  1. I know the sentiment is that Obama didn't do enough... was it his fault or was it the situation he inherited? Was more progress possible if he didn't lose the house 1/2 through his term? Maybe health care ended up taking up too much of his time? Any thoughts to why they are so disappointed in Obama? There definitely is a sentiment that Obama is the lesser of two evils, I'd say he's actually done a lot in terms of reshaping how the world sees the USA. Not since Ronald Regan has their been a president that's not only a politician but a celebrity.

  3. I'm hooked on this stuff! Might even volunteer for Obama for this one - as I know it's going to be a intense race. Word is that GOP has close to $300 million dollars more to spend on this campaign and Obama has been spending like mad already to frame the election that Mitt is for the Rich. Mitt is trying to frame it that Obama can't run on his record. with only 3 months to go - it's going to be a hard fought battle.
  4. sweet, i thought it was going to be 8 episodes divided into two.. i'm at episode 3 in this season. Love it!
  5. Sounds good - almost sounds like a Joel Plaskett song!
  6. Who's following this? Hard to say how things are going to play out. It really looks like Obama has the lead, but I am also seeing polls and talk that Romeny is poised to take the presidency. New York is most certainly going Democrat, but the Republicans have a ton of advantages, deeper seated base, more money and history of vote manipulation as seen in G W Bush win. Either way it's going to be a tight, intense election. I'm on the edge of my seat!
  7. The band is going to release a new song every week leading up to this tour... looking forward to hearing it all. Boys were sounding great at Evolve Fest, I hope some skanks come out for the rare tour run.

  9. --- Seemingly out of nowhere, Grand Theft Bus return with their fourth, and arguably strongest, album Say It With Me. A collection of songs mostly new and some old, the material is a further evolution of the band's genre of progressive-pop. You can hear the first single, Vultures, streaming on CBCRadio3 and here: As always, the songs possess a great mix of styles and captures a restless band following their muse wherever it leads them – whether basic guitar-driven pop, dark synthesizer-driven anthems or instrumental pieces with electronic flourishes. We'll be releasing a song every Tuesday until the album comes out on August 28th. You can also pre-order the CD and hope santa puts this on wax. UPCOMING PERFORMANCES Grand Theft Bus August 11: MESStival - Anagance, NB August 29: Casa Del Popolo - Montreal, PQ August 30: Casbah - Hamilton ON August 31: The Rivoli - Toronto ON September 01: Mavericks - Ottawa ON September 13: Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival - Fredericton NB

  15. I don't agree with everything this guys says, but he does make a good point on how record compaines invest in the acts via tour support. The Industry is changing and the power shift seems to be moving towards the promoters. Live Nation can build headliners by putting them in front of the right crowds. In my experience bands are going on the road to promote their new CD, but also to take advantage of the promotional opportunities that promoters can give them - postering, email blasts, pr, web promo... I think that companies like AEG, Live Nation, the thousands of festival around the world need bands as big as Radiohead... So as record labels get smaller, the promoters who often have build strong one on one relationships with the audiences will pick up the slack.
  16. Wild night, very good two night run, the song selection the first night was more to my taste, but we had great seats (11th row, dead centre in front of Trey) + VIP Drinking Area passes. Was way more intimate with the good seats, and Page was much louder than first night. Jams were great and I could see Trey smiling ear to ear. from: http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/phish-jones-beach-setlist-and-the-skinny-night-two/ 07/04/2012 Nikon at Jones Beach Theater Set 1: Alumni Blues > Letter to Jimmy Page > Alumni Blues, Head Held High, The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday > Avenu Malkenu > The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, Kill Devil Falls, Bittersweet Motel, The Moma Dance > Gumbo > David Bowie, Alaska, Susskind Hotel, Hold Your Head Up > Purple Rain[1] > Hold Your Head Up, The Star Spangled Banner Set 2: Boogie On Reggae Woman > Tweezer > Twist > Taste > Quinn the Eskimo > Julius > Rock and Roll > The Horse > Silent in the Morning > Harry Hood > Shine a Light > Show of Life > Slave to the Traffic Light Encore: Sleeping Monkey[2] > Tweezer Reprise

Recorded by Snappy Homefry (Chameleon Project, BOK, Dub Monkey) at Playhouse studios in Toronto, the song captures that vintage reggae sound with a touch of modern production. Fans of Jimmy Cliff, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh will enjoy! This song was played on CBC Radio in Southern Ontario yesterday at 5pm. We'd love to hear your comments. Named after a Queen West after-hours club run by band members in the late 80's and 90's, the reggae collective is near completion of their debut album, 20 years in the making. With 350 hours of studio time clocked at Snappy Homefry's Playhouse, over 20 musicians from Toronto reggae scene's participation and with funding support of the Ontairo Arts Council and FACTOR, the band is looking to its fans for financial support for the last step of the release of the album, slated for September which they will be pushing for a 2013 Juno Nomination. House of David Gang www.houseofdavidgang.com www.facebook.com/houseofdavidgang House of David Gang is a Toronto-based reggae outfit that delivers late 70s and early 80s style Jamaican reggae originals mixed with folk, soul, calypso, afrobeat, hip hop as well as classic reggae material of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. Formed in Toronto over 20 years ago, the band is fronted by seasoned reggae veteran King Selah – a fixture of the Canadian Jamaican Reggae scene. The House of David Gang takes its name from the legendary House of David afterhours on Queen Street West in Toronto, where artists from the city's burgeoning reggae scene would meet to jam until sunrise. In the last several years, "The Gang" has been one of Canada's busiest touring reggae bands. Their annual Bob Marley Birthday Tribute and Food Drive tour has become a staple of the winter music calendar across Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. In Toronto, hundreds of reggae lovers come out for their springtime Original Wailers Showcase and Peter Tosh Tribute. House of David Gang has performed in front of thousands at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, Atlantic Jazz Festival, Evolve Festival, Nufunk Festival, The Word On The Street, Ottawa Reggaefest, Toronto Freedom Festival, and more.
