I crossed the border into Mexico once on foot through someplace in San Diego. It was similar to walking into a Future Shop. On the way back it was less similar. There was a HEAVY stream of foot traffic and the border guards simply yelled out "Does anyone have guns or knives?" I am positive things have changed since 1994.

I've been on teams that lost tournaments in shootouts while also winning a ton. I remember being in one playoff match that went so late it was night and the venue didnt have lights so they cut the game off prior to the shootout. We ended up playing the contest again. We destroyed them that game and went on to win the city championship. I loved it. Kev, goals are so hard to come by. Especially with tired players. Nothing is going to happen and no one is going to score. I figure the only way soccer could do it, getting rid of the penalty shootout, is opening the game up and allowing unlimited substitutions. And by that I mean sitting a player for 20-30 minutes to allow him to get fresh legs. BUT that will slow the game down even more than it already is. It's unfortuanate todays game was played on such a dampened pitch. For a while I felt like I was back watching Coventry again. John Terry acting like Page during Wading In A Velvet Sea was awesome.

I watched a surprising amount of Team Canada games, like a shitload more than I thought I would ever watch. The timing worked out perfect but you know what happened to me when they lost? I didnt really care all that much. To tell the truth, I thought it was cool that Kovalchuk was crying like a fucking sissy. At least a part of me learned something. It's still just the World Championship as far as I am concerned, which has never meant more to me than a breeding ground for helping Canadian kids become better for more important stages. They are playing their hearts out and that is all that really matters. But win or lose? Bah. A part of me was cheering more for Finland in hopes Saku and Teemu finally come to an understanding that they need to play together in Montreal. Great chemistry between those two. Fuck, I'm drunk as nails.

I didnt get to see the Penguins rout of the Flyers yesterday but the march ends here.

Hartamophone, there is a reason it was over the top. Phil said good-bye to the Warfield these past few shows. His perspective was completely in check.
