  1. Good luck. Last I checked, you could still get a single obstructed view seat, if you're desperate...
  2. It's been a while since I've been at the Mansion house... I imagine in the summer there will plenty of room to dance! Hope I can make it out for both!
  3. Congrats! And I'll second the recommendation for Allen Carr. It's been almost six months for me, I bought the deck of cards instead of the full book: A coworker of mine found the book too repetitive and therefore frustrating and therefore she wanted a smoke, but the mini book in the card pack was nice and succinct. The best part was passing the it on to someone else who wanted to use it, when I was done.
  4. I just had a look and registered and everything, it looks great. I do have a suggestion, was wondering if its possible to get an RSS feed of our personal calendar? Or even just a way to link to our personal calendar or share it?
  5. Could you use a reusable bucket for the cat instead of plastic bags? Like a kid's sand pail or something, then dump it and wash it when you're done. When I was a kid there was a guy in my neighbourhood with a big furry sheepdog, who would stick a plastic cup under the dog's butt as soon as he crouched down into the pooping position. Not sure if it would be easy to train a dog to be okay with that, but it sure was amusing to watch.
  6. Both places mentioned so far are a little far - I have to walk the bike over. I guess I am hoping someone has some personal experience with someplace they can share. To be honest, I don't even know what would be a good price and what would be expensive for tuning up a bike...
  7. Do you know anything about them? Like if they are expensive or cheap or any good at what they do?
  8. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to get my bicycle tuned up in Hamilton? It's a pretty basic bike, and I don't want to spend a fortune, just want to make sure everything is in good working order. Bonus points if it's walking distance from my house (King & Victoria)!
  9. Awwwwwwww she is so precious! I don't know what else to say, I just keep looking at the picture and going "Awwwwwwwwwww"!
  10. I got phone ringing... then it rang and rang and rang until it turned into the fast busy signal. And the website is being uberslow, so that didnt work either.
  11. How bout a guided meditation/relaxation tape? I have one that I have never heard the end of, it works so well. Bendaryl always knocks me out, as far as over-the counter stuff. Bonus if you are actually allergic to something. Oh, and if you count sheep, it helps if you picture Shaun the Sheep. Or just be excited and awake! I mean, a wedding *is* pretty exciting.
  12. Anyone get Toronto tickets? I had no luck.
  13. There's a link to TO, but it says that tickets go on sale at 1pm (not 10am).
  14. I was a 'campcraft' counsellor many years ago, I'm trying to remember some of the things we did... You could put signs up around camp with simple symbols, and use them for simple orienteering/mapreading activites. Like number all the spots with signs on a map, and make the kids run around and find which numbers go with which symbols. Or using a compass, make a route for them to follow like "go 25 paces north" leading them around to the different signs. With the little kids, they can just run around looking for the signs. You can even make a compass by rubbing a nail against a magent, and floating it in a cup of water: http://www.easyfunschool.com/article1352.html Can you have a campfire? Roasting marshmallows, making smores will keep kids happy. You could get them to plant different seeds to see what grows - sunflower seeds, carrot tops, avocado, you could even make the grass head things with a nylong stocking full of dirt or something. You can also make dyes out of different foods and stuff (onion skin, tea bags, fruit, walnut shells).
  15. The poor tortured muppaphone: (which makes Marvin Suggs my least favourite) or, if muppets not from the Muppet Show count, then Boober Fraggle: Honourable metnions to Pepe the Prawn, and Scooter.
  16. Artpark concerts were some of my favourites last summer! Especially America, too bad they are playing so late in August this time.
  17. Don't forget those overnight lows. It going to be really cold at night - bring extra sweater and socks! Or just giver a little harder to stay warm. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/cities/can/Pages/CAON0201.htm

    BBQ

Mmmm we've had a few good rounds or burgers now. Went to the Farmer's market yesterday, so the burgers were nice and fresh last night. We also got bacon, which QQC and Schwa and Bryan are BBQing right now... I'm a little worried. It'd better be crispy!
  19. OH Deb I totally forgot about your bunny! Twitchy can have it all, don't worry about Costanza. And if you need a place to get a lot of shavings cheap on a regular basis, I recommend TSC stores if you have one close enough: http://www.tscstores.com/ I have four guinea pigs now, not just the one, and a monstrosity of a cage, so a few garbage bags full might only fill the thing once or twice. Do I get to post some pictures now? I mean I mentioned my adorable pigs, I get to show you how cute they are, right? The most amusing ones I could find.... Here's Costanza with his (spayed) girlfriend Maci: Tanuki (Costanza's arch nemesis, but a lover of people): Chrysanthemum, my little diva: Oh yes, and the thing I fill with shavings:
  20. What kind of wood is it? If anyone wants to drive it Hamilton, I'll take it
  21. Just got an email to say I won passes to the event, but not the prize pack. There's supposed to be free food and it is sponsored by Steamwhistle so maybe free beer too? Haven't decided if I'll go or not yet. POG I think I saw your name on the winners list too: http://www.nowtoronto.com/cgi-bin/EH/EventHandler.cgi?Actn=Entry_Form&Fnm=wilco&User_ID=contests

    BBQ

Thanks MOBE, I'll have to try that steak marinade sometime. We've been grilling lots of peppers, we had some yummy porkchops with a molasses rub, last night Craig made walnut and parm encrusted chicken breasts, and tonight I'm going to turn some ground beef into burgers, I think.

    BBQ

Awesome, thanks. Luckily I work in a bookstore and I know we have it in stock. I always see his books but never really knew if the recipes were good or not. So I can have a look at it - I am interested to read about brining. I had come across it in my googling, and am curious! This one: http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/item/books-978156305866/1563058669/The-Barbecue-Bible?ref=Search+Books%3a+'Steven+Raichlen' looks interesting, too. We also got a pile of the new cookbook by the guy from License to Grill in stock recently. I have never watched the show, I wonder if it that one is any good...?
