaigrette. I don't think they've ever served that before. Usually sandwiches, soups, sometimes lasagna and ravioli.
