  1. See, this is what I need! A film crew to follow me around to fill in all the blank spots from weekends like Frontiertown.

Seriously though, thank-you Greg for just being there and for going to the trouble to throw that up here. Biggest smile of the week for me! [big Grin]

Thanks too to all the Britney backers out there. I still can't believe that crazy little cover has become a weekend highlight. I'd love to see the jam that came out of that someday too. Dr. H was conspicously absent.

Note too the amount of breath and gloves visable. CLASSIC!

  2. I can see where you're coming from NW. But there's two issues at hand here. Would you have been as upset if the gig were an hour away and cost less or is it the principle of breaking up and a quick reunion?

The money thing is tough beans, I know but hey, this makes up for all those ridiculously cheap shows you used to catch at the ACC [Wink]

As far as the break-up or lack there of, I can't tell you how depressing the Guelph show was for me, because that was the best jamming I'd ever heard them pull off. I also can't tell you how much I was smiling at Frontiertown this May when they all took the stage. They were ON and I prayed there would be more again.

Here's what I hope can be avoided. A constant "we broke up/we're back/we broke up thing" If the BNB is going to be just a temporary band so be it. Personally, I think they still have a ton to give musically but band's are tricky, maintaining personal relationships for longer than 5 year is tricker. Looking forward to Come Together in July, Downtime whenever, whatever other band members may try and of course, here's hopin a little BNB (and NorthernWish a little S.T. and N.C) at Evolve. Did I just hint I might be going again......

  3. I had no idea the Brittany was priority material. I'm flattered. Sooo looking forward to see the film, Greg. It'll be great to see how the scene looks on tape. Still leaning pretty heavy towards the East Coast for August. [Wink]

  4. MarcO - Mother Superior Jumped the Gun - I was going to get this going at the end of the week but since we're on it here goes...

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - great album in the full album sense

Drums and Tuba - ever since Frontiertown - lots from the DCN network

    MMW - Uninvisable - Unbelieveable

Phish - 12/29/98 SDB- it just jumps out of my collection and wedges itself in there for a week

Ocean's Eleven Soundtrack - David Holmes is the shit - if you like slick beats along the Propelerheads/Herbalizer Band vein, check it out

Book of the Month: The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test - Tom Wolfe

Movie of the Month - Donnie Darko - Don't let the packaging fool you. This guy is the next David Lynch (scariest bunny ever!)

  5. Little teacher tip, Ms Hux. Have some sort of hook early on. A hook is anything you can do to grab the audiences attention or suck them in. Now I don't know what your presentation is but you could use anything from a series of Socratic type questions, to a video clip, to a visual aide. For example, today I'm teaching about Quebec identity in history, I just began by having the class list three things key to their identity and three things key to the Canadian identity. Then followed in by asking what they'd do if someone wanted to slowly take that away (spouse/USA) and THEN hit them with the beginning. You see the concept? It gets them thinking as opposed to jumping right in. Hell I've seen cookies be a hook before. ANYTHING to get them listening to what you're sayin. Hope that helps.

  6. No problem folks! Great to meet and hang with y'all. Get out of those wacky states pronto and home for a rest. You guys make a wicked pitch for Evolve. I don't have to teach until Sept so I'm running out of excuses. See you soon. [Wink]

  7. I've stayed out of this for as long as I could but anyone who knows me knows me as a long time Buds supporter. Love'em or hate 'em, they were something tonight...

But I jumped in to comment on the Bettmen/Mclean tilt. GO RON! Bettman's a jackass and McLean looked like he's been waiting to do that all year. By the way, we counted how many times Bettman touched McLean. 14! Can't wait to see Grapes on this.

  8. First Step - Rye. (or booze of your choice)

Second Step - Cry. (You'll feel better)

Third Step - Buy. (Something that'll distract you and take your mind off shit)

Fourth Step - Goodbye. (Unless you plan to start a museum, put all memoriblia far away and seriously think about what's worth holding on to)

Fifth Step - Don't Try (so hard. It'll go if you let it)

Sixth Step - Harry Hood. This doesn't rhyme but I dare you not to smile at the turn around.

    Good luck.

  9. Indeed. I've been putting in 12 hr days at the school everyday (including weekends) for the last week. Play starts tomorrow! It's been all about priority and having the brain power to remember to do it. I'm still playing and I've not given up but there were a couple of days there were the picks did not get made. Hopefully we can catch up, maybe a runner-up prize?

As for the Tom and Ian pool, those Blues better figure out Hasek like they did at the end of last game or I'm never going to see the top of that hill again.

  10. I saw it in the theatres and it was the shit. I'm totally grabbing the DVD for when I teach philosophy. Just be prepared to do some serious thinkin and keep your eyes peeled for all the Dazed and Confused alumni.
