  2. I may not care much for Ringo's solo music, but in my opinion you'll be hard pressed to find a more respected musician, and by that, I mean respected by his peers - a lot the very musicians and bands we claim to love and respect. Putting aside his time with the Beatles, his solo career and to a much lesser extend his TV career, the list of musicians/albums/concerts Ringo has played with and/or worked with is huge. Take a look sometime, if your not already aware of this. You certianly don't get a résumé like his being a hack, at least in my opinion.
  3. No one gave Def Leppard the Stanley Cup instruction manual? By Greg Wyshynski The Detroit Red Wings may be feeling a twinge of embarrassment after their 3-2 home-opening loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night, in which the Stanley Cup champions passed the puck like a remedial-level pee-wee team. That is, until Def Leppard's Joe Elliott redefined the concept of embarrassment during one of their NHL Face-Off Rocks segments at the Fox Theater in Detroit. This is what you get for booking a band from England: Drive on the wrong side of the road, place the holiest of holy hockey grails on a pedestal upside down. Epic, epic fail. Even Draper's kid had the good sense to poop in the thing right-side up. This was the proverbial slow-motion car crash; like on "The Price is Right," when a contestant is about to put the $199 price tag on the tube of toothpaste and the crowd simultaneously shrieks "NO! NO!" You saw him turn the Stanley Cup the wrong way, and you just wanted to reach through the television and flip it back before he put it down. If only someone on stage had helped him. Why couldn't the drummer have lent a ... bit of moral support? Aw, shucks, we all make mistakes. We can't stay disappointed in a band that gave the world the arena rock magnificence of "Hysteria." link
  4. Cheers my friend, I picked a bottle of that up last night and my first drink later tonight will be in your honor, I'll make it a double. All the best to you & Lynn, as well everyone else. Have a great long weekend.
  5. I know I saw a thread (or post) by someone here a couple months back about all this. Might have been another board, I don't remember exactly. A lot of the Afghan farmers, at least in a small portion of the country have switched to growing wheat & other crops, and considering that naan is made with wheat, for example, and is a staple food of the Afghan diet, it's probally a step in the right direction. Although, I imagine it's tough to compete with the Taliban or al-Qaida militant's "up front" cash given to farmers to grow opium. [color:red][edit to add] And staying with the topic of the thread (sorta) I'm thankful my little bro has made it home (Scotland, UK) from both Afghanistan & Iraq. He's not in the Canadian military anymore, but serves in the QRAF, UK for the last 10-11 years.

    BEER!!

This morning was my first beer since sunday remarkably enough. One was all I required to get the much needed boost to do laundry, sit around and listen to bluegrass.
  9. Yeah, been sorta soured by an incident in the past (ACC the year Foo-fighters opened) and haven't gone to a single "big show" (arena etc) since, aside from the Crowes in Sarnia this past summer. Nothing completely specific to Bob, although I wasn't too impressed last time I saw him to be honest, just not into the big show costs and crowds all too much anymore. Don't get me wrong, his Bobness will always be tops on my list. [color:red][edit to add] D.B.T is the same night as the London show, I already got Truckers tix, so I guess Oshawa wouldbe my next logical choice, see what happens I guess.
  10. Nice to see Dylan visiting some cities he hasn't played in quite awhile (Sault Ste. Marie for example), gotta love when he does that. Enjoy Bob, Bob. Looks like London may be my best chance if I decide to go see him this time.

    BEER!!

Waking up, alnighters aren't really part of my repertoire anymore. Very, very rare now-a-days anyway. Its friday, I have no work to go to, figured a beer for breakfast was in order.

  14. They don't and that was never implied. But, as per usual when asking about windows programs, issues etc the usual "get a mac" replies follow, hence my comment. Sorry but I thought that was rather clear. My mistake. Thanks for the input though.
  15. I know its been out for quite awhile now, but it appears the update is now only showing itself to my pc. I've pretty much read a truck load of reports (most from around it's time of release) of how it is screwing up computers, from everything like random reboots to flat out system shut downs only rectifiable by system restores and/or clean installs. And to get this reply outta the way - I'm not very interested in anything Mac, mainly since the price of a decent Mac pretty much surpasses any need or use I would have for it now-a-days, and honestly, I love my AMD dual core and have never had an issue, little or major, so I'm not looking for a change. Just looking for some input from folks who have installed SP3 (are there any?) and what, and/or any, issues you have expirenced since. Has M$ actually made any fixes and if so, will I be downloading a mess of hotfixes for the next few days? Or, should I go with my initial plan of just not downloading it.

    Poutine

While in Chibougamau awhile back we had some poutnine galvaude. I am a fan of the average poutine, but it's a stretch for me to say its better then potuine galvaude, to date this was the only poutine I've eaten where the curds actually squeaked while eating. Wish I knew the name of the place, I'll post if/when I rememeber.
