  1. I didn't get there in time to see them... I know they are a really talented group. I met them in NYC when they were doing a Relix TV Boiler Rooom. I loved their songs and vocal harmonies. I ran into one of the guys in Good Old War at the show and he said the tour was going great.

  4. 5th Annual NuJazz Festival Gala Event www.nujazz.ca SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17th, 2012 Billy Martin & Wil Blades Duo www.facebook.com/billymartinandwilbladesduo The Shuffle Demons www.shuffledemons.com Ticketweb Link: http://tktwb.tw/OryUOO plus DJ Jive Express (Sweetback, Chameleon Project) Tickets: Soundscapes, Rotate This & Play De Record, THE GREAT HALL 1087 Queen Street West www.thegreathall.ca Tickets: $25 - Soundscapes, Rotate This & Play De Record Ticketweb Link: http://tktwb.tw/OryUOO Facebook: http://on.fb.me/Rz5XxD Billy Martin of Medeski Martin and Wood (Drums and percussion) and Wil Blades of Stanton Moore Trio (Hammond B-3 Organ) came together in 2011 to form this incredible danceable and highly improvisational duo. The 5th Annual NuJazz Festival is back, presenting a cutting edge concert series in Toronto this November. The Shuffle Demons are a Canadian jazz fusion band, who had a surprise Top 40 hit in Canada with their 1986 single "Spadina Bus". In 2004, the band coordinated a world record for the largest number of people playing saxophone simultaneously, with over 900 saxophones all playing the theme from Hockey Night in Canada. For over 25 years, jazz-funk-fusion band The Shuffle Demons have been entertaining fans around the world and have recently released a new album on True North Records entitled "Cluster Funk" "Billy Martin & Wil Blades' debut album Shimmy is full of breakbeat funk, stellar jazz improvisation, and instinctive syncopation...everything a drum and B-3 duo record should be." ~All Music â–ºWatch and embed new live video for "Toe Thumb" here: Organ and drums duo, Billy Martin & Wil Blades, perform 11 shows this November, including an appearance at The Great Hall in Toronto on Saturday, November 17 presented by the 5th annual NuJazz Festival. The pair are touring in support of their acclaimed debut album, Shimmy, released earlier this year on Brooklyn record label, The Royal Potato Family. More on Billy Martin & Wil Blades: www.facebook.com/billymartinandwilbladesduo Billy Martin, the drummer for the legendary experimental jazz trio Medeski, Martin & Wood, and Wil Blades, a much buzzed about young organist from the San Francisco live music scene, first came together for a low-key, one-off late night set during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 2011. The music that evening was so deep in the pocket that the pair knew instantly there would be more shows together in their future. A West Coast tour was arranged for later in the year, which played to packed houses from Washington to California. In the middle of the run, Martin & Blades ducked into a Berkeley recording studio to capture what would become their debut album, Shimmy. Their approach was purely old school in the tradition of those essential organ-groove sides by the likes of Charles Earland, Brother Jack McDuff and Groove Holmes.Throughout the outing, the electricity between the drummer and organist runs high voltage on tracks like "Brother Bru," "Toe Thumb" and "Les & Eddie." The chemistry between them is kinetic, assuring that even while the duo is reaching back to embrace the retro, they can't help but push the tradition ever forward. More on The Shuffle Demons http://www.shuffledemons.com The Shuffle Demons first broke onto the Canadian music scene in 1984 with an electrifying musical fusion that drew in equal measure from Sun Ra, Charles Mingus, Run DMC and the Beastie Boys. The band was one of the first indie acts to break out on MuchMusic. This band was genre bending, highly visually entertaining, funny, and best of all, could really PLAY. All their eye catching, crowd pleasing stunts were backed up by incredibly solid musicianship and real ground-breaking playing. Over a twenty eight year span The Shuffle Demons have released eight CDs, two hit videos, won several music awards, done numerous tv and radio appearances and toured nationally and internationally including 25 cross Canada tours, 5 US tours, 16 European tours, as well as tours of Mexico, India, China, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Cuba playing on big festival stages, theatres and clubs. more info: www.nujazz.ca jay@360degreesartists.com

The first single "Best I Can Be" - showcases the bands' penchant for songs with positive and uplifting message. The Baudelaires www.thebaudelaires.com Inspired by the sounds of late sixties reggae producer Leslie Kong (Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker, The Wailers), the Baudelaires like some soul with their reggae and they're not afraid of a little “church†too. That is, if church refers to the feverish gospel-cum-ska sound that Toots Hibbert drew on for hits like “Sweet and Dandy†and “Pressure Drop†or Desmond Dekker liberally borrowed for “Israelites†and Jimmy Cliff majestically carved into “The Harder They Come.†Formed with members from three bands in the Guelph-Waterloo area (the Jolly Llamas, What the Thunder Said, Brother Freedom), the Baudelaires revisit Jamaican classics such as “Reggae Got Soul,†“Soul Shakedown Party,†“Draw Your Brakes†and “Mix Up Girl†sometimes lovingly recreating a vintage sound, at other times giving the material an entirely new reading. They are artful dubbers. They are a rhythm machine. They are also intent on crafting modern classics: their original songs focus on the love of reggae culture (“Rae Town,†“Montrealâ€), the love of a good tryst (“Let Me Be Your Gun,†“Let Me Sleep in Your Bedâ€) and the love of a good clash (“Recession,†“Shame Shameâ€). Dub Connection w/ Selector K Zar and Crew Dub Connection is run by Selector K Zar and his crew of emcees and singers. It’s all analogue and it’s all vinyl. The music is raw, underground, and bass heavy. Selector K Zar has been a fan of reggae since his youth. He began playing dances in the early 2000s. He plays everything from big classics to lesser known gems he has discovered collecting vinyl., with a heavy emphasis on roots and dubwise. Currently in the process of building a custom soundsystem, along with engineer Illyes, Dub Connection parties are an experience best had live and direct!
