I'm glad the gang is going to be there. I'll get there as soon as I can but moving and Nero in London is too good to pass up! But folks , I beg you. SAVE SOMETHING FOR SUNDAY! We don't want a repeat of July (I'm looking at you, Mr. Gruvsten)

but I'll get to see Nero in London Saturday night (yay!)
and then dust off the magic hat and call for "the back-up" cause I'm up on Sunday!

Michael Jackson a third time father
NEW YORK (AP) -- The latest thriller from Michael Jackson: Word is he has a third child.
People magazine reports that Jackson has a six-month-old boy, whom he calls Prince Michael II. He reportedly introduced the baby to his magician friends Siegfried and Roy backstage at their Las Vegas show on July 30.
The article in the magazine's Sept. 2 issue quotes an anonymous friend who says the baby was not adopted. No one will say who the child's mother is.
A spokeswoman for Dan Klores, Jackson's publicist, said the firm does not comment on Jackson's personal life.
The singer already has two children with ex-wife Debbie Rowe: a five-year-old boy, Prince Michael, and a four-year-old girl, Paris. The couple divorced in 1999.
"That's correct, Prince I and Prince II," producer Gary Pudney told the magazine. Pudney, who People said was a friend of Jackson's, said he met the "very cute" infant in April, and added that Jackson, who turns 44 next week, "is extremely impressive as a father.
"He had a very lonely childhood. His motivation in having children is partly because of that but mainly because he loves them. Now he has three beautiful children." (More on Michael Jackson)
Prince Michael II?!?!Magical Friends Siegfriend and Roy?!?!? Hold me, I'm frightened.

Hmmmm, most of those venues look a tad out of the way for the Southern Ont. Gang. Plus most of them are on a school night (I can't believe I have to start saying that again!)

Rheostatics w/ Bourbon Tabernacle (sp) Choir -Everybody Knows This is Nowhere

Anybody else addicted to this wacky show on City TV? Tonight (Wed) at ten.
BETTING STARTS NOOOOWWWW!

Not that you should immediately run out and buy it for this, but included in a cultural montage of the last ten years is a 1999 pic of the boys. Interestingly enough, the cover to OK Computer is in the same one.
If you don't already read this mag , I highly recommend it. This month is the 10th aniversary edition and features the article "the Simpsons generation" and a clay Homer on the front, but mostly it's a culture magazine.

Hey it's not too late for you to follow Brian to Korea! Just hide in his suitcase. Seriously though, sorry to hear that. No worries though, you one smart cookie. You bounce back.

AD, you should definitely try to hook up with Northern Wish. I unforunately can't make Evolve now but I'm sure he'd love to see you! They live in St John NB if you're up for the side trip.

*sniff* sorry, just need a moment here
The moment ends and I feel....

I went out and bought it on Jerry Day and have been reading it since. So far i'm a third of the way through it and it is extremely thorough. It also has these really interesting "interludes" in which you get a sense for what it was like to be part of the behind the scenes day to dayer's in the organization. So far I recommend it as it deals not only with the Dead but all the players around during that time. I read Scully's book too and while part of me loves that dirty rock n roll shit I hope this book handles the bad times a little more evenly. FULL POSTED REVIEW when I finish.
I think MarcO's reading this right now too, non?

Outstanding! My summertime tunes come to life in November. I am all over this show. Thank-you Northern Wish for the early intro.
By the way, there's a potential snag in the Evolve plans. We should talk soon. I'll be back in London on Thursday.

