  2. Looking good! http://hughsroom.com/2013/01/a-celebration-of-levon-helm/ Friday April 26, 2013 Tickets: $25 Advance/$30 Door Performance: 8:30pm featuring The Weber Brothers John Dickie (The Cameo Blues Band) and other special guests The Band: Jerome Avis Lance Anderson Terry Blersh Rob Gusevs Dennis Pinhorn David Dunlop John Johnson Chris Murphy Gord Myers On the anniversary of the passing of The Band’s legendary drummer and lead vocalist Levon Helm, we are proud to celebrate his life and great contribution to the music scene of Toronto with an All-Star concert of his music. Levon came to Toronto in the 50′s with Rompin’ Ronnie Hawkins, from Arkansas. Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks were Canada’s premiere bar band. He brought that southern rockabilly beat and deep knowledge of traditional roots music to the staid streets of Hogtown. And he shook it up. Levon and the Hawks inspired a generation of Toronto’s best players, to look to the foundations of Rock n Roll, and learn from the masters of blues, soul and gospel. This night we will play the music that Levon made famous with The Band and Bob Dylan. Also we will play music from his solo outings with the RCO All Stars and from his Grammy winning CD’s: Dirt Farmer, and Electric Dirt, amongst others. Led by our musical director, Juno award winning producer Lance Anderson, we have assembled some of Canada’s finest players. Our drummer Jerome Levon Avis is Levon’s Godson. His Dad, Bill Avis, was the Band’s road manager for most of their career. This will be a special night for both as we honour the man, their friend and his music, with stories, favourite sayings and memories. But mostly with music. A nine piece band featuring The Weber Brothers (who have played with Levon) , John Dickie (Cameo Blues Band, John and the Sisters) and other special guests.
  3. Look who's making the Exclaim headlines: http://exclaim.ca/News/days_of_you_return_with_you_belong_where_you_go Days of You Return with 'You Belong Where You Go' By Alex Hudson Days of You formed way back in the late '80s, but the Toronto jam band genre-fusers have been largely silent over the past decade. That will change on April 30 when they release the comeback album You Belong Where You Go. The record has reportedly been in the works for two years following the group's 2010 reunion. The lineup features longtime members Mark Thackway (guitar/vocals) and Steve Himel (bass), along with new additions Anton Helman (keyboards) and Jamie Grossman (drums). The new tunes were eventually recorded in 2012 with Michael Phillip Wojewoda of Rheostatics. According to a press release, "Most the ideas for the songs on You Belong Where You Go came to Himel while he was imagining his newly discovered biological family. People he should have known but didn't. What were they like? How did they feel? What were they doing? As the songs took shape, their half-drawn characters began to fill the spaces." Although this album isn't out for a few weeks yet, you can stream the entire thing below, courtesy of the band's website. Days of You will launch the album on May 4 with a show at Toronto's El Mocambo. You Belong Where You Go: 1. Waves 2. Bittersweet Virginia 3. Any Way The Wind Blows 4. My Tell Tale Heart 5. 5. I agree with Phorbs... Even though I am the one getting completely screwed in this instance (though rest assured I am working hard to figure out a way out), I appreciate these measures.
  6. Faaack. Should've read the fine print. Anyways, I will do my best and see what happens.. And will report back. I wish I could just go, believe you me!
  7. Uh oh. I really did buy my tickets as a gift for someone - I will not be anywhere near Canada on the day of the show. I hope there's a way around this.
  8. Hmm, where did you see that? What if I bought my tickets as a gift for someone else (which is what I did)?
  9. So, when or how do we find out where our seats are eh?
  10. Woah, I got some too!
  11. Wasn't it The Blade on the skins that day? The website says Mister Steven Nistor.
