Woodstock North Music Festival coming to Lansdowne in August 2019

The W50 Group is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the original 1969 Woodstock Music Festival north of the border in Ottawa’s Lansdowne Park and TD Place, August 9-11, 2019. The three-day music experience will recreate the retro look and feel of Woodstock from 50 years ago, and feature a line-up of some of the best original and tribute bands.

“We are thrilled to be Canada’s celebration headquarters for the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock,” said Larry Johnson, Managing Partner of the W50 Group. “We are recreating the Woodstock experience and so we’re encouraging our festies to come dressed up like hippies.”

Hey everyone. Hope you all had a great summer!
Still kickin' it here in the Hammer.
Bruno Mars was amazing last Sunday.
I had a quick peek on the first couple pages here, but didn't see anything posted about the Cyro Baptista / Kevin Breit / John Zorn coming up in Toronto.
Not sure how advertised it is, so figured I'd post it here. Tickets are $35 - $85. Still available.

Awesome show by the Turtles last night at the Danforth, it had been way to long. Great three part harmonies and good gawd does the fiddle player shred that thing. An excellent evening all around.
    Hilarious tweet by the turtles today;
Very excited to play @CityFolkFest in Ottawa today. Tainted slightly by the sadness of playing at the same time as David Byrne. Honestly, if any of you come to our show while that is taking place you should really take a long look at your life choices

We arrived Wednesday with a trunk full of way, way too many beers (after getting our whiskey and Mudslide illegally confiscated) and set up in Glen Close.  Met people and partied like crazy and saw Saturn (rings and everything!  Dude camped nearby had an awesome telescope and even awesomer knowledge of the planets).  Got up on Thursday and showered (in retrospect: ick) and did some more hanging out until mid-afternoon when lo, jaybone arrives with his lovely lady and set up camp right next to us, and then Stapes arrived shortly afterwards (we had pre-set up his tent next to ours).  And then the news hit.  People were scrambling to confirm that it wasn't some sort of prank and then I guess the Bunny announced it.  The couple camped next to us were in tears.  They started packing up almost right away (though in the end they did stay for the night).
A lot of people left.  I'd say about half of the people that had made it to Glen Close packed up by nightfall.
Of course rumours of the band playing a couple of sets for the people that stayed behind started going around, and the next thing you knew they started tearing down the speaker columns.  Rumour: crushed.  I bet that got a few more people on their way.
We had about 175 beers in the car so we had a lot of drinking to do.  We pounded and pounded, went to hang with the crew in general camping and pounded some more.  Good thing the hard liquor had already been taken care of (by the security staff and their buddies, no doubt).  Overall the mood among those that stayed for the night seemed to be "what the heck, let's have a great time tonight."  It wasn't over-the-top at all, just people hanging out and having a good time.
Thank goodness it wasn't raining when we packed up in the morning.  And it was nice that there was no security going around trying to hurry people up (we were supposed to be out by noon).  Really, there was a bare-bones staff on hand; hardly anyone at all.  phorbesie asked the concierge where she could get some drinking water and was told to "just maybe ask around at people's campsites. Someone will give you some."
(We're talking the concierge in a VIP section.)
I counted our remaining booty: 133 beers.  We needed a contingency plan.  We got offsite around 12:15 (easy-peasy though again, almost staff-less) and drove in to town.  We met some friends for lunch and went back to their hotel room.  They couldn't get their room refunded so they decided to stay until Monday.  They offered us floorspace but it was pretty crowded in there already.  Luckily an excellent Plan B presented itself and phorbesie, Stapes and I drove to Penn Yan and stayed at Bdunn's Godfather's super-great cottage on the lake for the weekend. The whole crew was there, we sucked it up and put on our happy faces and had a wicked-great weekend.
When I got up on Sunday I was shocked to discover that we had more that met our beer-consumption quota (phorbesie was even able to grab an extra 15-pack before we cruised the border).  We stayed until about 2pm and then it was hugs all-around and the three of us drove north, leaving the rest of the crew to try and enjoy a final night at the cottage without us.

" where the hell do box packs like that go?   It's not like missing a fucking sock for fuck sakes."
I keep forgetting you tell that story. When is the last time you recall owning either, simply because we moved a few times after leaving Myrna's. Is it safe to assume you had one copy, possibly both, while you lived in Smith's Falls?
    Moving is always recklessly wretched.

Good job on donating while also making the board aware. Here`s another Door`s song, probably the deepest and most meaningful, our crew would never had known about had it not been for Brian.............this ALWAYS came on at some point when we were tripping ballz. It always felt like home to us. `This is the best part of the trip.` - it was as if we needed to hear those words at that very moment simply to save our marbles from becoming lost to other players.
You might enjoy this song brother because it is well built.

    yes, added funds.
I used to head there on the bus regularly during high school hours.  NOt sure how many classes were skipped to pick up some original Beatles vinyl or new releases by Prince, Terrance Trent D'Arby, Tom Petty, Travelling Wilbury's, you know… all the hits from the mid to late eighties.
Most of my record collection was built from that place.  Mind you, a few of my treasures have gone missing somehow.   Example, The Concert for Bangladesh. I had 2 copies from there.  One original, and one re-issue.  where the hell do box packs like that go?   It's not like missing a fucking sock for fuck sakes.
It is amazing that he's been in business as long as he has.  I don't think there are any original vinyl shops left in Kingston (like house of sound for example).

    I'm not aware of any.
The main stage acts seem to help the festival maintain a large presence allowing them to program blues and other genres on the smaller stages and interior stage in the museum.
These smaller stages are by no means small, they are certainly overshadowed by the mainstage acts and we can basically just consider this a music festival without any genre in the brand.
It is certainly time to change the brand.  Ottawa Folk Festival was successfully rebranded as CityFolk Festival.  Why not simply just call the bluesfest, the Ottawa Hot Humid and Sometimes Stormy Live Music Festival?
    Be descriptive and reflective.  ?
also, I was digging for old posts on this topic and love this post from Velvet in 2009 referencing acts that have been rumoured to appear.
