Formed in Toronto over 15 years ago, the band is fronted by seasoned reggae veteran King Selah – a fixture of the Canadian Jamaican Reggae scene. 3. A PIPIN’ HOT SHOWCASE HEATS UP NXNE PIPE & HAT RECORDS NXNE Friday, June 15 The Annex Live (296 Brunswick Ave. at Bloor St.) Ingrid Gatin with Mise en Scene, The Noble Thiefs, The Nonsuch, Benjalu (AUS), Kim Churchill (AUS) and The Roseville Band (UK) www.pipeandhat.com Friday, June 15 Cameron House - 408 Queen Street West 11pm Pipe & Hat Records is proud to announce the official showcase line up for NXNE TORONTO – Fueled by passion, talent and good old Canadian spirit, Pipe &Hat is burning their way across the country from Manitoba to light up NXNE with an incredible showcase of talent from around the world. On June 15, Pipe & Hat have assembled their showcase of bands to heat up NXNE at The Annex Live (296 Brunswick Ave. at Bloor St.). The list of artists include rising Canadian bands like Ingrid Gatin, Mise en Scene, The Noble Thiefs and The Nonsuch. The showcase includes guest performers Benjalu (AUS), Kim Churchill (AUS), The Roseville Band(UK) and, in keeping with festival tradition, a secret act to be announced the day of the show. Each performer brings their own unique style and presence to the stage. Ingrid Gratin, Winnipeg's indie-roots darling takes a mélange of soul, French café and gypsy music for an unforgettable experience with her signature accordion. Hailing from the coastal town of Newcastle in Australia, the lead singer of Aussie band Benjalu is described as a vocal blend of Vedder, Chapman and Morrison, mixed with alternate roots, rock, and folk. Kim Churchill, the one-man-band guitarist from Australia, puts on a show like no other by backing himself with harmonica, kick and snare, guitar, body percussion and his own fantastic soulful voice. The Winnipeg duo Mise en Scene's passionate girl-group pop is far from a rehash, bringing traces of Jenny Lewis or ‘My Guy-era’ Supremes. The Noble Thiefs are a snappily dressed, mod-ish vintage soul band and garage-rock in a Two Tone, Dirtbombs or Dexy-style who grab attention everywhere they go. The Nonsuch bring a cosmic Rush or Styx-rock celebrating everything that's great and weird about life on the third rock from the sun. Expect intricate stage outfits and guitar solos. And finally, hailing from Wales, The Roseville Band bring their jangly and heartfelt guitar-led rock and roll rhapsodies in the style of Wilco or electric Dylan. Tim Jones and Kenny Hunynh will be available for interviews leading up to the showcase at NXNE. About Pipe & Hat Pipe & Hat is a Winnipeg-based independent label, formed in 2008 and specializing in developing new and established local, national and international talent. Current clients include Mise en Scene, Ingrid Gatin, The Nonsuch and The Noble Thiefs.

  8. Crazy killer episode... Tyrion is just the man, love all the scenes he's in. The fact that it was the Kings Knights that attacked Tyrion really was shocking... with out his courage they would have lost their entire army. I didn't really understand what set the Hound off, was it the fire? How many episodes left? I hope at least 2 more!

  15. East Meets West! Join us at Lee’s Palace on May 26 as we welcome Vancouver’s Five Alarm Funk. Rockin’ funk grooves and delirious dance moves are the name of the game for this mighty 10-piece band - their horn and percussion fuelled shows have obliterated clubs and festivals across Canada and the United States for nearly a decade. Promoting their latest album, Rock The Sky, this is a chance to catch a true funk spectacle in action. With a deep vintage blend that’s always fresh, Toronto’s The Soul Motivators channel slick dynamite soul, brooding exotic funk and the hip-hop flair of classic breaks. Over the last 12 months, the band has established residencies in the Annex and Cabbagetown - now this Lee’s appearance kicks off a string of festival dates that is sure to make this the Summer of Soul. Kicking of this funkalicious night is London, Ontario’s very own After Funk. Blending classic and modern soul vibes, these guys are sure to the party started. Bringing the FUNK heat to the Annex for an unforgettable Saturday night!
