  1. New vid/cut from the upcoming album PSYCHEDELIC PILL By Rolling Stone September 25, 2012 1:00 PM Neil Young and Crazy Horse fans, your nearly decade-long wait for new material is finally over. Here is the premiere of their video for "Walk Like a Giant." No member of the band actually appears in this video. Instead, it's footage of giants of history (real and imagined) like Bigfoot, Albert Einstein and the Atomic bomb. The song is over 16 minutes on the album, but they've shaved it down to under five for the video. It's one of six new songs that Neil Young and Crazy Horse debuted last month on tour. The album hits shelves on October 30th. It's just eight songs long, but some of them are so long it's a double album. The tour resumes in early October and runs through December.
  2. Damn ... missed it. thanks for posting. I'm in if anyone has any extras on the floor Let me know if you hear of any more drops.
  3. I love ESAS, but this has been the hardest of their releases to really get into IMHO. It just doesn't lend itself to the style the same way Floyd, Radiohead and The Beatles did. Still, lots of fun and maybe it will grow on me a bit more. Looking forward to seeing them again at Lee's Palace next month

  5. http://bit.ly/P0DrmK Phish - 12/6/1997 The Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, MI Phish’s third show at The Palace on December 6, 1997 was yet another defining fall ‘97 gig, with an under-recognized set I and a renowned set II that must be heard in one sitting, preferably loud with headphones. Set I highlights include an intense second-song Run Like An Antelope, alien landscapes of Train Song and seamless pairings of Bathtub Gin > Foam and Fee > Maze. Set II was a unified, non-stop affair: Tweezer > Izabella > Twist > Piper > Sleeping Monkey > Tweezer Reprise. As they rounded the bend into the final week of this storied fall tour, the band had a confident swagger that exploded in The Palace with a flood of combined energy that flows through on the tapes. The Palace is deep in the suburbs but this Saturday night show in the home of The Pistons was a slam dunk that reverberated throughout Detroit Rock City and beyond. mp3@256 Tracklist Set I: 1. Golgi Apparatus (5:35) 2. Run Like an Antelope (16:29) 3. Train Song (2:44) 4. Bathtub Gin (12:35) 5. Foam (10:24) 6. Sample in a Jar (5:03) 7. Fee (5:35) 8. Maze (15:10) 9. Cavern (4:49) SET II: 1. 6. Reconstruction for Ryerson I believe.
  7. Fond memories of the old Sam's store on Yonge. So much to look at and browse through back in the day. I remember numerous Boxing Days where THAT was the location to get up early for and go line up. Nothing like going home on the subway looking at record covers/sleeves chomping at the bit to get them on the turntable and listen to them.
  8. http://bit.ly/UKNC4n The Tragically Hip – Now For Plan A Critically acclaimed for over two decades, The Tragically Hip has been at the heart of the Canadian musical zeitgeist for evoking a strong emotional connection between their music and their fans that remains unrivaled in this country. A five-piece group of friends including Robby Baker (guitar), Gordon Downie (vocals, guitar), Johnny Fay (drums), Paul Langlois (guitar) and Gord Sinclair (bass), who grew up in Kingston, Ontario, The Hip has achieved the enviable status of a band that enjoys both mass popularity with over 8 million albums sold worldwide, as well as peer recognition through 11 Juno Awards from more than a dozen recordings. mp3@320 Tracklist 01 – At Transformation 02 – Man Machine Poem 03 – The Lookahead 04 – We Want To Be It 05 – Streets Ahead 06 – Now For Plan A 07 – The Modern Spirit 08 – About This Map 09 – Take Forever 10 – Done And Done 11 – Goodnight Attawapiskat http://bit.ly/UKNC4n
  9. Yea, i missed The Watch the last time through as well. I have them on the calendar and am planning to go either the 17th in Toronto, or the 18th in Hamilton.