I had gotten up unusually early that morning as I had a day off (I was working in Grand Bend at the time) and I decided to boogie up to my old stomping grounds, Sauble Beach. In the car for the ride down, I had selected an old, old mix tape that a friend had made for me years before which contained a mix of live and studio tracks called "Steal Your Face *WARNING* May Turn You Into A Crazy Deadhead" (Interesting side note, it did!)Anyway, the tape contained a few songs that later that morning would prove somewhat ironic, more on that later.
So I get to Sauble, and one of my first stops is into the restaurant I used to work at. I walk in, say hi, only to find a message pinned up on the staff bulletin board saying "Scottie, I can't believe you're still getting messages here but Jerry called" Strange I thought. I did have a friend named Jerry but why would he call. I called him and work and received the news that Jerry had passed.
Now I'm not going to pretend to have the wailing torrents of sorrow that many longer term heads went through. After a bowl and a thought on the beach, I did shed a tear for Jerry, and for the fans and the scene. I continued my visit but having found most of my old friends moved on, I decided I was needed back in the Bend.
I hopped back into the car and the mix tape started again. And I couldn't believe it. The previous song, Mr Charlie, finished up and right on cue, He's Gone starts. What a drive. GDTRFB, Black Muddy River, Morning Dew, I found painful meaning in them all.
I got back to see my friend Heather on a park bench in her JGB t-shirt, crying away. I gave her a hug and told her we'd have a fire and it'd be alright. That night, a group of like minded individuals gathered and sang tunes and hugged and cried, wondering what was next for our people.
It's seven years later. I listened to many more shows. I have gotten into MANY more bands. The live music experience lives on. The family lives on. It was simply just time for Jerry to move on. On a happy note, that girl Heather is getting married tonight and I'll give her two hugs and have to make a request of the DJ to throw something on we can groove to.
Fare thee well, Jerry.

Hey Folks,
Lookin for some help with advice on Quebec camping. Me and a couple of buddys are doing a Montreal>Golf>Camping excursion. If you've got a can't miss spot I should know about....uh..let me know!
Thanx!

WOW! You go to the beach for a couple o' days and look what pops up!
I really have only one point to add to the hundreds of awesome points already stated but I'll try. This community ( and don't kid yourselves people, we are a more akin to a community than many things going in this world right now) is strong. There are 400 people here alone who have the opportunity to talk here alone. Peanuts ya say. Read on...
Now I have a fairly diverse group of friends, but if there is one thing they know is Scottie loves his music. They know I used to follow this band Phish around, I disappear for shows all the time, I cry on Aug 9, and I'll dance to anything with a beat. But it has been my responsiblity in the last few years to get the music out there. Don't just tell a friend you're into Phish, play them a live track. Throw SCI on at a party and see what happens. Do what you can to make them understand WHY you love it so. Remember, most 'heads started off by listening to another band first.
As far as the acts go, PLEASE......DON'T.......GIVE........UP! Let's face it, we will never have the scene our American cousins have. Demographics dictate that our population logically can't sustain that many people with good taste in music. But look at us now, we've got a scene. I'm staring at the Evolve line-up right now. It's just about not being lazy or snobby or apathetic. Support them all, support them often. I think the best idea suggested here is the university system. Get out of the bars and onto the campus.
Anyway, I've rambled on long enough. I suppose there's no better place or time in the world then right now to tell you , the bands both past and present, and the kind pholks all over how much I love this scene and how much it's brought to me......I'm a little veclempt.....talk amongst yourselves......here's a topic......Jon Fishman, neither a fish nor a man...discuss

"Homer, have you been licking toads?"
"I'm not not licking toads"
"...and it was all due to Yes-I-Cannabis.....we have a kitchen?!?!"
But the all time winner in my mind is still the Cape Fear/Sideshow Bob episode
"O.K. Mr Thompson, when I say your name and stomp on your foot, you nod"
"Gotcha"
"Hel-lo Mr. Thompson............................."
"I shink he's talking to you"

Sorry gang! Got sucked into beach life again. Expect responses tomorrow (Sat)

The unstopable march of education continues....
I had a realtionship like that with a girl in my English class in university and I'll bet dollars to donuts that these two ended up shagging after a heated debate about Marg Atwood.
Or something like that.

Well tomorrow's the big day so I'm kinda just venting my stress over this to my fellow Sanctuarians. I've done this plenty of times before but it never gets easier.
Any tips/ last minute reminders/ support would be appreciated. I go offline for about a week after tonight so if I don't see you at Frontiertown, see you on the other side.
