  2. The Haldern 09 show is now up on YT: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=734D9BADFF1D4D24 Not just an amazing performance but also check out the filming and editing job by the crew on tracks like Beijing: especially during the drum and strings freakout mid way through
  3. So, I'm getting ravaged on the extra fees for going over 60 gigs. And enough is enough, I need to switch ISPs to one that has no cap, but is equally fast and reliable etc. Does anyone have any good suggestions for ISPs available in Ottawa?
  4. Perhaps some of you know Deep Dark United. Band leader Alex Lukashevsky is playing with a new trio consisting of Daniela Gesundheit (Snowblink and sings with Bruce Peninsula) and Felicity Williams. at Raw Sugar Cafe on Thursday March 4. Additionaly we have Dan Misha Goldman aka Luxury Pond doing a solo set and THOMAS who was recently touring the continent with Owen Pallett and has played with numerous other Canadian artists. Here you can catch him doing his thang.
  5. new video for first single, Mama Papa: http://pitchfork.com/tv/#/musicvideo/4084-plants-animals-the-mama-papa-secret-city also I randomly found this alternate (and better) video for Bye Bye Bye: http://vimeo.com/9736929

  11. Really liking Florence and the Machines ' album Lungs. And Artic Monkey's latest Humbug, talk about maturing musically.
  12. fuck me, this is immensely better than the studio version. and even that was rockin'
  13. You see I did, in fact, only want it to loop and just play over. But I don’t want to rule out the possibility of expanding my loopie love in the future to do more. So…now im thinking when is the street date for this Looperlative?
  14. How much is the price I would be looking to get that for around Ottawa? I've seen mid 200s but I;ve heard people getting them for mid 100s? Are they bsing / losing their memory?
  15. For me all this happend in the first portion of the year and hasn't changed. And one of these has become my all-time favorites; Patrick Watson. In order of discovery - saw Leif Vollebekk open for Basia. Easily became a fav of mine. - (doesn't count but I knew and heard some Bruce Peninsula stuff but couldn't see them live or get the album until February '09. So I guess the only discovery was how awesome they are, haha). - The Balconies. a friend linked me to their myspace was amazed right away. One of my favorites now. - In April I got into Patrick Watson by listening to Fireweed. Saw him live in June and still its my favorite show of the whole year. Saw Plants and Animals...fell in love. Saw Torngat..jaw dropped. Saw Immaculte Machine loved it and bought Fables that album rocks hard. Now getting into one before that 'Ones and Zeros' may even be better. After April there wasn't much. Album-wise I really got into Great Lakes Swimmers, who I haden't heard before. But their live show, though enjoyabl didn't leave a lasting impression and nor did Lost Channells. Over the summer I found out about Rural Alberta Advantage, that was notable discovery. As was Hey Rosetta!
  16. Thanks. Looking forward to the new album. Tom Cruz is pretty decent but some of the new tunes I;ve heard premiered live are superior, imo.
  17. This is the kinda show that I think alot of jambanders.ca'ers would have loved. The band is made up of Matt Charbonneau of Torngat and the Luyas and Simon Trottier who has been playing with Timber Timbre. Just wanted to post some clips that I think youll enjoy.
  18. Hello there, my iRiver died and I am looking to record a show next week in Montreal and desperately looking for a portable recorder than cap capture lossless form (44.1 16)WAV. I have mics and battery box, so I'm good in that respect. Thanks in advance if you can help.
  19. ...oh and The Balconies' self-titled debut. damn its good.
  20. Bruce Peninsula's A Mountain Is A Mouth Patrick Watson's Wooden Arms and Mastodon's Crack The Skye
  21. Indeed the shout-out was nice and I was mid-sentence talking to my friend in between songs and he stops me and says "he's talking about you" haha. You know brad its funny, I actually thought...well I guess technically speaking, this was a weaker show of the ones i've seen. There were quite a few mess ups and sloppyness around the edges mostly because of the 15 hour drive and 4 hours sleep they were on. Add to the fact that two choir members were missing, I didn't enjoy it as much as most BP shows. That being said it seems they tried to counter that by upping the "fun" level and just hitting and playing harder as a last stomp to the end of the tour, which was cool to see.
  22. In, of course. :content: I may get around to putting some a vid or two up from Neat Coffee Shop show too perhaps in a bit. If not, then by this weekend at least.