  10. They'll do anything they can to maximize their intake on the hype. Good to know that 4S will get cheaper faster so I can get one for my wife. Love this ad from yesterday:
  11. Yea, but I think I'll either hope for a quick interview and then book it in for the show (highly unlikely) or save my time so I can get to a bunch of shows next month (Rush, Springsteen, The Watch, Easy Star All Stars, Umphrey's, ... ) Maybe a little Stop Making Sense at home for me tonight instead
  12. Damn ... pulling 7th row centre and I can't pull the trigger ... arrrgggghhhh. F'in meet the teacher night
  13. Thank you Mr. Zimmerman :bonghit: http://bit.ly/Sav9yH Bob Dylan - The New York Sessions (Blood on the Tracks) There’s a perfectly good reason that every time Bob Dylan has released an album of new material over the past decade it gets tagged as his “best since Blood On The Tracksâ€. Put simply, it’s because Blood On The Tracks is the finest collection of songs Dylan has recorded since his mid-60’s heyday - some would even argue it bests those undeniable classics. Whether it does or not, Blood On The Tracks remains one of the most universally praised albums in his canon, as well as, arguably, his most personal. It is also one of the best records of the 1970’s -a stunning return to form after a disappointing stretch of early 70’s albums that had many wondering if the world’s greatest songwriter had lost his touch. One of the interesting things about Blood On The Tracks is that Dylan had recorded it in 1974 in New York, but after hearing the takes decided some changes were in order. He switched studios - finding one in Minneapolis - and re-recorded half of the 10 songs with a new set of session players. He found the original tapes a bit monotonous, but over the years fans have developed quite an affair with them because of their stripped down nature - some would say a more appropriate setting for lyrics of such a confessional nature. Now you get to decide - here’s the Blood On The Tracks’ songs as Dylan originally imagined them while in New York. mp3@320 Tracklist 01. Tangled Up In Blue (Alternate Take) 02. Simple Twist Of Fate 03. You’re A Big Girl Now (Alternate Take) 04. Idiot Wind (Alternate Take) 05. You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go 06. Meet Me In The Morning 07. Lily, Rosemary, & Jack Of Hearts (Alternate Take) 08. If You See Her, Say Hello (Alternate Take) 09. Shelter From The Storm 10. Buckets Of Rain http://bit.ly/Sav9yH
  14. http://bit.ly/QmFqpI Mumford & Sons – Babel For some reason many people seem to have an issue with Mumford & Sons. This might be because they see the group’s music as being some way north of corporate. Safe enough indeed that M&S – that’s an unfortunate diminution, right there – were flown to Washington DC to perform during a summit between David Cameron and Barack Obama. But this criticism seems harsh: after all, where’s the point in judging a band by criteria that don’t apply to the music at hand? That said, the music Mumford & Sons make is not all that safe. The group do not sound like anyone else, and the songs on Babel – as with those on debut album Sigh No More, a top five release in both the US and the UK – don’t adhere to the kind of formula one might adopt were they attempting to second-guess the pop charts. Although the songs are melodic and accessible, they are far from routine; heavy rhythms dominate the floor of most tracks, while frontman Marcus Mumford’s impassioned and rasping vocals give the air of a man who is at least singing for his supper, and on occasions even his life. Despite what the haters might say, this is impressive stuff. The beautiful and stirring Holland Road speaks of someone being “cut downâ€, while an ominous drumbeat suggests footsteps trudging away, frustrated and alone. Whispers In The Dark flutters like a quickly beating heart, its melodies drifting in and out of focus as the song’s mood shifts from gentle refrain to dominant force. Best yet is closing track Not With Haste, a fragile ballad that shimmers like sunshine on an empty sea. As this track builds force, Mumford asserts that “I am what I amâ€, although he may have added that he is not what many people assume. Mumford & Sons are a fine modern folk band who have found ways to breathe new life into an ancient form of music. In an ideal world, it would be nice if the group were afforded the credit they deserve before they, too, fade into the past. - BBC mp3@254 Tracklist 01 – Babel 02 – Whispers In The Dark 03 – I Will Wait 04 – Holland Road 05 – Ghosts That We Knew 06 – Lover Of The Light 07 – Lovers’ Eyes 08 – Reminder 09 – Hopeless Wanderer 10 – Broken Crown 11 – Below My Feet 12 – Not With Haste 13 – For Those Below 14 – The Boxer 15 – Where Are You Now http://bit.ly/QmFqpI
