  1. OK, I'm re-posting this one:
  2. I'm waiting for the inevitable prank call from a Howard Stern fan.
  3. Jesus fucking christ! I just posted in the Farrah thread how this was a tough week for celebrity icons. It's catastrophic now. Really bummed by today's news. Fuck. Stunned.
  4. Tough week for celebrity icons (along with Ed Mac). RIP Farrah.
  5. I forgot to brush my teeth this morning. Gross. Thinking of hitting the Jean Coutu at lunch for a brush and paste.
  6. Someone needs to photoshop Nik Lidstrom with extended hand into that.
  7. Could that be another Lapointe location? I seem to recall one on Merivale. Agreed on the Wellington Oak F&C. I had it there recently and it was weak.
  8. Inconsistent at best. Especially across all the locations. Order at your own peril.
  9. Have you tried The Glen out on Hazeldean? A bit of a hike but last time I tried them they were close to the best and seem to be the consensus pick in the Ottawa area. Lately though I am in love with the F&C at Lapointe at Galeries De Hull. I imagine the Market location is just as good. What's great is that you have a lot of choice with the type of fish you want battered: cod, haddock, halibut, tilapia, grouper... even shrimp or scallops. And it's sooooo fresh.
  10. Liquor Control Board of Ontario. i.e. Mississauga will be just as jacked if the strike goes down.
  11. It doesn't make any sense that the SAQ would also go on strike but was curious if anyone had heard anything anyway. I'm gonna pick up a big bottle of vodka tonight nonetheless.
  12. Anyone hear anything about the SAQ joining the LCBO on strike? Someone mentioned this on another message board but I have not been able to find a source to confirm.
  13. This thread is making me thirsty. P.S. AD wins.
  14. One of the wireless receivers (a zone) uses part of your bandwidth to get the WiFi signal but then distributes it to the rest of the zones via its own network. Each zone can then act as a booster to extend the signal past your routers usual range. And my bad, here's the Dead station: http://www.radioio.com/channels/dead
  15. Enjoying the hell out of it now that I found a 24/7 Dead internet station!! I will write up a full review once I've used it at the house for a week or two.

    Phish 6-18

First show back? Try first show ever for someone like me. I would love a setlist like the one in Pittsburgh at Darien Lakes.
  17. I'm thinking grade 11 high school, started around 7 pm by downing a bottle of white wine in about 10 minutes. Proceeded down the street to my friend's house party. Chased the wine with rum cokes and beer. Within about an hour was curled up in the fetal position at the bottom of the basement stairs. Flashed in and out of consciousness with the slow realization that the party got out of hand and half the school population was privvy to my paralytic state. I somehow managed the walk of shame out of there and began the stumble up the street to my place. Passed out on the side of the road about halfway there and woke up to some curious passersby trying to ascertain my condition. "I think he got hit by a car, " offered one couple. "No he's just drunk, " confirmed an old man. Fearing one of them was going to call the police or an ambulance, I pushed myself to get back up and made it home. Crawled up the stairs and passed out in bed. Got a nice talk from my mom the next morning. A friend also dropped by to return my t-shirt which I had apparently left at the side of the road. Total time from my starting to drink to ending up in bed was an epic three hours.
  18. Good thing it's next weekend!
  19. Is this at Whalesbone?
  20. You tell 'em Hal! We need more threads like this in Rich Stadium.
  21. Did you tape the shows? I would love a copy of both nights!
  22. I was there last night too. I thought the band reached some epic moments with the soundscape they created in the small theatre. I've seen this band a couple of times before but they have really kicked their musicianship up a notch. The integration of the string quartet was excellent as well. They were so tight with the band like they'd been playing with them for years. Andre, I couldn't help think how much you would have loved this show. Just seemed like something that would be right up your alley. Same goes for any fan of Radiohead really, of which this band has a strong influence. Also throw in a little Peter Gabriel and Tom Waits. On a personal note, I do find Watson's songwriting to be a little weak at times, half-baked I guess. I also wish he'd use the full range of his voice more often. He has a tendency to rely on aimless Tom Yorke-like wailing a bit too often. What an amazing venue though. It's located in the Hull City Hall building on Laurier. Capacity is just under 300 and the sound was out of this world good. Btw flipzoso , how similar were the shows in terms of setlist and what worked? e.g. Did the "bullhorn backpack" work on the first night?
