  1. which is Patrick Watson. Not sure if that means he's billed to come. If so...I'll flip my username. Isn't it a new Jane's Addiction album? True say. And the fact that they had it in title form (using capital "A" for Artist) indicates that it is more likely the answer. PW isn't playing too many Ontario shows, or shows at all for that matter until Fall/late Winter (new album 2012, psyched!)
  2. They posted this on FB http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10150207562491371&id=9971056370 which is Patrick Watson. Not sure if that means he's billed to come. If so...I'll flip my username.
  3. I assumed it was just for this tune, that they had him sit in. Or perhaps even just for this session.
  4. Oh yeah they did. I just realized that opening slot they got to do on the Canadian leg is what brought them a lot of the attention.
  5. Well to be honest, they had one of the longest lineups on Thursday at NXNE in Toronto. And yeah, alot of people were talking about them.
  6. ...I don't want one of those super beginner bang around ones 20 dollars one. I'm looking for a decent one maybe in the 50-75 dollar range. Any suggestions?
  7. Bruce Peninsula are playing as part of SummerWorks Festival on August 11. Jennifer Castle is opening. Taking place at the Lower Ossington Theatre (ahh to see BP in a theatre).
  8. I'd like a some James Blake too..
  9. Allo -- if anyone is heading down to Toronto on either Wed June 15 eve or Thursday June 16 morn/afternoon and is looking for some company, I'd be ever so grateful to hitch a ride. I'm looking to attend some NXNE and hanging out in the T . Thanks
  10. Amazing lineup! Too bad I can't make it that weekend.
  11. Hello good people, I'm going to be heading to Montreal from Ottawa for this show on Saturday. Was just thinking of offering a ride in case anyone wanted to also head down (either show or Montreal in general) as that could alleviate the costs for me as well. Coming straight back after the show. http://www.ticketbreak.com/event_details/4506?skin=popmontreal
  12. Here's an interesting "cover-based" one... http://www.southernsouls.ca/btfiresongs.html http://brucetrails.blogspot.com/2011/05/southern-souls-cover-songs.html
  13. Sorry (I'm not even in the same city to go to the show) I was just trying to decypher what K Drew tweeted: http://twitter.com/KevinSelection And I just realized now what he means is that Death Cab is sold out tonight at the Phoenix. Muh bad.
  14. Kevin Drew is pumping them up big time and now its sold out. I wonder if we'll see a future A & C re-release of their album followed by the mass acclaim.
  15. They are in in a few hours. /lastsecondreminder
  16. Hmmm interesting pointers, thanks. Thanks for the input guys. But the AKGs are out of my prince range. I'm more in the max $250 range. I'll investiage further re: the 57s, so far this seems like the more sensible choice for beginners.
  17. ...and based on a little research and some friend's recommendations I have it narrowed down to Rode NT3. Just wanted to run it by here, as I know we have some experienced home recording folks in the house. I'd want to record acoustic guitar, violin, cello, flute, piano...and if it would work with electric guitar amp too, that'd be a bonus. Thanks
  18. ...and just a few minutes ago they posted a cover of Pentangle's "Light Flight"
  19. Braids and M. Ward are the two I am most excited for. Others are Black Keys and DFA> Will check out of curiosity: Ed Sharpe My Morning Jacket Erykah (get her with The Roots and that would be primo!) Initial lineup is weak compared to previous years. (I should make it clear that I'm okay with the love being spread around Jazz and Folk fests too though).
  20. Hey so their Daytrotter session is now finally up (a year later) contains their cover of Fleetwood Mac's Chain, Itty Bitty Baby > Moon At Your Back, and a subtle version of Shanty. http://www.daytrotter.com/dt/bruce-peninsula-concert/20032213-37382261.html http://brucetrails.blogspot.com/2011/04/fire-sale-installment-2.html
  21. Where can I buy a melodica here in Ottawa? Just a relatively small one, with two or three octaves. Also, what are some other good "can take for break and play outside while at work" instruments? Def ukulele fits in that category.
