  1. Yeah, I'm really surprised by the comments. I've had slow service there, but the food has been awesome every time I've been there. Weird.
  2. I was talking breakfast here, I've only had one other meal there ever, lunch, and it was top notch.
  3. Exact same brekfast menu as SD's - hence my encouraging people to still go, let's keep this place alive - the food is too good to lose!!
  4. Too bad we missed you at the game. My hope is that whenever the Lynx do leave, that hopefully we are in line for a AA/A team still, hope so, would hate to see that stadium go to waste.
  5. They still have the same breakfast menu as SD, although they are going to change the dinner menu. I want them to stay in business so if you liked SD's you'll still like it!
  6. The Lynx are back, I think this is their last season in O-town Not sure if I can make it yet, but I hope to - anyone up to some brews at the park?
  7. I want to hear Ringo and Phil do an accapella "Because" or more appropriately "Be-caaaaaaaaaazzzz"
  8. I heard Lennon being really wasted was part of the story somehow. Hey booche, there's still time to bring Phil and his Beatle-equal - RINGO! you should make it happen.
  9. A friend of mine sent this around this morning. On May 11th 2005, a week before Belinda had crossed the Floor, she had shown up at Darcy McGees. I spoke with her that evening (while she was still a Conservative) "I really admire you. You could be doing anything you want and you chose running for public office and though, we may not share the same views being from different parties, I applaud you for being a role model for all women." She had thanked me and asked me my name and what I did etc. etc. On May 19th 2005, I saw her again at the party following the confidence vote... Not only did she recall meeting me but she remembered my name... This is no small task for a politician, as most of you can appreciate, and an even bigger one when you are someone like Belinda Stronach, having met thousands of people in the last couple days... What all of you don't know is... I had just finished a series chemotherapy treatments- the night at Darcy's, I was wearing my blonde wig - the night after the confidence vote, I had gone there bald. Later, when she was thinking of running for the Leadership, as my former boss was running her potential campaign, he asked me to travel with her to Halifax. I felt very torn back then, as she was not the only candidate I considered supporting and I felt pressured... So, I decided to go with her to Halifax but had told them I'd decide after the weekend. As soon as I entered the building with her, other Leadership teams simply assumed that I had joined her team. As a woman, I also know that we are each others worst enemies... To make a longer story short - It was time for me to do MY part and support a woman candidate. So, I grabbed her Campaign Director and said flat out - "I'm in, but under no circumstance am I accepting a penny. All I want is my expenses paid, that's it, that's all. I'm not going to be told that I'm supporting her because of her money." During that month of travel with her, I got to know her. Only two adjectives describe her best - extraordinary and exceptional. Let me assure you, Belinda never became CEO of Magna because she was Daddy's girl. She is extremely intelligent and is able to analyse a situation in ways I've not seen any other politician come close. She's ambitious in any role and wants to see results... not tomorrow, today. She is genuine and she is a wonderful and generous person. Belinda thanked me more in one day than some of my former bosses thanked me in over 2 years. The Liberal Party has lost a part of their soul today. We were privileged having her as a immediate member of our family and very few have her poise, her person recognition or her international influence. She is a class act and I am grateful for everything she has done for me professionally and personally with my latest battle with cancer. So, today, I ask that everyone, whether you're a Liberal, a Conservative, an NDP, a Bloc, a journalist, a columnist, a woman, a male, an average Canadian - go to spreadthenet.org and spread the net in honour of Belinda's contribution to public life.

  13. Federal budget long on politics, short on vision By DAVID SUZUKI Well, you’ve got to give Stephen Harper this much – he’s a great politician. His budget, delivered recently by Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, masterfully doled out the right goodies to the right people at the right time. In other words, it was an election budget; one that practically screamed “Love me!†Mr. Harper knows that winning a majority in the next election means he needs to be more likeable and appear more moderate. This budget was his way of proving to Canadians, particularly people in Ontario and Quebec, that he’s really a nice guy. Mr. Flaherty’s speech, which described Canada from “the majestic Rockies†to Newfoundland, managed to exclude an entire province from the dominion, but he’s not courting the West anymore. Geographic blunders aside, the budget was a solid piece of political posturing. But will it be good for Canada and Canadians? My take is that when you attempt to appeal to everyone, you appeal to no one. Like a formulaic Hollywood romantic comedy, this budget comes across as trite, but relatively inoffensive. Blink twice and you forget about it. Of course, that can be a serious problem if the country is looking for leadership. And in talking to Canadians, that’s what I keep hearing. They want the direction to charge ahead and really change some of the things that are bothering them. Right now that number one thing is the environment. According to a recent report, Canada ranks a dismal 29 out of 30 industrialized countries in terms of environmental protection. This is a black eye for Canadians who see themselves as environmental leaders. In fact, Prime Minister Harper has frequently trotted out that statistic to castigate the previous Liberal governments for inaction on the environment. Last fall, Canada’s independent commissioner on the environment, Johanne Gelinas, also pointed out that Canada has fallen behind, and really needs a major retooling of how the country deals with environmental challenges. Her report called for a “massive scale-up†in our efforts to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming. And that’s where this budget fails. There’s no plan, no real acknowledgement of Canadians’ No. 1 concern, no indication of a massive scale up – merely a series of largely unrelated projects, most of which already existed under the previous government, only to be scrapped by Mr. Harper. Now they’re back, repackaged like laundry detergent with “new!†splashed across the box. One of the few really new environmental initiatives is the feebate program for new vehicles. Under the feebate system, vehicles that are heavy polluters (like big SUVs) are charged a levy, while those that have a smaller environmental footprint receive a rebate. It’s one way to encourage drivers to choose more efficient vehicles that will help reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Really, it’s a very modest form of carbon tax, though Mr. Harper would be loathe to admit it. Unfortunately, on its own, the feebate system won’t amount to much. A more effective way to reduce pollution and greenhouse gases from cars would be to phase-in an across-the-board carbon tax, or institute strict new fuel efficiency requirements for all vehicles, as California has done. But the kind of leadership we’re seeing in California, complete with legislated targets and timelines to reduce pollution, is seriously lacking here. Far from being the massive scale-up called for by the environment commissioner, there’s very little in this budget that will reduce emissions at all. There’s still no plan, no direction and little in the way of vision. Take the Nature Challenge and learn more at www.davidsuzuki.org.
  14. Wow, everybody knew the talent-challenged bouche phoned it in in BGH, but that is a pretty serious personnel omission there bradm.
  15. BGH will rise again. Andre and Dave won't be involved, but the mighty acoustic phoenix will rise from the acoustic ashes. Acoustically.
  16. Every song in that Dreamgirls movie, Christ those lyrics were painful, couldn't finish watching it actually (on a plane I did not rent it).
  17. Good call on not giving Phil a mic.
  18. This is pretty big news for Dylan fans. He played it for a good chunk of his tour-opening show last night in Europe. I'm not sure when he last picked up the axe, but I'm sure Greg could tell us. Bob Dylan 3/27/07 Stockholm, Sweden 1. Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) (Bob on electric guitar) 2. 2007 Budget

....but that might not lead to a Conservative Majority which is the overwhelming focus of this Budget - the next election.

    2007 Budget

Well, deal with it. Why are people's opinions worth less or frustrating just because they're shared with others? Dissent for the sake of it is bullshit. Spare us.
