  1. You might check out High Lonesome Wednesdays with Crazy Strings at The Silver Dollar Room for some good bluegrass (I haven't seen them, but I've heard good things about them). I took Bradm up on this recommendation and it was really fine. Show got started about 10 and moved through some very tasty traditionals. I really enjoyed the old sytle central mike setup with each member stepping in to sing/harmonize or bust out a blinding melody. The staff were really cool too. I topped off my evening with a ride on the streetcar and got totally lost downtown. I was dumped out of the spadina station after lights out. I lit one and walked in the general direction of my brothers place, humming, my mind tapping the hidden rythyms of Bluegrass.
  2. A deep and gracious bow to you Schoolie! I'm humbled to be you friend. How 'bout a face plant into birthday cake? Just for the fun of it! g
  3. Say it ain't so! How about one of those keyboard dealies while yer at it? Having heard RG fill out all the Dead minus two instruments, I can imagine what you guys would do with the full onslaught. Hmmmm?
  4. fer sure Scull. I miss jammin with ya too. Looking forward to your next visit down in K-Town. Have a swell evening!
  5. What Mark said. You can pretty much see the place to the west from the bus station If it weren't for all the construction. You'll have to walk around that at the entrance to the park but if you can see the clocktower you're heading in the right direction. The Boathouse is past the skating rinks and fairly well "marked" and lit up. cheers!
  6. It's true...the little beggars! And btw take a wild guess whose chunk it was?
  7. I don't think we've actually met, Z but from one to another we will pass all things kind and from somewhere or other we can all shine. Draw from these pages of good will. g
  8. Happy Happy!! Wishing you everything that's kind george
  9. Thanks a heap for the pics, tilt. You're getting a lot of mileage out of that new camera, I see. As an aside I spoke with Mike the owner of the place late on saturday (early Sunday) and he just loves this crowd and all the fun we have with our good friends and goood music. He's been a very accommodating guy over the years for any of the mini festivals and shows that happen. Next time your in the Lanc, if you see a big guy in his mid fifties, with a happy face, leather jacket and a LARGE glass of red wine, tell him thanks as well! Thanks again to everyone who helped put it together, mixed it up and made it taste soooo good! So, next weekend all over again, right?
  10. how 'bout 4H or Phill McKracken and the Enemas or The Justin Case Band
  11. Man there's alot of very nasty noises out among the english and I'd agree with a few here but my personal best/worst one is just that. Its those ultrasonic scalers that the dentists use now. I can handle most of the cranies but I seem to have a few harmonic points along my jaw that for some reason sends a deafening howl of vibration right up to my inner ear. It makes me well up with tears that I'm too embarassed to wipe away and I feel like a small child lost at the fair.
  12. uhhuh. The early stuff really did offer some decent chunks of meat in that 80's metal stew. Today's crowd scene might look like a bit like a dead show, if only in terms of the age of patrons ... with more black and studs ... less colour and beads I would consider the price of a ticket.
  13. Thank you to everyone. Marcel was one of my oldest and dearest friends. god, we've known each other since we were kids and spent alot of our time trying to stay young at heart. Its the wheel, you know, the very first conversation we had so many years ago, so young, was under a sky of stars, lying on our backs and contemplating the big and small of the universe, wishing there were some way to go beyond ourselves, find some answers then come back and share what we'd learned with everyone. Fly Marcel
  14. Yay Davey, now yer in the largest loop imaginable. 's beautiful, really. Just wanted to say thanks to those who come out to the show on Friday. We had a blast playing with Ricky on the kit. For a first-off kinda thing with no rehersals, he dropped in the pocket fast and deep. Thanks again Ricky, even our endings were tight. Not one train went off the rails that I can recall;) I also hope we planted a few seeds to open this venue up for regular acts. Seems that the staff and patrons say Sat's are the best night to play anywhere downtown Galt. We'll just have to keep slogging this one against the ground until juice runs out of the bag...
  15. Why? Are you not one for the set? Will you get the toss? Any one riff will kill you. You see? Run and fall, how can you get off? ( Whoa, CJ. too much time on my hands today )
  16. BUMP Are you still deciding what to do this Friday? You have time to finalize your plans. Come see Ned Wreck and the Crops in beautiful downtown Galt...
  17. Best of all things good for you guys. Hey how about some sort of cosmic connection between Ned and Tad? Let's say at precisely 11:02 pm this Friday night the respective drummers mallet their floor tom at 72 beats per minute. Don't forget to record so we can study the results of this temporal experiment geomouse
