  1. A big YES. Been looking forward to this show all year. Soo excited. CBC R3 is recording and broadcasting. Cant wait.
  2. That would be sooo key. Man, AD, I find myself always liking what you say/suggest/post.
  3. Look at BBT from the get go, staring at the roof and right away on the first question "uhh uhh I'm not sure what you mean" But yeah its Jian's fault right? And then his language he is using "Shit, I don't know..." on 10AM morning radio show. This is all before the actor thing came up.
  4. Yah Mingy takes great pics. I always drive him home because he lives near me. (But he goes to shows wayy to early.)
  5. "Weak encore?" Man, that jam was like one of the best parts of the night! Along with the autoharp on Fairie haha. I'm not sure if I saw you, but for Angela I was in front of the left speaker chillin. [i recorded audio of her set, PM me and I'll hook you up. Didn't get PnA because battery died, but fuck it I was having such a blast going nuts during their set anyways.] And for Plants and Animals I was all over the place, because I had alot of different friends there and was allocating time to hang out with each group, haha. I loved it. Amazing night, and was awesome to see them at a tiny venue. I talked to them after, the will be playin babylon soon. Will, the merch guy, is hella cool too. He's gona be at the Sadies show in May.
  6. They didn't check for student IDs last time. I mean its run by students and they are pretty chill on the rules and such. (last time we went alot of the capacity of 100) so im sure you'll be fine. My shoes are extremely white and I have a black sweater with crazy puffy hair, and a skateboard lying around. If you spot me say hello? [if Im allowed to film] and you see someone filming, thats also me...come say hi after? leaving now, cya
  7. You should be on your way to uOttawa for Plants and Animals show, 5 bucks only. Doors at 8. Cafe Alternatif bottom of Simard building. Hell...yeah.
  8. 'We are a very mainstream band…. But that's OK, because our fans like that kind of music, and that's who we're making music for.' —Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger Elle oh fucking elle.
  9. ?? i read that article as good news' date=' keeping in mind what the possibilities were... did you want CBC to shut R3 down? [/quote'] Yeah your right, I guess its good news. Im just soo soo sad the the R3 is cutting the live sessions and recording, which imo, is THE best part about them. Also R3 is like my favoritisteque thing about CBC.
  10. How much is it for early bird student passes? Can I get a special artist PM list?

    FOTC over?

I thought a while back I read that they were signed to two MORE seasons (after s1). I may be wrong. I thought S2 was sooo hilarious, much much much better than S1 and stood up well against alot of other comedies.
  12. Heh, my Prof is one of the head guys at the NCC. He told us about this. Very neat.
  13. Fully agreed. Was at that show and it was stellar. Well said about the non-jam band and non-groundbreaking, I felt the same way.
  14. United Steelworkers of Montreal (wait was that already mentioned?)
  15. Its too tough to compare Buckley to Freddie, Plant etc. They are all so amazing. But I think Buckley was the last truly exceptional male vocalist that can be categorized with those greats. Cornell, Yorke, Cedric Bixler-Zavala can all come close. But I don't think they arrived at that high plateau.
  16. What I like about Buckley? hmmm tought to say specific things. I'm just a huge "live" Buckley fan and it'd take a while to go discuss through 18+gigs of Buckley haha. This discussion has a rooted problem in the use of "pop" as we have some problems defining what it is. I'm just going to play ignorance and show some things I like of Buckley, whether pop or not. The emotion he sings with on Forget Her: His versatility, like this: I mean I could go on forever, the footage of him singing Grace, him doing Nusrat stuff, Way Young Lover's do, his Edith Piaf inspired singing, basically his ability to imitate and adapt a wide variety of singers, be they well-known or not. His balls-out rocking on live versions of Eternal Life. His wails on Dream Brother live:
  17. I've said it before and I'll say it many times (carefully worded). Jeff Buckley was the greatest male vocalist to come in [his point of time frame] the last 20 years [1970s-1990s], and has [now] still yet to be surpassed.
  18. If your considering Holy Fuck, then also consider Battles...but yeah +1 Holy Fuck and +1 to AD's list, his is essentially flawless. Most of what I could think of has been mentioned but add: Devendra Banhart Bruce Peninsula D'Urbervilles Basia Bulat (if she can get full band that'd be bonus) Justin Nozuka (but he attracts too many screaming girls) Tom Fun Orchestra The Balconies
  19. Holy! Jeff Beck!? Awesome
  20. They are playing on CBC's Q tomorrow morning!
