  1. I think FBN is being cheeky today.
  2. You should have thanked him for disappearing during the Eastern Conference Final.
  3. So many factors go into show appreciation. I think it helped that we were 3rd row in the pit.
  4. We knew this was inevitable ever since the lockout ended. I don't think it totally kills the Hockey Day in Canada concept. They managed to run it during the lockout year.
  5. I saw the whole set. Chan has a great voice but nothing really grabbed me.

Here's the Bluesfest setlist according to phantasy moe. I wasn't too far off. Set I: Crab Eyes, Tailspin, Not Coming Down> Wormwood> Okayalright, Wind it up, Down Boy> George
  7. What was with the story about the Bank of Canada wanting to buy his old guitar for the Canadian Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame? Did Steve not think we'd notice he's not Canadian? Sounded like cheesey Vegas schtick.
  8. That was a little bizarre. Where did the rap come from? Overall I enjoyed the show. Some nice electric guitar playing for sure. Hopefully it was taped by someone.
  9. jambands.ca gets mentioned in this Citizen article: Lawnchair blues

I was drunk at the time I was using my memory to make that list.

ollie' date=' are you sure about this? (Booche, what did your set list have?) I didn't recognize it, but it didn't have the "All the way down to bottom" lyric; instead at least one of the lines was "Be on my side". Chuck was singing it, and Al was on keys at least part of the time; it also had a dreamier feel than "The Pit."[/quote'] I'm not sure of that list at all Brad, I was just going from drunken memory.

Assuming my hangover lifts in time, yes I'll be there too!
  14. Maybe I'm being pedantic but a "lawn chair section" won't work. It needs to be a "no lawn chairs section".
  15. Institute one simple rule: No lawnchairs allowed within 50 feet* of the stage. * Reasonable distance to be determined.
  16. I don't think banning lawnchairs would solve the real problem that people are selfish assholes. I can imagine the same space issues cropping up with blankets. You're still gonna have 2 people sitting on a blanket that takes up the space of 5 or more people. It's the notion of owning festival space that bothers me. That and the safety issues generated by people blocking pathways.
  17. The women talking right now is frustrating me with her constant "this debate is silly" comments. If it was so silly the CBC wouldn't have set aside this time to talk about it.

Woo hoo! They played all my favourite songs! Put me in front of a band I seriously dig and I lose control. That was my best, err, most fun, set of Bluesfest too. Were you taping Brad?
  19. This is what makes it so frustrating. It's a no brainer. They already "police" the main gate, making sure everyone has a bracelet and are able to perform bag checks. How hard is it to put a couple of volunteers on lawnchair duty? Even have a few in the section looking for rogue lawnchairs and then politely informing offenders of the policy and have them handout the flyer. Educate the audience and they will mostly comply.
  20. That's an incredible photo dude! P-Funk brought it hard. Made me miss Los Lobos. But damn it was worth it.
