  1. Det v Nash OVERTIME! Shit, anyone watch this game so far? How the hell are the shots on net 53 - 20 in favour of Det and it's only a 1-1 game!? Wow ... and only 3 penalties a side. Gotta watch this OT now.
  2. I ended up grabbing a room at the Marriot on Kent St. Snagged for $65 not bad Hopefully we'll have time to chill and go for a walk before getting ready to go to the wedding reception. Hey, it's not that small a world, but does anyone here know Glenn Tucker or Andrai DesOrmeaux? It's his wedding gig that i'm hitting. Can't wait, should be a PARTY He's an Ottawa guy (moved away some time ago) but has many friends/family there still. One of you skanks prob knows him (he's 37) or her (she's around 29ish). Now, gotta pick out some tunes for the ride.
  3. The Bourbs are back! Fucking sweet. Grew up going to see these guys all the time. From when they won the Battle of the Bands at the Masonic Temple until they disbanded. Great times, great shows, great musicians. Are all the old members involved? I'll have to call a good friend of mine. Her brother was the drummer. He's gone through some hard times, but hopefully he'll be back in the fold.
  4. I'm dyin' for a brew right now. Outta here in half an hour ... i hope. Not much on the calendar right now that i can think of. Clapton in May up on the lawns Then June and July just get nutty.
  5. Yup, it'll be ugly if it happens. Hopefully there will be a last minute deal made to avoid it. Hey, I'm a "brother" too (Canadian Media Guild). I'm on overtime right now due to the hockey playoffs. I'm ready to go home, drink some beers, and get smarter Cheers brother,
  6. Yup ... the sad thing is that when the TTC walks, it proves that they are essential, but the public ends up simply hating them for doing it. Support for any type of strike/walkout/lockout in these regions is rarely supported by the public.
  7. IMHO, if it becomes an essential service, it had better well be funded by the gov't as such. I grew up in Toronto with no car and survived perfectly fine using the TTC. It was great. It's definitely been going down the shitter for years now. I'm not on it much at all anymore, but the last few times I did it was nowhere near what it used to be (cleanliness, service, etc.)
  8. I believe the "token taker" salary was not his "base salary". This was a person who never took a holiday AND worked TONS of overtime. A huge percentage of that 100K was in OT wages.
  9. I could use a few beers right about now The Buffalo Theory In one episode of "Cheers", Cliff is seated at the bar describing the Buffalo Theory to his buddy, Norm. I don't think I've ever heard the concept explained any better than this: "Well you see, Norm, it's like this . . . A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the heard is hunted, it is the lowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
  10. My buddy emailed me back and he hasn't had the time to fully test it out yet other than connecting via USB (which worked on his computer, but not through a USB port on his standalone DVD player ... flash media only i guess). He said (as did a bunch of the reviews) that you have to load software on your computer to "see" the drive or something. This is where I wonder if an XBMC would be able to "see" it via RJ45 if you can't load some crappy software in order for it to do so. Hopefully he'll test soon
  11. What I found frustrating is that the team didn't pick it up a level after Price made his error. For the way that he has consistently been a vital player it would have been nice to see the players try that much harder to get back into the game. Oh well, regroup and give 'em the shit back in Boston.
  12. DANNY FEDERICI "Danny and I worked together for 40 years - he was the most wonderfully fluid keyboard player and a pure natural musician. I loved him very much...we grew up together." —Bruce Springsteen Danny Federici, for 40 years the E Street Band's organist and keyboard player, died this afternoon, April 17, 2008 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City after a three year battle with melanoma. The Federici family and the E Street family request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund. A web site for the Fund is being established and we'll post its link when it is on line. Bruce Springsteen's concerts scheduled for Friday in Ft. Lauderdale and Saturday in Orlando performance are being postponed. Replacement dates will be announced shortly. VIDEO: DANNY FEDERICI WITH HIS LIFELONG COLLEAGUES E Street Band keyboardist Danny Federici treated Indianapolis fans to a special appearance at Conseco Fieldhouse on March 20th . Danny's performance was a profound expression of the healing power of music and community, all the more poignant in light of his death just a few weeks later. Here, from the Indie show, is an excerpt from one of Danny's signature accordion performances on the rarely-played Sandy .

I am somewhat hesitant to try it out based on the reviews, but it's a damn good deal. I know a guy who got one a couple of weeks ago and wanted it for the same purpose (sharing files without having to have a host computer on). I'll email him and see how it worked out.
  14. If anyone sees any killer deals on an external (500Gigs - 1Terabyte) that has an RJ45 connection please post it!!! That's how I want my external to work/share (so that there doesn't need to be a host computer running in order to get access to files).
  15. Hey, just so you know, you won't have to see those Jubilee Fine Jewelers ads with Spezza in them anymore during the games. They asked for them to be pulled from the rotation this morning
  16. Those are fucking great!! This one made me laugh;
  17. A game that gets Hasek chased from the net is a game I like to see. How close together were those Nashville goals? killer
  18. I grabbed that low-budget film that's supposed to be pretty insightful into the freakiness of the whole $cientology thing. It's called The Profit. I can fire you off a copy if you're interested.
  19. way to go Jakis ... you just jinxed the game
  20. I love how Bell says they introduced traffic shaping and all that shit, but when they did it they wouldn't even admit to it!! It's only through the pressure from customers and wholesalers that this has busted wide open. I like how they spin their numbers as well; Fuck Bell.
