  1. Pavement hasn't released an album in 11 years. Not sure what that discussion is about. And yes it's weird that there's a 2010 festival they're not playing.
  2. From The Star: One was for firing the puck into a group of celebrating Capitals after Jason Chimera had scored Washington’s fourth goal. The second came with 11 seconds left in the game when, while standing on the Caps bench, he reached out and whacked Nicklas Backstrom with his stick, or at least tried to. "Frustration," he said afterwards. "It’s not a good move, but you let ’em know you’re there." Good grief. By those words, one wonders if Puttin’ On The Foil Price is aware he’s playing for the most celebrated franchise in the history of the game, not the fictional Johnstown Chiefs.
  3. You guys know that in the past the Gold Circle seating is way off to the side right?
  4. For May 1, I'd recommend the May Whee! Festival happening at Zaphods. SATURDAY, MAY 1st. 10:15: SUNPARLOUR PLAYERS (http://myspace.com/thesunparlour) 9:30: SNAILHOUSE (http://myspace.com/snailhouse) 8:45: ROLF KLAUSENER (The Acorn) (http://myspace.com/theacorn) 8pm: LEIF VOLLEBEKK (http://myspace.com/leifvollebekk) 7:15pm: THAT'S THE SPIRIT (http://myspace.com/thatsthespirit) 5:30: MAY Wii! video games and more films on the big screen! 4:00: SCREENING - Lee Demarbre's SMASH CUT (tbc) 3:30: SCREENING - Matt West's THE FUNERAL AGAIN 3pm: DOORS
  5. Just saw the New Pornographers' tour routing and they end the eastern part of the tour on June 28 in St. Louis and start the western leg July 14 in Vancouver. I'd really doubt a one-off here in Ottawa between them. Unless the money was just too good.... Here's their eastern Canada dates: 06-15 Toronto, Ontario - The Sound Academy 06-17 Montreal, Quebec - Le National both shows with The Dutchess & The Duke and The Dodos opening. Full band lineup too: A.C. Newman, Blaine Thurier (keys), John Collins (bass, etc.), Todd Fancey (guitar), Kurt Dahle (drums), Kathryn Calder (vox, keys), Neko Case (vox) and Dan Bejar (vox, guitar, etc).
  6. Was also hoping for Baroness. Sharon Jones is always good at Bluesfest. More to be announced though. Plus the whole Byward thing.
  7. "Some people" are saying there are still 100+ acts to be named. I am not sure if this includes the Byward series or not. Overall I really like the lineup. Was hoping to see a few more acts who have new records to plug like Wolf Parade, Spoon, New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene (who will be here in the fall), etc. But yeah, good times.
  8. 2.5 months to go, no need to stress about calendars yet... still lots of holes in schedules to be filled anyways. and stages / artists always get juggled between announcement and show-date.
  9. Flaming Lips are in Montreal July 7... Ottawa date could happen. (I haven't looked at their route though)
  10. I think Elton John also announced a Kingston date in the same timeframe.
  11. I download a lot of music, go to a lot of shows and festivals, buy a lot of merch and sleep just fine.
  12. That band is cursed, Jesus. Very sad. Love the new record and they're great live. I wonder if they'll continue on.
  13. Dear Gary Roberts, Shut the fuck up. Cheers AD
  14. worst officiating ever? there's interference everywhere, all kinds of missed calls. so frustrating to watch. i'm sure my opinion will change once Ottawa gets the lead.
  15. i fucking love ba johnston
  16. Not Jays, but funny 6GIEHPGj9sI
  17. Actually I'm OK with Montreal winning, even though I hate saying it. If Montreal and Ottawa win, (depending on Buffalo series), I think Ottawa has a better chance facing Montreal than Washington. So, ole ole? (puuuuuuuuuuuuke) Watching the game tonight I couldn't believe how brainwashed these Montreal fans were. Fack. Tasty beer though. And beautiful women. Amen.
  18. Yeah.... That's what I posted. Geez.
  19. I am watching the game at Dieu de Ciel in Montreal and praying for all these bastards to be crushed.
  20. Foligno - Cullen - Fisher Smith - Shannon - Winchester
