  1. Lots of weekly cheap deals at the big box stores (Best Buy, Future Shop, Costco, etc.) For a really good mail order supplier of blank media, check out this Canadian run gem. I've ordered a couple of times and have been very happy with their service, price and speed: https://www.blankmedia.ca
  2. Depending on what goals are allowed, how the clocks work, if clocks start or stop properly .... these are the scenarios for the rest of this series. Don't know if this is news or not, but i just got it here at work and thought some of you Sens fans could use it for planning your next few days (yes, yes, i know already ... the series will be over in 5 ... yadda yadda ) Ottawa vs New Jersey (2-1): Wednesday May 2 game - Ottawa wins (3-1) - Game 5 will be played on Saturday. Wednesday May 2 game - New Jersey wins (2-2) - Game 5 will be played on Saturday and Game 6 will be played on Monday Saturday May 5 game - Ottawa wins (4-1) - Series ends at Game 5, no game required on Monday Saturday May 5 game - New Jersey win (2-3) - Game 6 to be played on Monday
  3. I'm sure that Phil's would have been MUCH more avant garde From the samples on the website of this one, it seems to be much more melodic and easy on the ears
  4. I agree. It's a tough call though. What IF you play a couple of really valuable players in those "meaningless" games and they do get injured. There go the playoffs I think it's a drag for the fans too, since they were hoping (and paid) to see a team put forth their BEST lineup every night ... it ain't the preseason!! This reminds me of NJ choosing NOT to play Brodeur at the end of the NHL reg season Only 8 teams in basketball have rebounded from a 3-1 deficit in the playoffs ... or so i have heard. Raptor fans better lay it on Carter BIG TIME tonight. His numbers pale in comparison to when he's playing in NJ.
  5. GRAB was GREAT!!! Still love that show. I think i may have to listen to Mike & The Italians this afternoon while i "work" . So, you gonna come out for ZPZ??? It's a killer time for any fan who appreciates killer jams and awesome music (even if you don't have deep familiarity with Zappa's catalogue). Party on the Patio at the downstairs bar at the Hummingbird ... just like at GRAB
  6. I caught this show the last time it rolled through Toronto and it was AMAZING! Presale has been on for a few days, but i was just able to score 2 tix in row DD! Row KK, C, D, etc. were all available too. I highly encourage anyone who is slightly interested in hearing Zappa material played by incredible musicians, and Zappa family and alumni, to check out this show. It is well worth the coin! Last time we got a 40 minute live performance by Frank (on film) pumped through the PA and then a good 2.5 hour show by ZPZ. http://zappaplayszappa.com/ http://zappaplayszappa.com/tourdates.html This pic shows the layout from row DD being front row.

Dead Finale mvt XII Performers: Lee Johnson - Composer/Conductor Russian National Orchestra "The essence of the Dead's music was improvisation, and the root of that is an attitude that says transformation is at the center of all art. Dead Symphony takes different fragments of the Dead's music and reweaves them into a sparkling tapestry that satisfies a whole 'nother realm of possibility." Dennis McNally, Grateful Dead Historian and Publicist "When I was approached by Lee Johnson about licensing 10 of the Grateful Dead's most popular tunes for his orchestral work, Dead Symphony No. 6., my reaction was 'about time.' Always, listening to those songs over the decades, particularly in the context of the Dead's own musical sensibility which stretched to classical music and the 'orchestral' as far as was possible within the limits of rock 'n roll instrumentation, I'd wanted to hear a symphonic interpretation. In Lee Johnson's hands, it is the Grateful Dead's genius with melody which is brought out. He has shown that music has no boundaries." Alan Trist, Ice Nine Publishing Company The most completely realized symphonic masterwork of the music of the Grateful Dead. Proof of what Deadheads have known all along -- what they have been hearing and experiencing is bigger than mere words have ever been able to describe. When Dead Symphony no. 6 finds its way into your local concert hall, dancing might be a slight problem but the listening will be sweet. It was "China Doll" that opened the door for Lee Johnson, initiating his personal journey into the Dead, through an introduction by longtime fan and music producer, Mike Adams. Mike took the Beethoven, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich loving composer and introduced him to American roots music, as exemplified, by the Grateful Dead. Each and every recording, score, and lyric that was experienced and studied helped to pass the genetic material of the Dead's core essence into Lee's creative compositional mind. Johnson's symphonies now number eight and his body of work includes DVD Symphonic Films, and works for every genre.
