  2. Kenny. Rogers. I did not see that coming.
  3. Love seeing that South African flag waving proudly at the front of the crowd during Phish.
  4. Hell yeah! Second longest show ever, apparently. Really hoping to get to Moncton for the Magnetic Hill show in August.
  5. Good times last night. I wouldn't exactly call the band "polished," but they certainly had their moments, and seemed to get more comfortable as the show went on. Great seeing you Brad, and RobL as well.
  6. I'm in Ottawa for a few days, and will likely be checking this out for a beer or two. Thanks for the heads up, Brad.
  7. Zing! I see a few acts on there I would like to check out. It's certainly not a lineup of mind-blowing proportions, but I can see myself springing for a day if I'm in Ottawa at that point.
  8. I wondered if maybe one of his kids was sick, or perhaps there was some other specific reason for this. It seems that that is not the case, though, as I would think he would have mentioned that in his official announcement. His statement would be a graceful retirement message, but comes across as absurd given what he is doing. In terms of unloading him, perhaps once his no-trade clause expires, they could ship him to a low payroll team that needs to make the minimum cap hit? From what I understand - and correct me if I'm wrong - he likely won't be getting paid but will still be a cap hit, so it could be a good situation for a team in danger of falling below the league minimum payroll.
  9. I find this to be rather bizarre, and can't think of any other players having done something similar. Given his (not really relevant to this discussion) political beliefs, I chuckled when I read that he has moved to Colorado Springs. That town is about as conservative as they come (no, really).
  10. I heard educated speculation about Bon Iver playing Folkfest.
  11. Wow. Earl Scruggs, Levon Helm and now this. Been a rough couple of months for roots music. Thanks, Doc.
  12. Have you thought about giving the tickets to someone who is heading down, and seeing what they can get for them at the gate? I know I've done that in the past as a last-ditch effort to unload, albeit not for Bonnaroo and with mixed results.
  13. I've never been to that venue, but I wouldn't hesitate to pay forty bucks for them in a decent room (he said, pretending that the price quoted includes taxes and fees).
  14. So great to see Stone get a point, and watch the monkey fly off of Spezza's back. Not the most confidence-boosting win, but it counts. Who's Canada's team now, bitches?
  15. So sad. I dare say he had outlived his rock and roll life expectancy, but still. Thanks, Levon. Ramble on.
  16. Probably my favourite yet, DB. If you keep it up I'll have to put you on the payroll. There is actually just about any kind of legal work you can imagine in Yellowknife. Aside from being a city of around 19,000, it's the main centre for government and commerce (including mining) in the three territories. There is also a distressingly high amount of criminal work available. All of that being said, I'm unsure of where I will end up. I am currently a free agent, looking at Yellowknife, Ottawa and a few other spots. Fun times!
  17. Different strokes for different folks, but you missed a hell of a show. A great intersection of band (on fire), venue (beautiful and intimate) and crowd (respectfully engaged).
  18. Funny that the Allman Brothers Band is on that hologram lineup.
