  1. Did anyone else find Claypool a little dull? The show was an artistic success and you can't question the musicianship but I wasn't exactly pining for more when all was said and done.
  2. Do you tape the beer cans to your legs?!
  3. I was curious what the setlist for a Les Claypool show might look like and found this recent one. So yeah, looks like he is dipping into the Primus catalogue just a little bit.
  4. Were you in the photo pit for KISS?!!
  5. Another random thought from last night. Never in my wildest imagination did I think I'd ever bear witness to a live version of Lick It Up > Won't Get Fooled Again > Lick It Up. Whoa. It was also kind of random when Paul Stanley started playing Stairway To Heaven. That got a bigger reaction than many of the KISS songs.
  6. My friend made beer wraps last night -- can of beer wrapped in a tortilla.
  7. I thought KISS were pretty epic last night. I was impressed with the set list and surprised that they played the full 2:15 and still left out a few gems (e.g. Dr. Love, God of Thunder, I Want You). Highlights for me were: Let Me Go Rock'n'Roll, Parasite and Cold Gin. I could see not being impressed with the show if you're not familiar with the material or just not into the whole KISS schtick but I loved it. Great crowd too with many people dressed up as KISS members, from simple face paint to full on costumes. It was pretty awesome. Here are some photos I found on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=ottawa+bluesfest+kiss
  8. Yeah, probably my least enjoyable Bluesfest night that I can recall. Some goof running from security knocked half my beer all over me. Then I kicked over some guy's beer at the Blacksheep Stage (I bought him a new one). Plus it was super crowded. I should have stayed home. KISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. KISS start at 8:45. How are they even going to play a 2:15 set to get them to 11? Gene Simmons is just kayfabe-ing it up for the media.
  10. I remember that happening at one of the smaller stages there but I don't *think* it's happened with the big stage. I'm getting there as early as I can regardless.
  11. I was able to pull a single for KISS on the Capital Tickets web site so looks like it's not sold out yet.
  12. That's what I heard. Man, as crowded as it was last night it's going to be insane tonight!!
  13. Ice Cube was a big disappointment. Only one verse of Straight Out Of Compton? I realize it's an ensemble piece but there's no way he could have rearranged it? Man, what a letdown! Xavier Rudd's appeal continues to elude me.
  14. That was a fun show. I miss these guys!! (The event was four years ago.)
  15. I've seen STP better but all things considered it was a solid performance. You could see flashes of Weiland's once brilliant stage presence but he's clearly not the same. The band rocked the fuck out though.
  16. Rob, thanks! But I managed to find one already.
  17. You've never heard of Stone Temple Pilots?
  18. Freaks and Geeks is awesome. I just discovered it last summer, also via the boxset. I can't recommend this show enough. We even put off watching the final episode for a few months, relishing the anticipation of one final "new" episode.
  19. Nope. bouche's comments aside, I was actually hoping for more insightful feedback.
  20. bouche, you never told me you were Girl Talk! Ha, ha. Fun show. The mixing wasn't as intricate as on the studio albums obviously but there was a lot of toilet paper.
  21. Wow! That's amazing! It's like I was there. Seriously very cool.