  8. Looks like the coach of the year won't be able to coach his team into the second round I hope that they can have a much more consistent season next year and have more success in the post season. Don't let Vince get the last laugh on the ACC court!

  10. Great area KevO. I lived there for 5 years and loved it. THe proximity to downtown, the park, public transit, food, entertainment, culture, etc. It hasn't been taken over by the franchises yet. Good time to be there.
  11. "So, Koons snipped your balls too? She IS a bitch"
  12. Get your foot off that pedal ... i told you, it won't make me sound like Jerry!!!
  13. Anyone heard of this??? http://www.losingjerry.com/ Losing Jerry: Life, Death and Rock & Roll LOSING JERRY follows the personal journeys of three close friends from their happy-go-lucky, following The Grateful Dead, teenage party days to that horrible day of Jerry Garcia’s death, 15 years later. In between, the friends are forced to come to terms with the sometimes unkind reality of growing up. And then, when the friendships have been pushed to their ultimate limits, that painful phone call comes. Jerry Garcia’s death serves as both a catalyst and a right of passage; forcing the friends to face that which they fear and desire most. And through it all, the joy of The Grateful Dead's music and what it has meant carries them through. On the day of Jerry Garcia’s death, his Grateful Dead bandmate Bob Weir was scheduled to play a solo concert at the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. When word of Garcia’s death spread, Hampton Beach suddenly became Mecca for mourning fans from all over. Everyone wanted to be as close to Garcia as they could, and the best place to be was in the vicinity of his musical partner in crime for 30 years Bob Weir. The story culminates with the friends gathered together at Bob Weir’s concert. As the concert ends, the crowd in the streets spontaneously breaks into a time-honored Grateful Dead tradition, the “Not Fade Away†clap and chant. “Love is love, not fade away,†echoes through the streets. LOSING JERRY ends with love, forgiveness and hope rising from the pain brought on by Jerry Garcia’s death.
  14. Don't bother with a car rental. Amsterdam was not designed to drive around in. You can walk everywhere and they have a streetcar system. To get from the airport to downtown Adam you simply take the train!!! It only costs about $4, is fast and takes you right into Centraal Station. Need a tour guide to come along for the trip??
  15. Birdy, I HIGHLY recommend Amsterdam Escape Apartments. I stayed at one last year with 5 other buddies on a party weekend. We had a blast. It's like your own personal apartment. Decorated funky, includes all the hardware you need for your smoking pleasure, good stereo system, video games, etc. etc. They are all located centrally and the guy who runs the show, Brendan Bowie, will help you out with ANYTHING. http://www.amsterdamescape.com/
  16. I totally agree. If you want quality headphones you want to HEAR what they sound like. Imagine if they didn't let you listen to speakers? They do have a headphone sampling area at Bay Bloor Radio in Toronto. They have staff that actually KNOW what the fuck they are talking about too! http://www.baybloorradio.com/ Here's their April flyer ... lots of headphones: http://www.baybloorradio.com/images/bbrapril.pdf
  17. Wow. Wild game. Neither team was looking finely tuned. As crazy as a 4-0 lead in the first was, it wasn't truly reflective of the game play. Emery deserves a lot of credit for keeping them in. New Jersey didn't give up. They picked away at that lead and could very easily have taken it to OT if they hadn't choked on that 5th goal. Ottawa will have their hands full with the pesky Devils. This won't be a cakewalk, that's for sure. STill BLOWN AWAY at the BLOCKS of empty seats in NJ. You should do a road trip for the next game in NJ ... you could get a ticket easily in the lot by the looks of it!
  18. Hey Al, Remember when we were talking to them backstage in Rochester (96?) and John Bell said that they were slated to open up for the Dead at the two shows that were planned for Skydome? Man, what a bummer. Those would have been two killer shows
  19. LOL ... i can see that. Can you photoshop in a hat?
