  1. [color:purple]WOOHOO ... we're LAST in the East! Big Day. Fuckin' A man They are absolutely brilliant in this tactic of trying to obtain a good draft pick
  2. Man, just stumbled across this video. Check it out and TURN UP your speakers The World Of Optical Illusions - The funniest movie is here. Find it
  3. Yeah, but it was written with the intent that it was one specific god from one specific religion that was to "keep our land glorious and free". If it was meant to be an "god" that encompasses all beliefs then why wasn't it written as "Gods keep our land ..."? Just wondering. I think I'll start singing it as: "FSM keep our land glorious and free" ... or just insert another patriotic Oh Canada instead IT is interesting to look at the French version as well, since it has words that are far from a direct translation O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons* command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land** glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. * some sing "our hearts" instead of "thy sons", to be gender neutral. ** some sing "O, Canada" instead of "God keep our land" and for the extended 12" remix, you can add these 3 verses: O Canada! Where pines and maples grow, Great prairies spread and Lordly rivers flow! How dear to us thy broad domain, From East to Western sea! The land of hope for all who toil, The true North strong and free! God keep our land, glorious and free. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee! O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies, May Stalwart sons, and gentle maidens rise. To keep thee steadfast thro' the years, From East to Western sea. Our own beloved native land, Our true North strong and free! God keep our land, glorious and free. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee! Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer, Hold our Dominion, in thy loving care. Help us to find, O God, in thee, A lasting rich reward. As waiting for the better day, We ever stand on guard. God keep our land, glorious and free. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee one more thing ... BOB WEIR wrote the english lyrics !!!!
  4. Sing the national anthem, moment of silence, quote a famous Canadian ... there's many other ways to instill a little heritage into the proceedings. Deeps expressed my feelings again! Traditions can evolve and some start anew. The inclusion of ONE religion's prayer all the time, just because it's been done that way for a while, is a lame excuse. It conveys that only that ONE "god" is looking out for the gov't and proceedings. Separate 'em! Moments of silence allow INDIVIDUALS to say their own prayers to their own gods = EVERYONE is included. If it's public, and it's publicly funded, then keep churches/religion out of it. If it's privately funded then GO FOR IT (as long as it's not harming anyone else).
  5. I couldn't have said it better myself ... that's exactly what I wanted to add as well.
  6. Great hearing news such as this: In case you haven't heard the news . . . here's the latest from Mark's CarePages: OK... so here we go. Looooong time since I posted and it's been a long, strange trip indeed. I'm guessing many of you have already heard the phenomenal news that we got our PET/CT scan results a couple daze early and I have officially been pronounced cancer-free!!! Woooohooooo indeed!!! I am blown away and am full of life and gratitude... and joy at the prospect of picking up the guitar again and rejoining the ongoing parade, party and dance/concert and family that is RatDog.... I cannot express in words NEARLY enough thanks and appreciation for all of you that have travelled this road with me offering love and support and encouragement along the way... the power of the kind of energy this community offered me is something unlike anything I'd ever experienced and absolutely had a giant hand in my healing... along with a lot of amazing experiences that were definitely not coincidence and that have strengthened my belief in the essential goodness of people and life and experience. Praise be to the universe and to that which we choose to call God... however that shows up for each of us! I cannot BEGIN to thank my medical folks at UCSF... Dr Alan Kramer, Dr David Eisele, Dr Jeanne Quivey, my chemo nursing staff Fred, Dana & Trina & the gentlest blood sampler on the planet, Tom. These people brought me thru the physical treatment with strength, knowledge, encouragement and definitely put in effort beyond the call of duty... and the same goes for my alternative healers Yen Wei Choong, Carey Lee, David Kitts and Elly Winchell. Acupuncture, body & energy healing and spiritual guidance kept me on a path of joy and healing when I might otherwise have gotten lost in my own mind amongst technical data and statistics. Thank and bless you ALL. During the past few months I've really enjoyed the few moments onstage I've been lucky enough to have stolen over the past several months... especially joining the Doggies in December for a good chunk of their show as well as the recent kick-*** Obama benefit at the Warfield in SF. Whatta ball! But mostly I cannot wait to get back to where I truly belong... onstage with my Dawg brothers... playing for my friends and family. And hey Luke... you can let your hair grow again man. Heck, it looks like I may soon be sporting an Afro with my new post-chemo curls... LOL! MUCH love, life and many blessings to my family, bandmates, friends, docs, and my extended fan family. Thank you! And now... let's boogie! MK
  7. LOL ... I have, oh I have Gotta love BODY PAINT!!!
  8. Gotta love Will Ferrell (Heidi ain't bad either ): http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/features/2008_swimsuit/heidi-klum/
  9. This is an interesting watch. Thanks for letting me know it is on Yahoo. I do agree wholeheartedly that Congress has MANY MANY MANY more important items to be dealing with than this.
  10. Tix went on sale for this today. I got a notice AFTER the presale and public onsale from Casino Rama (d'oh!) Oh well. I just checked and they had 10th row centres avail for the Thurs night show! http://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/100040462229E1EC?artistid=731962&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=2
  11. The ONLY thing I can think of that kinda sucks (but in no way ruins an evening there) is the fact that they have an attendant in the mens' washroom. I just hate that. I love the Town Ballroom. I hope there continue to be great shows there for many years to come. If there's ever anyone playing there that you're half-way interested in, it's best to get tix asap ... it sells out easily.
  12. Have US cash on hand though ... the owner doesn't like getting CAN funds (they charge 25% exchange in the WRONG WAY). There is a cash machine inside if needed. Shea's makes the best drinks when they have the sideroom bar open. At the last Phil show there we were getting huge freepour doubles for $4!! SWEEET
  13. Natalie Cole: Forgettable ... that's what you are.
  14. Natalie Cole can shut her cakehole. Grammy's are awards for accomplishments in music, recording, production, etc. It has NOTHING to do with your personality or demons. Fuck! Could you imagine if they stripped all the Grammys from artists who used drugs? Get a grip Natalie ... and you're not one to talk either.
