    Book Of Mormon

I am going to that! On April 30th. I think it might be opening night. Should be gooooood.
  3. Last Friday afternoon I was sitting in the lodge at Jay Peak, VT, sipping on a heady apres-ski IPA with a few friends, and we noticed about 3 feet away a couple familiar faces lugging in very heavy looking analog keyboards and such. Turned out it was none other than Ray Paczkowski and Russ Lawton, who together are Soul Monde. Couldn't believe it!! I had a good chat with Russ about the Toronto show. They were supposed to fly to Toronto from Newark (maybe) the Wednesday before the show (I think), but the flight was cancelled so they bus'd it up north. They had band practice on the Thursday. Someone in the band is going out with Jennie Garth (aka Kelly Taylor), and I guess she was along for the ride and at the Toronto show. He showed me pictures that he took of the hotel they stayed at - the Ambassador I think? Anyways, he said they enjoyed being in Toronto, and he got a real kick out of me telling him about the speculation around these parts about a possible Phish show in Toronto this Summer. Was pleased to hear that there is something like a scene up here. He said the only other time he'd been to Toronto was with Robert Randolph, opening for Clapton at the Amp. Sadly though, they weren't playing until 6pm which was 2 hours away, and we'd already been sitting in the lodge for 2 hours drinking beer.. and had to get back across the border to this farmhouse that we were staying in in Mansonville. So I didn't see them play. :-(
  4. What a treat to see Cyro Baptista play! I guess I hadn't put much (any) thought into who might be in his touring band these days. Good times indeed.
  5. I am on the lookout for May 3-6, heading to Montreal for a stag. Not much going on yet, except for this one Maiden tribute band that looks pretty on the money. I will come back to these links in due time.
  6. Thanks Brad! Just what I was looking for. Good to see ya (briefly) on Friday.
  7. Does anyone know of a good online source for upcoming shows listings for the belle ville? I did a little Googling but didn't come up with anything. Merci!
  8. In! Doors at 7pm and showtime at 8pm says trey.com.... Making my hopes of getting over to Greek Town in time for a nice pre show meal pretty slim.
  9. I would love to buy one of those off you Freaker!
  10. Anyone looking to get rid of 1 extra ticket for Trey next Friday? I can help!

Harto and Phorbs, if you are going to give Murakami another go, I recommend skipping straight to Kafka On The Shore. By far my fave of the 5 or 6 I've read, and I think you'll like it.

It took me a long time to get into this one but I'm now finally at a point where its moving along quicker. So far, not my favourite by Murakami but we'll see. I am enjoying it though for the record.
  15. This thread is always good for reminding me how little I am listening to new music throughout the year. Several of the albums I was going to post, upon fact check, turn out to have been released in 2011. But I like reading about your favs and then chasing after them.. and then a few months later listening to them. I have just a few: Doug Paisley - Golden Embers METZ - METZ BADBADNOTGOOD - BADBADNOTGOOD BA Johnston - Hi Dudes! Bands that I got into in 2012 that I am excited about: - Fucked Up - METZ - Mouthbreathers
  16. I think he still plays at The Cameron House in Toronto several times a year.. Most recently last night. But the listings don't always make it to his website and I usually notice after the fact. What's this about Bonnie Prince Billy?
  17. A friend of mine is organizing a Leonard Cohen Tribute Night. Thurs Jan 24 at The Magpie in Toronto. I'm helping her to spread the word. Check it out if you are a fan or if you're interested in playing a song or two. http://www.facebook.com/events/305957266170507/ :surprise:
  18. The floor of the Danforth Music Hall is all seats, isn't it? First come first serve I guess?
  19. I managed to snag 3 GAs, and a friend who I was on the phone with got 2. Huzzah!!
  20. My friend runs a weekly open mic in Belleville. He plays Dylan and Dead and whatnot.
  21. From the Phish e-newsletter (which 70% of you have probably already seen by now):
  22. Anyone know what the number-of-ticket limit is for this Friday's presale?
