  1. I found out my answer: http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/sports/pros/ducks/ducksinfo/article_1708761.php Ottawa mayors make Stanley Cup wager The losing mayor must wear the winning team's jersey. By ERIK ORTIZ The Orange County Register ANAHEIM – The Anaheim Ducks face off against the Ottawa Senators for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals on Monday. And Mayor Curt Pringle is counting on his hometown team to come out on top. As is tradition, each team's respective mayors have made a wager on the outcome and announced it Friday. If the Ducks win: Ottawa will display four flags – the Ducks, the city of Anaheim, the state of California and the United States of America – for one day; Ottawa Mayor Larry O'Brien and the Ottawa City Council will wear Ducks jerseys at a council meeting, including pirates-styled Mickey Mouse ears; O'Brien will show off an "Anaheim 150" crate paperweight until the 2007-08 NHL season begins; and the city of Ottawa will put a picture of O'Brien and the Ottawa City Council in their Ducks garb on the city's Web site. If the Senators win: Anaheim will display four flags – the Senators, the city of Ottawa, the province of Ontario and the Canadian flag; Pringle will wear a Senators jersey at an upcoming City Council meeting and a Canadian Mounties hat; A Rideau Canal (175th anniversary) paperweight or memento will go on display in Pringle's office; and a picture of Pringle and the City Council in Senators jerseys will go on www.anaheim.net.
  2. Just saw a taping of an interview between George Stoumboulopoulous and Arianna Huffington. She's a great speaker and it was all to brief a discussion Check it out when it's on The Hour.
  3. JBT site and Phoenix site list this; Doors open 7pm Support act: Ki:Theory http://www.kitheory.com/ I'm guessin' that opener comes on at 8pm, JBT starts first set between 9 and 9:30? I wouldn't mind hittin' a patio somewhere. Maybe one with a TV that we could see what was happening in the game too
  4. Hey, have the mayors made a bet yet? What's the wager?
  5. Thanks for posting that setlist. I totally forgot their tour was starting. Looking forward to the gig in Toronto. Anyone else here going?
  6. That was 1993 and fate served the Leafs the plate they deserved. Whatever Booche. The 92/93 season then Tell me it wouldn't have been WAYYYYY better to see the Leafs play the Habs that year. After Montreal won all of those overtime games, and the Leafs battled to 7 games in each round against the top 3 teams ... it would have been one for the ages. Nothing could have been better than being at a Grateful Dead concert, watching the Habs hoist the Cup, drinking free beers, as Jerry and the boys were belting out the encore. I rollerbladed around the lot that night, wearing my Habs jersey, getting full support from all the Detroit fans (who despised the Kings).
  7. Don't cry Ollie. I was referring "their fans" as the collective. As for individuals, of course i'd be more happy for somebody I know personally who is a dedicated fan who has supported the team ... especially through the lean years. Hell, maybe I'll cough up a little CBC/HNIC swag for a few folks here
  8. Tony Salami ... great handle! Were they interviewing Don Cherry? Sounds like one of his pronounciations. Should be a character on the Simpsons.
  9. LOL ... good one. Lest ye forget that I am a born and bred Habs fan! I never wore a Leafs jersey as a child and couldn't stand them as I grew up in Toronto in the 70s and 80s. When they dressed some decent teams in the early 90s I was compelled to watch more and get some fine "local" hockey to watch. Since the Habs and Leafs didn't ever play each other that often, it never really proved to be a dilemma for me. And now, with the layout of the league, they could never meet each other in the Cup final anyhow (unlike they should have in 92). Who knows, in a decade or so, extenuating circumstances might make me become a Sens fan (like if my boy Jack gets drafted by them as a player). Until such time, i will not be a Sens "fan" but will appreciate the good quality contests that they are a part of. If they win it, i'll be happy for their fans, but no more so than for the fans of the Ducks (yes, they have some die-hard fans as well) if they take the Cup. Drop the puck!!
  10. Didn't a huge chunk of that place burn down the other year? Did they rebuild? I've heard that it is an amazing place.
