  1. add: one thing about lee's is you don't feel like you are going through airport security when you go in. everyone there is cool. and you can fucking SEE the show from just about anywhere in the venue. try getting a drink during a show at opera house, you spend the rest of the evening staring at the back of the head of the guy who got his drink 5 mins before you.
  2. lee's palace is the best venue of that general size in toronto i think you know what really sucks... the opera house.. and phoenix. yeah, i'd have to say those two are tied for worst.
  3. what's all what? the dawson city music festival? it's all awesome is what!
  4. If you can make it into a weeklong vacation, go and volunteer and you will be fed food and beer all week in return for putting some tents up and riding around in pickup trucks all week. And if you work really hard you will be in for the weekend for free food, drinks and music. They know how to treat their people there.
  5. i dont' care if i only get 5 bucks... the bigger the pain felt by the providers the better (the gouging bastards)... they have certainly put me through enough pain in my life...
  6. No problem.. if you apply and get in, can you get my girlfriend and i up there as crew members? ;-) we volunteered there in summer 2006 and it was probably the best vacation/concert/festival experience of our lives...
  7. convert to euro now before US$=peso usa can't continue printing money forever with no real standard behind it (gold or otherwise -- oil doesnt count)
  8. does anyone know how i can get in on it? i argued with those bastards at rogers on many occasions about their stupid system access fees and they told me that it was a gov't required fee. i need my revenge... http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2007/09/19/tech-cellphones.html?ref=rss
  9. i'd like to see another full show.. pjc maybe? the casbah show was too short! also, these guys need to get an application in for dawson city music fest... DCMF and JMATS will love each other mutually, i'm sure.

  13. Hey, my girlfriend and I can't make CTMF Friday (saaaaaaad) due to family obligations. We'll be coming up Saturday Afternoon for the rest of the weekend though. I'm not sure how this would logistically work but if one or two people were looking at going only friday, maybe we could share a weekend pass? If anyone is interested, please msg me through the site... we are in Hamilton (but that probably doesn't make a difference... I assume we'd have to meet on site Saturday anyway). So sad to miss fatcats :-( ... still looking forward to a great weekend though!

  15. any word on how these acts are breaking down by day? i'm not sure we can make friday and I want to know what we'd miss!
  16. Hey.. just got around to reading the Eb thing -- interesting article. He kind of equates favourite key to favourite colours... it's an interesting comparison, but I think it's more powerful than that. For example, I think that when people say "favourite colour", they are referring to a conscious decision, or a general whim. It's less about true feeling. I was thinking that this whole favourite key thing might be much more akin to scent. In my mind, the act of listening is like the act of smelling. You can activate that sense in order to detect and recognize specific things (smells or sounds). But the "deeper side" of each sense is more subconscious. Like when you smell a certain thing, maybe you can't even pinpoint WHAT it smells like but you get this wash of reminiscence come through you. Maybe the same could be said for music, especially a particular key. So, perhaps when you are very young, you build a subconscious appreciation for a certain scent due to pleasant memories (even as a baby) -- the same thing could have happened if your parents listened to their favourite song over and over while giving you affection as a toddler... your brain never forgets that. Anyway, I think that scent is a very feral sense, and that's pretty well recognized. But there's also something definitely "magical" about the brain's ability to appreciate music. Hearing is more than just an ability to recognize a growling wolf so that you don't get eaten. The math behind it is very intriguing to me, but this idea of a subconscious feral layer to music appreciation is pretty cool. I'm gonna have to start tagging my mp3s accordingly now :-)
  17. Interesting, I'll read up on e flat. I love this kinda stuff. Here is some crazy shit about intonation which blew my mind when i first read it: http://www.kylegann.com/tuning.html I have to say though, elizabethtown is the worst movie I've ever seen. However it is kind of funny due to how hilariously AWFUL it is. You kinda should watch it just so that you can appreciate reviews like this: http://efilmcritic.com/review.php?movie=12837&reviewer=1
  18. if you are looking for the barefoot feel, the vivo's are the way to go. I spent about 3 days straight researching barefoot stuff and they seem to be the clear winner. i want them, but they are over $100 and hard to get (i.e. shipping is probably gonna cost 50% of the shoe price)
  19. Really? I like the feeling of my toes being separated. KINKY
  20. These also look great.. negative heel: http://www.earth.us/index.asp
  21. I want these.. super thin puncture proof soles for the barefoot feel: http://www.vivobarefoot.com/
  22. That video is hilarious.. I love how they show the empty container like it's some sort of dire thing. Then they talk about how "all the evidence is gone". Then all the parents are pretty much laughing about it all. Great clip. Also... we don't need no stinking badgers.
  23. i can't decide if i like the pirate outfit or the pimp outfit better. at least with the pirate one i know there's a chance of seeing you wear it in person. if you wore the pimp outfit on stage i'd buy a t-shirt.
