  5. This is pretty wild. Robotics, Wiimotes, drums, percussion, etc. etc. http://blogs.westword.com/backbeat/2010/02/cyborg_drummer_will_rule_the_d.php A musician has harnessed the power of two Nintendo Wiimotes to become a cyborg percussionist with the robo-band Jazari. His playing of one drum machine can evoke an automated response from another, so that he can go around the drum circle in a beautiful display of human-robot improvisation. The man behind the machine, Patrick Flanagan, is a composer who cites music theory, music cognition, and machine learning as the three "chin-stroking disciplines" that influence his work. He created Jazari with a nod to Al-Jazari, a polymath of the Arab world in the 13th century who supposedly created the world's first robot band. Each of the Wiimote buttons can control higher or lower tones on certain drums, while tiling down or up controls volume. Tilting the Wiimote to the side and holding down a button can increase or decrease the repeating beat, ranging from quarter notes to 32nd notes. Dually wielded Wiimotes also allows Flanagan to reverse the drum patterns on two drum machines, speed up one drum machine faster than the other, and do other neat tricks that alter the rhythm. Music geeks and curious readers alike can check out a full explanation below.

  7. Excellent bonus prize for your purchase of ten games. Nice return
  8. There's gotta be some "fine print" in the deal FBN They're really just handing you a half-season of tix? Great score for you, the fan. However, it's not a good sign for the club. Any idea on how many of these they are giving away?
  9. Goals and Assists stats are definitely close. They play two different styles on the ice though. I doubt you'll ever see Crosby be able to this (unless he's playing a Timbits team): Mind you, it'd be awesome to see Canada relentlessly go after Ovie at all opportune times tonight.
  10. Pulled in just in time for a quick preshow puff, a quick beer and then to the seats. Fantastic show top to bottom. LOVED the Neil Young BROKEN ARROW! Couldn't believe how many people around me had no idea as to what it was. Not the easiest of Neil tunes to pull off by any means and they nailed it with a bit of Wilco flair. Wankers down front who wouldn't get up. It took NUMEROUS nudges from Tweedy to get 'em up. Basically had to guilt them into it One of the hollerers must've been Newrider, no? No beers to the seats ... boo but saved a bunch of cash. Who were those guys in the BRODEO ? Jeff thought they were so "sweet" Wilco are worth every penny of the ticket price. Never been let down yet. Impossible Germany was fitting for a title on a night like last with Canada kickin' some German butt.
  11. Canada 6 (empty netter to finish 'em off) Russia 4 Mind you, I think a LOT will depend on how the refs call it. Hate it, but it's true. This could be a kickass, hard-hitting, spirited game to say the least. If they start calling everything then it'll suck.
  12. WOOHOO! Sweet Thank you. Looking forward to Saturday more than ever now
  13. CONGRATS! They were pretty f'in awesome ... and super classy individuals too. Happy for all Canadians successes, but there's something about these two, and Jon Montgomery, that make me extra proud and honoured to be a Canadian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWgZkUcC9hM
  14. Fantastic episode! Glad to have it back on. Seth was wonderful as was Wanda "I understand why y'all love pussy" Sykes (and Seth's response ).
  15. Yup. The refs did a great job last night. They let a lot of minor stuff slide (which most international games don't) and were completely fair and balanced it seemed. Refs let them play ... and I wish Canada had taken more advantage of that and laid in a few more BIG hits (did McGuire say MONSTER at all??)
