  1. Happy birthday Mike.

There's a futon stumbling distance from the bar with your name on it if you need it.

Thanks for all your help over the last 6 months ... good luck tonight and much success in the next decade ;-)

See you at the Vinyl in Gelf.

PS Sorry if I misread the good-natured-ribbing as negativity. This information super highway stuff makes hard at times.

PPPS [color:purple]My band (the Inorganic trip hjop funksters that have known eachother for a week) is going to put on the best show that ever plugged in and there will be free beer and a ferris wheel....need venue. Please advise.

  3. Well the negativity in this thread

Press Release : Chamelon Project and High Plains Drifter Tour

is way thick and essentially it started with some kids taking their first tour which is a huge step and I would think the music supporters of the board would be excited that one their own is making a move to being not just another band on a local bill.

I assume it has to do with the iriitation that is felt by some because Jaydawg and JC are hard working in trying to get people out to see a band that most on this board have yet to hear.

I am wondering what the etiquette is regarding the promotion of your own projects in this forum.

I am in a similar situation as JC in that I have a band and believe in my tunes. It has taken me a year to get a following going in my humble little town of Guelph of which I've lived for 6 years and in short time I will be trying to get the band in front of some new crowds. Jesus that's gonna be tough.

I obviously don't want to fall out of favour or annoy anyone around any town, but the fact is it's really hard to get people out to see a band that they've only recently heard of, and between writing, recording, practicing, booking and just managing the people and their relationships in our 4 piece I'm spread waayy thin and need support from a lot of angles.

My questions for the veterans of the board are...

How much promo is too much?

Is it a "particpation in debate" to "advertising posts" ratio kinda thing?

Should it not be done at all and am I pissing people off with the signature on this post?

Should advertising just be kept to banner placement?

Just wondering.....sometimes I think I'd like to donate some money to the maintainer folk of the board to let them know that I appreciate their efforts and all they have inadvertantly done for my music and the people around it, but dunno if that's the flow or what.

    Much respect.

    Looking forward to your insight.

  4. There goes any and all focus on Africa at the G8 meetings. Thanks for coming out Geldof' date=' but nobody will care now.[/quote']

Exactly what I was thinking. Amazing what a few bombs can do.

Just heard on the CBC that due to Tony Blair returning back to London. The G8 summit decisions could be virtually impossible when it comes to issues such as climate change.

Dunno what the full impact of this may be, but it'll be interesting to see what the G8 leaders do in response to Blair's abscence.

  5. do people actually come to your shows? why do you keep coming on here trying to promote you lame ass band? you guys suck, especially that guy who tries to play the congas

Hey Douche watch your weak ass self on the Karma front.

With all the madness going on in the world at any given time you think you might try to help out rather than resort yourself to cowardly pointless ranting.

What instrument do you play mouthy?

  6. Check these guys out!!!!

Chipotle/Passenger are one of the best 3 piece bands going ... bar none.

Real example of solid musicianship without attitude.

Their vibe, sound, grooves (dangerous rhythm section) and willingness to push their sound around is a much appreciated constant in the Guelph music scene and always a treat for the ears and soul.

Been listening and loving this stuff for 4 years now.....yeeeehaw!!!!!

Do yourself a favour and get your ass out to one of their shows.

    See you Friday aft.

  7. Hello,

My forefathers are biggots and BIG surprise they are also Catholics. God bless the society of the guilty and paranoid.

If my father didn't realize his flawed upbringing, cast in the shadow of the most stringent interpretation of the Good book and move to fix the warped view of the world he was handed, I'd likely be a disgruntled work-a-holic with an NRA membership, rueing the day slavery was abolished.

Think for yourself. The line of sight of your forefathers was undeniably blurred by archaic values they inherited from the cave people from which they came. It's your job to de-program yourself.

Maybe if they didn't believe the world was flat and got out more they may have realized that all kinds of people can be happy in all kinds of ways and it has little to nothing to do with their, and by virtue of your forefathering logic-your, INDIVIDUAL pursuits.

I haven't the patience for you viewpoint today, but good for you for being brave. Now change.

  8. HEHEHE

It is blatantly obvious to me that if I rocked as hard as the guy in this story that I would be found in that parking lot that night...likely pantless and undoubtedly institution worthy.

Dude pounds a bunch more mushrooms with the aid of a muthfull of tequila.

    Party on Wayne.

  9. I don't think he's completely off the mark with the criticisms he has for psychiatry and the prescription of anti depressants.

I think he is considerably innarticulate though in expressing his view point.

I think that there is likely a story behind his contempt for the institute and a personal pain he feels due to some "psychiatrically victimized" friend.

His Ex-Wife is obviously about as in touch with life as a glazed ham so maybe it stems from her escapism or maybe his own. Dunno.

His totalitarian approach to psych is a little off-putting. My belief is that at the crux of the job is one person in a room with another trying get a patient to face their problems head on and become a little more at peace as a result.

He seems only to want to focus on the negative aspects but, again I think this comes from a traumatic experience.

I've pretty much uttered the same things about friends I've seen go on anti-depressants. They glaze over....and sure they seem better, but I saw little in the way of sustainable healing.

I had a friend try to kick them and ended up in his words "feeling like [he] was on bad mushroom trip he couldn't escape and at a lot of points couldn't even really acknowledge until the 6 months passsed and it was over."

Spare me the "that's awesome" with regard to the 6 month mushroom feeling.

It took one look in his eyes and noticing the weight and zest for life he lost to realize this shit was not funny and he really could have fallen down a slippery slope that may have ended in suicide or perpetual dimensia.

It's pretty fucked up that this shit is prescribed hap-hazardly after all that we should have learned over the last century.

  10. Yeeeeehhh frickin haw!!!

    That was a blast.

this was our first chance to play on the Vinyl Stage in Guelph and it was big fun.

We hada great time opening up and I think we held our own, managed to get a few dancing b4 Wassabi took the stage and on a personal note I had so much fun playing with the boys and sharing our sound.

We sold a couple of CDs, met some nice people, and got a lot of positive feedback.

Special thanks to Burtman2 for making the trip from Toronto to catch us. Much appreciated buddy!

It was my first time seeing Wassabi and I had a great time dancing to their relentless grooves. Not a bad Thursday all in all.
