FHR are releasing a new song "Right Now", and HODG are releasing their first single from their upcoming CD called "Reggae Party." The partnership of these two lead reggae bands were solidified at a sold out concert at Lee's Palace in February honoring the life of the immortal reggae superstar Bob Marley. Joining the release party are Gisto & M3 of BC based band "The Wassabi Collective who have developed a cult-like following for their mix of rock, hiphop, reggae and electro. FRIENDLYNESS & THE HUMAN RIGHTS FHR released their debut CD "One Thing" in June 2010. Friendlyness, a Juno nominated vocalist and devoted Rastafarian has had a long history in the Canadian reggae scene working with such groups as Culture Shock, Raggadeath, SuperHeavy Reggae, and Truths & Rights. Friendlyness has also recently joined the reunited high-profile Canadian rock band Big Sugar, who recently performed for several thousand people at the Sound Academy in March for Canadian Music Week. Over the last three years Friendlyness and the Human Rights have been honoured to warm up the stage for reggae legends Gregory Isaacs, Beres Hammond, John Holt, The English Beat and Clive Chin. They have also been featured on regae & ska festivals in Western and Central Canada including The Calgary Reggae Fest and IRIE fest in Toronto. HOUSE OF DAVID GANG HODG takes its name from a legendary rooftop apartment on Queen Street West in downtown Toronto. "The House of David" was the after hours spot of choice for the city's burgeoning reggae scene in the late 1980s. It was a place where members of Selassie I Power, The Resinators, Revelation, Imagine Rainbow Warriors and special guest touring musicians would join together and jam late into the night. Rooted in the timeless tradition of Jamaican roots reggae from the 70s and early 80s, House of David Gang adds a potent mix of jazz, funk and afrobeat to create a true global reggae orchestra. Now with a revamped line-up House of David Gang has toured Central & Atlantic Canada, having performed at Evolve Festival, Salty Jam, Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, Ottawa Reggae Fest and to over 10,000 people at the Toronto Freedom Festival in 2010. GISTO & M3 of the WASSABI COLLECTIVE M3 (Melissa Meretsky) Percussionist/Singer and Gisto (Brent Hongisto) Guitarist/Singer/Producer are the lead vocalists of BC based Wassabi Collective who have thoroughly honed their craft over a thousand shows and 7 years on the road across North America. The duo will be showcasing their evolution with an all new Electro Reggae Dance sound featuring all the percussion, guitar and vocals backed by live sequencing through Ableton Live. The response has been overwhelming, now the high energy duo is set to embark on their first Central & East coast Canadian Tour. Ohm Grown Records www.ohmgrownrecords.com Ohm Grown Records was founded in 1990 by Ras Allover with the mandate to publish today's most conscious reggae music.

You do make some valid points there Jeff/Ersh, the bands need to create an atmosphere to build more fans and charge a fair price/operate a fair door. My policy at my shows is that we're building a community and we have to strike deals with the patrons to get them into the shows so they become our champions. We have to let people in for free or nearly free in the last hour or 45 mins of the night. That video you posted was hilarious!! I hope you make a million on that - it's almost as good as Rebbecca Black. Maybe you should put a bit more auto tune on it. I found this video right after it... Damn, I really need to come out and see Pete Elkas. When i was in University I really loved his song Karate Man. -

$5 is exaggerating for the Toronto market, but I recently had a discussion with my friend Todd, keyboard player former of Sling n the Stone and now in House of David Gang and Jason Wilson - we're talking about pricing a show in Guelph on a Friday. this is what he had to say: 5 bucks tops - as we did the last time...... we can bring some folks in for sure but we won't make alot Guelph is going through a bit of an identity crisis in terms how they are dealing with this stuff..... the bar owners AND the people are digging in their heels and NOBODY wants to pay!! I say it's a free show is a great way to get our names out and start to build something that the owners will pay for but until you give them two packed houses ........ then we need to do it for the other benefits. BIG PROMO AT THE UNIVERSITY and a $5 might work but it's a risk. -- It's a scary place at the bottom of the entertainment food chain! -
