  1. Road Trips: Volume 1 Number 2 Ah yes, the glorious year of 1977, a favorite of discerning Dead Heads for three decades now! For the second volume in our new Road Trips series, we’ve chosen another tour that was not tapped previously through Dick’s Picks—a blazing swing through the Southwest, Colorado and down to Louisiana during the first weeks of October 1977. This was a great time for the band: Both the years-in-the-making Grateful Dead Movie and the new Terrapin Station album had come out a few months earlier and the group was riding high on momentum from both of those projects. There was exciting new material that had debuted at the beginning of the year, including “Estimated Prophet,†“Terrapin†and “Fire on the Mountain,†and steady touring through the spring allowed the band to really explore the nuances of the new repertoire, while they also continued to hone the material that had come in following the band’s return to the stage in mid-1976 after their hiatus. What you’ll find on these great-sounding discs is a mixture of old favorites played with that fabled ’77 energy, and more recent material that was hitting new peaks nightly. There’s a “Let It Grow†that will knock your tie-dyed socks off, one of the great versions of “Sugaree†of that or any year, the famous “Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin’s Tower†from Norman, Oklahoma, epic workouts on “Playing in the Band†and “The Other One†and a jammed-out “Black Peter†for the ages. Hot stuff! As always with Road Trips, if you order NOW (as they say on late-night TV), we will also include a 12-piece set of steak knives…no, wait a second, that’s not right. We’ll also include a special limited edition Bonus Disc with a dazzling plethora of other tunes from the same tour, including a wicked “Scarlet> Fire†(from Baton Rouge) and the group’s second-ever version of “Iko-Iko†(from “Al-be-ker-kay,†as Bugs Bunny called it). One again, the discs have been lovingly compiled and painstakingly mastered (in HDCD) from the original master tapes (in this case reels) by Jeffrey Norman. The booklet that accompanies the CDs boasts scads of great photos from the era and a very cool historical essay by the ever-hip and erudite scribe Steve Silberman. TRACK LIST DISC 1: 1. 2. Yup .... http://www.iclips.net/
  3. Victor's shows are a LOT of fun. I had a blast at the one he did a couple of years ago at the Opera House when he was touring with his Soul Circus. Got to see some amazing bass players who have studied at his camp, etc. and the rest of the Wooten clan (his brother rips up the guitar). I'll be trying to get to this gig for sure.
  4. Hitler HATES the Giants :
  5. Ollie, of course I do. However, based on the predictions for the outcome of the Super Bowl do you really think that they printed up equal quantities of product for both teams in preparation for the onslaught of sales after the game? What I was also commenting on was the fact that NFL.com had the championship product with the Pats' name on it already for sale a day or two BEFORE the Super Bowl! The Pats will have a large fan base in 3rd world countries next year
  6. I agree. IF the Pats had won, they would have dragged it on longer I am sure. Wonder how many people are canceling their orders on NFL.com for the "19-0" gear that was for sale BEFORE the game even started!! Nice to know that the League is selling shit like that before the outcome even happens. Bet the machines were pumping these out after the Giants' touchdown in the 4th quarter:
  7. Ouch ... the gin hit me harder than i thought! Ended up sleeping in this morning (forgot to set the alarm) which made for a hectic hangover trying to get the kids, wife and myself up and outta there. Must drink more water ... still full from all the food I ate last night.

  9. Great fucking win by the Giants tonight. What a display of kickass defence! Was bummed I couldn't make it to my buddy's place tonight for some wagering, as I would have made off like a bandit with Giants bets Oh well, it was good to see the "underdog" win such a good game. Can they please regulate the tempo of the singing of the national anthem? Damn, i hate it when they slow it down to almost half-speed like tonight (and, as always, lip-synched). Tom Petty did a good job at half-time. At least I didn't have to fast forward through it. It did make me realize that I could save money and not be too heart-broken not seeing him this summer on his second finale tour Wonder what part of the world all those "Perfect" championship gear that was premanufactured will all go??? 18-1 18-1 18-1 18-1 18-1 Hey, nice to see Belichick stick around for the last play of the game
  10. Congratulations you guys! Love to hear awesome news like that. Hey, Jack is an fantastic name ... so great that it's what I named my son Hopefully we'll see Jack Gilles at a Gratefulfest in the near future?