  15. http://bit.ly/PDSgw4 Paul Simon - Live In New York When it came time to cut a live album documenting his supporting tour for his excellent 2011 album So Beautiful or So What, Paul Simon did what he always does: he set up shop in his hometown of New York City. Previously, he — either with or without Art Garfunkel — released albums recorded at massive venues like Madison Square Garden or Central Park, but Hear Music’s 2012 Live in New York City — available either as a two-CD/one-DVD set or simply as a double CD or single DVD — was recorded at the comparatively intimate Webster Hall and, appropriately enough, the performance feels comparatively cozy, Simon striking just the right blend of playing for himself and playing for the audience. He showcases a nice chunk of So Beautiful or So What — “Dazzling Blue,†“So Beautiful or So What,†“Rewrite,†“The Afterlife,†roughly half of the album — and about half of Graceland, often opting for album tracks over hits (no “You Can Call Me Al†or “Graceland,†but “That Was Your Mother†and “Gumboots†both make the cut), and when he does dip into such standards as “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,†“Mother and Child Reunion,†“Slip Slidin’ Away,†and “Still Crazy,†he finds subtle little ways to inject a bit of groove into their well-worn contours. Simon is pleasing the crowd without pandering, and he winds up with a live album that’s lively, slightly surprising, warm, and undeniably fun. - Allmusic mp3@320 Tracklist CD1: 01 – The Obvious Child 02 – Dazzling Blue 03 – 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover 04 – So Beautiful Or So What 05 – Mother And Child Reunion 06 – That Was Your Mother 07 – Hearts And Bones 08 – Crazy Love, Vol. II 09 – Slip Slidin’ Away 10 – Rewrite CD2: 01 – The Boy In The Bubble 02 – The Only Living Boy In New York 03 – The Afterlife 04 – Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes 05 – Gumboots 06 – The Sound Of Silence 07 – Kodachrome 08 – Gone At Last 09 – Late In The Evening 10 – Still Crazy After All These Years http://bit.ly/PDSgw4
  16. oooh ... this is good. Totally diggin' it at work right now on the headphones. Works better than coffee http://bit.ly/SuqzGu The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Meat + Bone Meat And Bone is the first studio album by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in eight years. This is straight-up, Grade A Blues Explosion, mixed by Mr. Spencer himself, with no special guests. Meat And Bone is 12 prime cuts of raw rock ‘n’ roll, recorded on Sly Stone’s “Riot†Flickinger console at the legendary Key Club Recording Studio in Benton Harbor, MI, and mixed in the jungles of New York City. Judah Bauer, Russell Simins and Jon Spencer continue to blow minds with their fusillade of energy and rhythm, and have once again proven that the Blues is #1! Says Jon Spencer: “We still have that psychic glue that allows us to create music together. Over the course of a year touring and writing new songs and recording, we rediscovered our shared history as a band. We circled the wagons, and went back to our roots. In a way this is almost like another first album.†On stage and in the studio, Judah Bauer, Russell Simins and Jon Spencer have destroyed and rebuilt American roots music with such ferocity and wild abandon. Make no mistake: The Blues Explosion was there first. They are the original. It was their sanctified outbursts and blues-bending riffs that began the new-fangled roots rock revolution and spawned countless imitators. The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion has blazed a furious trail into the future with incendiary spirit built from courage, audacity, and revolt. Nothing has been the same since. - Drift mp3@320 Tracklist 1. Black Mold 2. Bag Of Bones 3. Boot Cut 4. Get Your Pants Off 5. Ice Cream Killer 6. Strange Baby 7. Bottle Baby 8. Danger 9. 23. http://bit.ly/RPSDYD John Hiatt - Mystic Pinball When you’ve racked up more than 20 albums in your long career, curveballs, while not entirely out of the question, aren’t expected or even welcomed. The cozily familiar music on John Hiatt’s 21st album won’t win him any new fans at this point, but those who’ve been there for the long haul will appreciate the bluesy shuffle of “We’re Alright Now†and “It All Comes Back Somedayâ€â€™s pop push.
