  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading that for something to be legitimately "Screwed", Screw himself had to do it. Anything else is a (potentially well-done) imitation. The fact that Screw is dead means that there will never be any more truly "Screwed" mixes out there.
  8. Wow. That's...exactly how you described it.
  9. Here's the performance from the Grammy's:
  10. Bummer, man. Crazy Nanaimo drivers for ya. Hope you heal up soon. Peace.
  11. Just got back from what was a fairly enjoyable show. He does more with percussion than Xavier Rudd, which was a big plus for me since that's where my musical background is. He laid down some pretty serious tribal rhythms on the djembe(s), and put on a really high energy show. Definitely worth my eight bucks.
  12. Happy early birthday, brother. Hope the year ahead is rife with peace, joy and general tomfoolery.
  13. WOO HOO! Glad to hear it, brother. Congratulations.
  14. Mornin'. So one of the great things about going to see the types of shows most often associated with this little community we belong to is the potential for musical cross-pollination. Multi-band festivals and even co-headlining shows often end up being rated by the caliber of sit-ins that occur. Special guests can end up serving as a type of melted cheese on top of what are often already delicious musical helpings. So today's question of the day is: what's your favourite musical cheese? Mine has to be a well-placed banjo sit-in. While I really dig what can happen when a DJ makes an unlikely guest appearance (such as Logic with the Flecktones at Berkfest a few years ago), I really enjoy the added texture that some banjo can bring to a jam. I'm also a big fan of how versatile the instrument can prove to be when played well (though that's more a testament to individual players than the instrument itself), and how it never seems out of place. To me, everything sounds better with some banjo thrown in, just like everything tastes better with cheese on top. So....?
  15. I'll wait for the full story, but let me be the first to state the obivious and say that that's incredibly uncool. When they're working, cops have a job to do, and I respect that. That said, when you're off-duty at a rock and roll show, it might be time to take it easy, Farva.
  16. Word up. Just checked out this guy's MySpace and he seems to bring the Xavier Rudd vibe. Anyone seen him live? He's playing Victoria next week and I might go check him out for shits and giggles. Any input would be appreciated. Peace, Hart
  17. Sonofabitch. I catch these guys for the first time in Victoria last weekend, just in time for them to head back to my old stompin' grounds. Balls.
  18. We need a Justin Timberlake forum.
  19. Gotta love the annual batch of summer tour rumours. Personally, I'd be surprised to see any of those artists on a stadium tour, for a variety of reasons (not the least of which is that I don't really see Phil and Friends as being able to fill Giants Stadium). It would, however, be great to see Phil and Bobby make the rounds of summer sheds this year. We shall see.
  20. Oh hell yes. I had only heard a handful of their tunes until snoe.down last year, where I really got into them. Big fan, for sure. If only they'd come out West.
