From crazy drunken Rob from moe. spun out in the lobby, to multiple N20 incidents in the lot to YEM perfection to Holdsworth ruining the best show I had ever seen.
..can't believe that was 2 years ago
I can't believe it's been two years etither, but I have to disagree with you on the Holdsworth issue. True, he couldn't really keep up and shouldn't have been out there for as long as he was (Kid Rock, anyone?), but seeing the originals out there twenty years after it all began was incredible, and for a brief moment was about more than the "here and now," as it were.

I know that at least a handful of Skancs were there, and I remember being able to distinctly see BradM down front from where I was sitting.

What an awesome night that was.

Yeah, I definitely missed something...I think. If there was something to miss, I missed it. What with the people "quitting" and all (quitting a message board seems a little odd to me, but that's just me), I gather there was, indeed something to miss.
Meh.

Hello, math police? I'd like to report someone who can't count to five, please.

I was pissed maybe 2 years ago when he cancelled at Bonnaroo to go play the Country Music Awards or something. But I guess 1 set versus 1 song is an easy decision when you consider his physical problems.
AD
I was a little bummed too, although it was because of carpal tunnel (sp?) syndrome in one of his wrists - he had to cancel a bunch of dates, not just Bonnaroo.
Can't wait for this show.

Did this board turn into Phantasy Tour?

This thread is epic, but it was way more epic on Fall Tour '97.

Dark Star Orchestra in Burlington (VT). Really psyched for this one.

Maybe I'm being too cynical then. I just remember that I was working at a place last winter that had CHEZ-106 on all the time, and in the weeks after the announcement was made it seemed that every second song was a U2 song - damn near drove me batty.
-
U2 annoys me.
Bono really annoys me.
Die-hard U2 fans really, really annoy me (in terms of their love of U2).
I don't know that I could deal with being in Ottawa today, although I know that most of the people who attend the show are going to have an incredible time. It's just not my cup of tea, so I'm glad I don't have to smell it all day (the tea, that is).
That is all.

From PT. Not something I fully agree with, but a pretty hilarious read when taken in context.

Last night, we got together with Koons, Steve Jobs and Bobby to talk openly about the strong feelings we've been having that the Internet Archive has run its course and that we should end it now while it's still exactly the way it should be. Once we started talking, it quickly became apparent that the other greedy bastards' feelings, while not all the same as ours, were similar in many ways -- most importantly, that we all love and respect money and the "willing to spend every dime we have, because we love this band" audience far too much to stand by and allow it to freely drag on beyond the point of vibrancy and health. We don't want to become caricatures of ourselves, or worse yet, a bankrupt company. By the end of the meeting, we realized that after almost 3 years of teasing the fuck out of you we were faced with the opportunity to graciously step away in unison, as a group, united in our greediness and our feelings of presumption. So iTunes will be the final resting place of The Vault. We are proud and thrilled that it will be charging 0.99 a song, thus padding our pockets even further. We're also excited for future Dicks Picks and DVD released shows, one more thing to spend your money on, together. For the sake of clarity, we should say that this is not like purejerry.com, which was our last attempt to revitalize ourselves. We're done. It's been an amazing and incredible journey. We thank you all for the expensive cars and large houses that you've given us. You've been "Koons'd"

Alright, now I'm genuinely pissed. Taking off the SBDs is one thing, but to not allow downloading is going too far, I think, and violates the spirit of the band and community.
-
Disappointing. It's their music, but damn is it ever nice to be able to get it for free.

I dig it in a big way. When I first heard it, I was worried it would be little more than a party-trick type of disc, but I really enjoy it.

Wal-Mart is actually the number one music retailer in the United States. Extra boo.
It sucks that people are buying music?
AD
From Wal-Mart? It sure does. Their decency regulations (censorship) can drastically affect an artist's finished product, and the more people that buy their Ashlee Simpson CDs at Wal-Mart, the tougher it is for smaller independent stores (or even decent chains) to stay in the mix and carry things that most of the folks around these parts would want to see in a record store.
End Rant.
-
Someone has put together a complilation of all the tracks (mostly live) used in the film. Not a substitute for a full show, but cool to have a soundtrack of sorts. Here's the link to the thread I started about it in the BT Forum.
Enjoy.

Wal-Mart' date=' Best Buy, Target, Amazon.com, FYE and Circuit City all scored higher than iTunes [/quote']
boooo.

Hey there Hartamophone - still the possibility that you will have crash space?
Hey man. Still a possibility for sure, but I can't say one way or another right now (which I know probably doesn't help you). I'm living in Ottawa now and am only down there on weekends, and where I crash when I'm down there depends on a bunch of things. If it's possible, I'll hook you up for sure, but I won't know for a little while. Hope this doesn't leave you hanging too badly - I'm glad to see you can cancel at Econo Lodge right up to the week before.
Peace,
Hart

How y'all feelin'?

When is this thing and how much coin are we talking, all in?
The weekend of March 17th-19th is when it's happening, and you're looking at around 4-5 hours from T.O., I think.
-
Festival Express - definitely a must-see for both performance footage and candid looks at GD, Janis and The Band all partying together.
Last Waltz - can't go wrong with The Band, Dylan, Neil Young, Emmylou Harris and Neil FREAKIN' Diamond.
-
I wish they'd FREAKIN' announce who the other performers are going to be.
-
Welcome aboard, Low Roller. I haven't been able to get most of my friends to appreciate 'em, but I dig 'em in a big, bad way.
-
So I guess it's the Internet's fault that Phish broke up. I'll have to call Mike after the show and let him know - he's been wondering.
Awesome!

A little from Column A, and a little from Column B. He does, after all, remember when dime bags cost a dime (according to his cameo in the high art film "Half Baked").