  11. Most certainly not. This will probably rank as one of the least viewed Stanley Cups. Too bad for a lot of people, as it should provide for some fantastic hockey! That's what i'm looking forward to. Both sides are "deserving" in their own way for this championship. The arguments around the "Canadian-ness" or the city's that the teams are from are ridiculous. I'd rather see great hockey from teams representing small markets, than shit from the big cities. Every team is a member of the League. Therefore, they all have the right to raise that Cup.
  12. S W E E T great vid jayr! Whaddaya wanna do pre-show??? I think i'm going to stick around downtown after work. Catch a bit of the Stanley Cup game before show? Hang out in a park for some sun and chillin'? jayr, did you get a ticket for the show yet? Let me know if you haven't and PM me ... i can probably help you out. Time to put on some JBT.
  13. Ha! No friggin' way. It's all about the East dude! Hard enough getting people to watch this series as it is This has been much to long a break since the last series ended. I'd love to be tailgating this afternoon in the sunny California sun outside the Honda Place, catch a game at 5pm, then party the night away
  14. Have a great birthday Baj! I'll celebrate with ya at the JBT show Pizza at Little Goobers at noon ... you can even wear a birthday hat and get a lootbag :)

  17. http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=7271 Marijuana Intoxication Does Not Adversely Impact Decision Making, Study Says May 24, 2007 - New York, NY, USA New York, NY: Experienced marijuana users perform tasks as accurately after having smoked cannabis as they do sober, according to clinical trial data published in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology. Investigators at New York State’s Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University assessed the impact of acute cannabis intoxication on the decision-making abilities of 36 subjects, as assessed by the Iowa Gambling Task performance test. Volunteers completed the Gambling Task once sober and three times after smoking cannabis or placebo. Though cannabis intoxication increased the time required for subjects to complete their tasks, volunteers’ accuracy was not adversely impacted by pot. "[A]dvantageous card selection and money earned on the task were not disrupted by marijuana," authors concluded. "These data are consistent with previous findings that indicated that speed of performance on tests of executive function, but not accuracy, is disrupted in experienced marijuana users during marijuana intoxication." For more information, please contact Paul Armentano, NORML Senior Policy Analyst, at: paul@norml.org. Full text of the study, "Acute effects of smoked marijuana on decision making, as assessed by a modified gambling task, in experienced marijuana users," appears in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology. updated: May 24, 2007
  18. http://encore.celebrityaccess.com/index.php?encoreId=78&articleId=21720 Jack Bruce Says Cream Reunion In The Works ARTIST NEWS Posted: May 24, 2007 LONDON (AP) -- Jack Bruce says Cream is once again rising to the top. The bassist for the legendary rock group told The Associated Press on Thursday that he agreed recently to play an unspecified show or shows later this year with guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. Bruce would not say when the reunion would occur, but that it would not be the seven-continent Live Earth shows on July 7: "It's a bit later than that." Bruce recently told the Scotsman newspaper there was no chance the band would reunite because of long-standing tension between him and Baker. "Then, the next day, it came up we're doing something if I wanted to. Obviously, I'm not going to be the one to say no," Bruce told the AP during an appearance at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. Representatives for Clapton and Baker have not confirmed the reunion. Infighting and ego clashes between Baker and Bruce go back decades, with Baker once firing his drum sticks at Bruce during a show and Bruce upending Baker's drum kit. Clapton persuaded Bruce and Baker to reunite in 2005 after a 37-year split. But the ill will resurfaced, with Baker accusing Bruce of turning up his bass to deafening levels during a Madison Square Garden show, and Clapton appeared uncomfortable on stage. However, Bruce played those 2005 shows about a year after receiving a liver transplant that kept him alive. He hopes another Cream reunion would be less physically and mentally stressful. "I hadn't recovered properly yet, so I found it quite difficult," Bruce said. "Now I'm completely recovered so I would enjoy it more." Bruce made an infrequent performance Thursday, playing Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room" with former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke and Queen keyboardist Spike Edney before about 75 spectators at the Fantasy Camp. Bruce also played Cream songs with the camp's amateur bands, composed of about 50 rock fans who paid upward of $15,000 each for the privilege.
  19. You should hit the Bruce Trail. It runs from Niagara right up to Tobermory. Check out this site for some details. It's pretty much in your back yard too http://www.brucetrail.org/ I've gotta get up to Rattlesnake Point and go for a hike with the dogs and the kids soon.