  11. About This Video Yes, We Can! - Si, Se Puede! Added: February 02, 2008 Yes, We Can! - Si, Se Puede! Song & video, featuring a star cast, by will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas. Inspired by Barack Obama's 'Yes We Can' speech. http://www.yeswecansong.com http://www.barackobama.com/ http://factcheck.barackobama.com/ It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation. Yes we can. It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom. Yes we can. It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness. Yes we can. It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land. Yes we can to justice and equality. Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity. Yes we can heal this nation. Yes we can repair this world. Yes we can. We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics...they will only grow louder and more dissonant ........... We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea -- Yes. We. Can. Celebrities featured include: Jesse Dylan, will.i.am, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Tatyana Ali, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta, Eric Balfour, Aisha Tyler, Nicole Scherzinger and Nick Cannon Also check out this other great song and video inspired by Barack:
  12. Yes We Can Great video that came out on Friday. It was created by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and Jesse Dylan (son of Bob), inspired by Barak Obama’s “Yes We Can†speech. Dylan and will.i.am say they did not coordinate the production or release of this video with the Obama campaign and the filmmakers say they don’t even know if Obama is aware of the video.
  13. Sorry, can't take the tix off your hands (almost any price is too much to pay for this team right now). Good to see the win last night in a feisty game. Man, did Ottawa's defence look like the Leafs or what? WIth all the scouts showing up for these Leaf games, it seems to be encouraging them to show that they have at least some talent!
  14. I recall moe. shows as always having a grinning and happy Rob on bass ... he didn't seem that way last night
  15. Had a great time at the show last night. We rolled in at 8:20 and got in line in the cold. Glad i didn't leave my coat in the car! Went to the bar and grabbed a couple of drinks and warmed up. Went in and got a nice spot down on the floor about 10 people back. They started at around 9:30. I really dug the SSM, Akimbo opener. I listened to moe. a lot when Headseed and No Doy came out and it was good to hear these old nuggets. Sticks and Stones really brought things down at the beginning. The song started to get a bit repetitive and was so basic. However, it all of a sudden started to build and layer, especially with Al's wonky guitar leads/solo. It really got up there and then busted into 32 things which really got the place hoppin'! The ZOZ with the big mirror ball got good and dirty. Back out to the bar for a couple of setbreak drinks. My buddy and I were commenting on how enjoyable the first set was and we'd have gotten our money's worth and could go home. Mind you, who's gonna forgo a second set??? Did the second set up at the back of the venue. Love the Town Ballroom ... the sightlines and sound are spectacular up there as they are on the floor. Great job with the sound and lights last night. Made it to the end of George and into Big World. As 12:30 rolled around we decided we had better hit the road. Hated missing the Rec Chem encore, but we were exhausted by then and had to work today phunkyb, sorry i missed you too ... same goes for Jakis. I wish I could have stayed overnight and had some more time to party outside of the show. Oh well, next time. After listening to The Conch and Sticks&Stones yesterday i realized how much better (IMHO) The Conch is.
  16. 01/31/08 The Town Ballroom, Buffalo, NY Set I: She Sends Me, Akimbo, Sticks and Stones> 32 Things, Hi and Lo> The Road> Z02> The Road Set II: Wicked Awesome> So Long, All Roads Lead to Home> George, Big World> Shoot First> Big World Encore: Raise A Glass, Recreational Chemistry
  17. LOL ... i used to book those Jubilee spots. I always wondered why there weren't more local businesses utilizing Sens talent in their commercials.
  18. ^^^^^ Loved that commercial when I was a kid. Commercials with hockey players with one liners that will always be remembered: "Maurice ... 2 minutes for looking so good" "Mats ... your mama's calling!" "GRETZKY!!!!" <- the towel kid for the Oilers
  19. See you there phunkyb ... last time i saw you was in Buffalo at the Phil show Have fun at the instore thingy ... ask 'em to do the Timmy Tucker rock opera tonight
