  1. Please do so!!! Rabinovitch is a bitch. Fucker has been siphoning off profits from the pension fund to funnel money into programming. Scammer. He's VERY much like Bettman ... weasel.
  2. stay off the grid man! Most people I know at work here have gotten hooked. Novelty has worn off for most and they are getting off of it fast. I went on under a fake name, etc. and checked a few friends and family out and their "friends" ... you learn a fair bit very quickly (whether it's valid or not).
  3. UMPHREY'S MCGEE 4/17/07 The Opera House, Toronto, ONT
  4. That's awesome. My kids would love it if Zimmy came to their kindergarten class My wife is a kindergarten teacher ... maybe i should contact Bob and see if he could play her class. The Neverending Kindergarten Tour 2007

  6. Here are a couple more ... again, enlarge the images first
  7. enlarge image, then scroll ... pretty cool.
  8. I agree Booche. I have been surprisingly impressed by Roenick. I couldn't stand Hull, and was never a big fan of Roenick either. However, he seems to have found a good spot to be. I like it when former players can put some of these fat analysts back in their place when they spout some of their shit. I'd like to see JR drop the gloves and pop Darren Dreger one someday
  9. Town Ballroom Love this place, and it's well run too. George Weston Recital Hall up in North York. The best acoustics I have heard. Big Wolly Mammoth, remember when we had that subscription there for the Jazz Giants? Killer. OVer a couple of years, I got to see Sonny Rollins, Chick Corea, Mel Torme, Joshua Redman, Ladysmith Black Mombazo, Julian Bream, Tony Benett, and more (have to pull out ticket stubs )
  10. There are a lot of bad venues. Performers could often eclipse the brutal qualities sometimes, but very rarely Rock and Roll Heaven (defunct Toronto venue) had horrible sight lines due to it being an "L" shaped room and massive columns in the middle of the floor. Varsity Arena also gone, thankfully. The closest thing i'd experienced to being in a tin can (esp Big Sug and Blues Traveler birthday gig in '96, also the Crowes) El Mo old upstairs layout. Long rectangular room and they put the stage along the side so that the majority of the crowd could ONLY get a view/sound from a side vantage point. Comfort Zone as much as I had fun at this venue, the low ceiling and not much of a stage/riser for the band, pillars, etc. didn't provide for sightlines (particularly frustrating for performers like Charlie Hunter who played sitting on a chair ... only the people right in front of him could see him perform on his wild guitars)
  11. I don't know why, but I just can't think of any for this topic right now.
  12. LOL ... sorry, didn't know that you were going to be in transit trying to listen to the game. Other option, get a headphone jack splitter and cozy up to some hockey fan on the bus .
  13. No Shit? I just put some JBT on before checking this thread. Love this dude. You gotta see them live if you haven't already. Buy you a brew at the May 30th show? I'm listening to some streaming JBT. They've got a player on his site that plays album and live cuts: http://www.jbtserver.com/audio/ipod.html
  14. Can you get an internet connection where you're going to be? If so, tune into the game via nhl.com: http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&page=Radio you can also get a video stream via the CBC: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stanleycup2007/streams/ Good luck.
  15. Very Cool indeed! You gotta love The Cup ... there's nothing else like it.
  16. LOL ... that's where you are dreaming It's NOT the same franchise. There are plenty of examples of this in other cities who've been awarded an NHL franchise for the second time and don't consider any stats from the previous franchise as their own. Most, of course, did come up with a new name Do the Minnesota Wild keep any banners from the North Star Days (who came from the Seals and Barons) up in their arena? Do the Colorado Avalanche lay claim to stats from the Rockies in their history? Do the Atlanta Thrashers maintain a tie/connection to the Atlanta Flames? No. When the Forum in Montreal was built, it was built for the home for the Maroons (happily it became the Habs' very quickly). Did the Habs keep the Maroons Cup banners up??? Noooooo.
  17. Hold on ... let me call "head" office in Toronto. Wait, they can't see it happening, therefore it's a no-blow. Sorry Booche. However, if the call had been made in Ottawa, you might have gotten a blow job!!
  18. Happy Anniversary!!! This also marks the 80th year since the Senators have won the Cup (you know, back when they had no off-side, no icing, just introduced 3 periods and standardized nets, still couldn't forward pass, etc.) Then they folded a few years later. note: The Cup winning Ottawa franchise has no ties to the modern-day Senators franchise, except for a certificate that was issued by the NHL with the new Senators franchise, proclaiming reinstatement to the league. However, banners honouring the original Senators' ten Stanley Cups hang from the rafters of Scotiabank Place. So ... Toronto Maple Leafs = 13 Stanley Cups Ottawa Senators = 0 Stanley Cups
  19. I would if I could (mind you' date=' Harry should go first ). Ever notice how Cole is trying to conserve the word "the"? He does this when he refers to the team names: "Here come Buffalo Sabres with the puck"[/quote'] That's cause he's saving his use of "the" for refences to Ottawa players. As in, "the Ottawa defenceman", "the Ottawa goalie", etc. as opposed to (successfully) referring to them by their real names. LOL ... too true. What the hell did he do back in the day when they didn't have names on their jerseys? I think it was during the playoffs last year when Harry or Bob referred to a player on the ice. That player clearly wasn't ON the ice. That player had retired the year before! Brain is mush right now, I'll have to ask my buddy who it was. We hit the replay dozens of times to make sure we heard what we heard and laughed. Harry and Bob we're clearly into the sauce that night
  20. Pronger and Niedermeyer are amazing to watch! I have a whole new amount of respect for Pronger. At this point it looks like Anaheim is on a roll and seem to be gaining momentum. Sad as it is, i think the Canucks are done ... hopefully the death blow will come soon and quick. Thanks JFJ for going with McCabe instead of getting a real defensive all-star like Pronger
  21. What's going on with the Canucks?? Where the hell is the scoring? I feel bad for Luongo. There goes my office hockey pool
  22. I would if I could (mind you, Harry should go first ). Ever notice how Cole is trying to conserve the word "the"? He does this when he refers to the team names: "Here come Buffalo Sabres with the puck"
  23. Buffalo was ROBBED last night. I don't care what the panelists on TSN had to say after, that was a fucking GOAL. In this day and age, why is it that if the game was played in another NHL arena, they would have had more camera angles. This is NYC for fuck's sake! I can't believe how many blown calls the referees have made in the playoffs so far. Worse, is the fact that most of the blown calls are in one goal games and dramatically effect the outcome. What a joke. With all the technology out there, there should be special consideration for the playoffs. Could you imagine if this was in the Cup final and was a deciding game??? (reminds me of that shit reffing that allowed Hull and Dallas to win the Cup!) Shit, all they have to do is put a chip in the puck and sensors on the goal line. They could make it "glow" 10 years ago for shit's sake. I NEVER thought I would say this: Bring back Kerry Frasier!
  24. They held on to that one last night. Doesn't fill you with a ton of confidence that they could allow that lead to slip away. Here's hoping they can do some miracle work in the swamp on Friday. Gawd, and people say the hockey playoffs take too long? This first round of bball is ridiculous.
