  1. Let's see we've covered Robbins, good, good

    Vonnegut, excellent

Hunter S., Prayer for Owen Meany, Heartbreaking Work, Eco, all would have been highly recommended by me

    So what have we missed?

    1. The Alchemist - Pablo Coelho

    2. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenace - Robert Persig

    3. I just can't stress Tom Robbins enough - JITTERBUG PERFUME!

    4. Ken Folliet - The Pillars of The Earth

5.Timothy Findley - Not Wanted on the Voyage

Currently reading...Welcome to the MonkeyHouse - Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

PS. Did I mention Tom Robbins?

PSS Did I mention I'm home sick today and the Neo Citrin may have taken over?

  2. Booorrrrnnnn Free!

Ride, Gentlemonkey. Ride to the mountains. Make sure to steal as many office supplies as you can for the long trip. Embrace life away from the desk. The Sanctuary will be here when you get back. Whatever you do, take care of your shoes.

    good luck lads!

  3. That's right, it's been awhile so let's visit each other's CD players and see what's been spinning...

    BNB 3/28/02 - Bu-bye, bu-bye, bu-bye

Trey Anastasio Solo Debut - makes me "horny" for June (get it? Horny? I kill me)

Badly Drawn Boy/About a Boy Soundtrack - Weirdo music I'm strangely drawn to (whoops, more bad pun) By the way, hold up a picture of Gentlemonkey and this guy...the same, non?

GD 6/18/74 - one of my first tapes recently acquired from gdlive - my first taste of Loose Lucy and BRUTAL Donna in Weather Report

Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Scottieking special Mix - includes some tracks from the new one Plastic Fang

(+ Gomez- In Our Gun, ND 5/17/01, and a sizable Stones kick lately - today, Goat's Head Soup)

    Bring the noize!

  4. Sure does! Got the chance to have an extended conversation with him in Toronto a couple of years ago and not only is he a really nice guy, but he's so smooth and well spoken. At one point we were talking about what it was like in front of 90,000 in Florida and his answer was so well-put. And his voice really does sound like it does on the tapes.

  5. scottieking checkin in early today....

There's only been one car to the car I've had previous to this one (97 Grand Am) and that was...

WHITE LIGHTNING! 1989 Chevy Corsica (1998-2001)

So named from the quote in Dazed and Confused "See White Lightning over there, you gotta get some shoes for this thing, man"

So beloved was this car to me. As the back filled with stickers, the backseat filled with garbage, the trunk with anything you could think of from King Lear to a single piece of firewood, the years piled on. It was faithful as a slot machine. But time and time again, breakdown after accident after winter after summer, it stayed alive. Whenever people called me from afar, they would always ask "How's White Lightning doing?" Some of you have even met her. She's been to tons of shows. But alas, it came time to move on. White Lightning was bleeding three colours and the engine block cracked two years before didn't look like it was going to hang on any longer. I broke it off this past fall, thinking for sure to wreckers she'd go.

UNTIL I driving back from my parents place and lo and behold, on a main street in Walkerton, in the freezing cold, parked but still alive, there she was. Still had my stickers on her, still alive. It made me feel good somehow to know she's still alive, still OK.

    But that doesn't mean I don't miss her. Everyday. frown.gif" border="0

  6. maybe I'm showing my age here but...

Dinky Cars! At the beach, making entire cities, Hot Wheels, Matchbox they were great

I used to love my action figures too. Star Wars, He-Man, Super Powers you name it.

With friends, my buddy Todd and I used to spend hours spying on our sisters. Used to love to make mini rivers with the spring run-off in the field and then getting our boots stuck (remember rubber boots?) Massive snow forts. Good times in nature.

  7. I wanted to be Spider-man, but it didn't work out (numerous trips to the Bruce Nuclear Power Development yielded ZERO radioactive spiders).

Then I wanted to be a pro musician but I couldn't pick which instrument I liked the best. Never made it bigger than headlining a long weekend in the Bend.

Now, I'm a high school teacher, which come to think of it requires equal parts educator, superhero and rockstar.

Think I'll put that on a business card! cool.gif" border="0

  8. Okay ,help!
