I am extremely opposed to this statement ;-) Actually I do believe some compromise around this issue has been proposed (i.e. moments of silent meditation as a substitute). This issue is likely to set people off though. To me it is as simple as the following. Is Canada a theocracy? No. I wonder if those in favour of the prayer being held onto in public proceedings would like to see other religious customs brought to bear on the public law itself? Shold religious custom if deemed part of our heritage actually have influence on the outcome of the legislative proceedings, if not than what is the function being served here.

We'll yank it from the anthem once we get it out of the legislature Ollie. God? willing.

Though I will be the first to admit that my fear of Christianity is peaking at this point in my life, I don't believe it is this fear that fuels my tendancy to agree that the Lord's Prayer shouldn't be espoused in parliament. If I were a member of provincial parliament, this "tradition" would make me uncomfortable and would seriously conflict with what my education had taught me about the separation of church and state. It's a duplicitous event and one that starts the new sitting of parliament. Kicking off a political term with confusion and as I said duplicity is little backward don't you think?

Definitely one of the first things I noticed too. I too was born and raised in Canada and have nothing to do with Christianity other than hoping that it takes it place in the private endeavours of the those who believe.

I enjoyed this show. I have been a Lyle Lovett fan for a while so seeing him was a real treat. Great voice and nice guitar work. I did not really know any Hiatt and ended up enjoying a lot of it. Hiatt's guitar playing on some of Lyle's tunes I could have done without though, he's a little amateur when it came to soloing, and not really listening. Also Lyle's guitar was seriously too loud the entire set...don't know how a sound guy misses that. The relaxed and witty conversation between tunes was great. Prodding Hiatt on why he had smashed a couple of guitars in the past and felt the need to write a tune about it Lyle Lovett remarked that Hiatt's Catholic upbringing was likely a factor (in confessional sort of light) and that it was good to see that they were making some progress on the stage tonight.

What are people's thoughts on tribute acts making the fest? I'll throw Serena Ryder in on that along with Lez Zeppelin too because Serena's only album with widespread sales is an album of middle of the road covers. Your thoughts?

Guelph's generally in a pretty bad way live music wise. Couple of venues changing their scheduling approach and local bands not being as abundant as they once were. Hoping it turns around soon. I will definitely spread the word the next time you're around. cheers Deeps

Never saw them. Busy bitch I am. I am always in a state of either gigging and promoting or rebuilding in a basement somewhere, so I don't get out to see many shows. Heard a lot of hype abou them and they didn't dissapoint.

Just got back. Loved this band. Played the hell out of their tunes to about 20 people. Gotta love an inspired no matter what band. Good job Rev. Cheers, Deeps
