I only happened to know because the other day I was looking for one of those rules, and I googled it - and the first link on the page was the one to snopes.com that mentioned that Bill Maher came up with those rather than George Carlin.
What's wrong with El Paso? I don't think you can overplay that song. I'm mailing Bobby a cheque for $5.00 right now based on how much money in back royalties I owe him for liking that tune all these years. I think you'd need to mail that cheque to Marty Robbins.
I think Crowded House was a great band, but... ...what? Similar song structures? I'm not sure how "Don't Dream It's Over" or "Weather With You" or "Pineapple Head" or any other Crowded House song has a similar structure to "You Enjoy Myself"... nor do I see any kind of lyrical connection between Neil Finn and Tom Marshall - not even close.
