  1. Almost forgot. The Acorn also were also quite impressive. 2nd best set I saw on the weekend me thinks. Deeps
  2. I saw Akron/Family. They absolutely ripped it up and definitely went home with the most notable set of the weekend. Mr Something Something was pretty solid though I think the politics were a bit of a detraction to some in the late Sunday tired crowd and thus the dancing was not as excited as I thought it might be. Enjoyed the Sadies, Good Brothers, Thunderheist and the Abrams Brothers as well as Broken Social Scene and Culture Reject. I thought the bill overall was a little uninteresting given the 25 year anniversary celebration, but I rarely felt like I should be somewhere else and that's a bonus.
  3. Happy birthday 'ersh. Steve
  4. Happy belated birthday Luke. Cheers Steve
  5. You think John Bell sounds like' date=' Greg Allman, Dickey Betts or Warren Haynes??? I would never equate his voice to sounding anything like the Allman's. [/quote'] Admittedly my exposure is limited, but that was definitely the sound I remember hearing when I saw WSP twice. I was trucking along listening and enjoying the music and then came the sound that made my fun turn around. Just sayin is all.
  6. I am definitely in this camp. Though I feel the same about Widespread Panic's singer too. The raspy Allman Brother's-esque wailing is a little dated and cliché these days no? *ducks*
  7. Definitely in the list of things I will never say. I bet it was a good show though. Welcome back. Deeps
  8. Not mine; I'm still going. Located in Guelph. PM me. Steve
  9. Enjoyed the show a lot. Gatch taking solos here and there was a rare treat. Lot of broken glasses last night. Country bands.
  10. Original titleish ... can't exactly remember. Woman Denied Citizenship in France due to her muslim garb. No I wouldn't think that either Ollie.
  11. First sentence of the link is.... You can see how I was mislead .... subject changed thanks. Though I do believe her clothing had a bearing on her denial of citizenship. I think the French government is totally justified in their decision. They are kind of known to be hard asses on this kind of stuff and the English speaking world gets in a tissy about their hard-line assimilation stance, but this comment from the article seemed to make sense.
  12. Happy belated Mike. Great set last night. Cheers Deeps
  13. Happy birthday Mr. Tonin. Deeps
  14. See ya next week with Ms. Evans.
  15. Evans and I made a brief appearance on Saturday night to catch the Fat Cats followed by the Steve Murphy Band. The intimate setting was strange, but provided a good chance to see these bands with their guards down a little. Which was a treat for me. Fireside jam with Sheebs and her bro was also a very nice addition to a strange and great weekend.
  16. Monorail Schwa is entering the birthday station. Hide the children's eyes.
  17. Have a good one New Rider. Steven
