    BURGERS!

Had a great burger today at Mille et une frites on Eddy street in Hull. They are made fresh to order and lots of toppings are available. They also do good fries. Best burger I've had in Hull.
  2. Loved Konopka trying to hold back a big grin while Gord Johnson belted out the anthem on guitar.

    Anyone else

mistake the "red by John Logan" banner for what looks like Velvet's new one-man show? (is this better dinghy?)
  4. That was a pretty amazing show last night. Holy fuck we had greats seats, 3rd row on the floor, on the aisle, tons of space and by the end of the night you could pretty much stand anywhere you wanted. Such a great party time!! We couldn't have had better company either! Show was from about 8:40 to 10:50, so just over two hours minus the long encore breaks. Wish some of the songs had been longer and not medley-ized but that's a minor quibble given the overall success of the set. Highlight was walking back with two beers as Prince started singing "When Doves Cry", the song I'd been wanting to hear most. And "Purple Rain" was just as epic as I imagined. Really glad I went and won't miss another Prince gig in the area.
  5. Anyone know the start time in Montreal last night? Seems it was a little earlier than 9 pm according to some things I saw on Twitter.
  6. Fuck that. Her parents can pick us up.
  7. This is pretty great... http://lovewestboro.wordpress.com/2011/12/02/a-letter-from-a-neighbour-mayor-watson-how-ugly-is-ottawa/
  8. I can really relate to this thread this week. I really need a lot of these right now: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug:
  9. I disagree. I think AD and NW are full of win in that thread. Oh come on! Who doesn't like to drink at shows?

    BEER!!

Anyone tried this? After initial high hopes I'm disappointed after my last visit. A couple of weekends ago I picked up growlers of the Wildcard Ale and Amber Ale. The Wildcard was great but the Amber Ale wasn't carbonated enough and had a strong yeast smell/taste, profoundly different from the taste I sampled at the brewery. I tossed about half the growler. I figured the bad beer was an anomaly and picked up 2 more growlers this weekend (Underdog Pale Ale) after giving my feedback. I opened the first one and it was under carbonated as well. It also had that yeast smell going on but wasn't as pronounced as the Amber so I drank it but it wasn't great, or even good. I think I'll wait a month or two before going back until they have their quality control with the growlers in order.
  13. Is Prince 12 years old?
  14. I completely ignored the regular season and then bizarrely got into the playoff games these past two Sundays. Chose them over NFL games even. I actually think it is a great game, just so few teams to sustain any real interest over a regular season. The real question for me is Grey Cup or Sens vs. Canes.
  15. I'm definitely very picky about the big ticket shows I got to these days. I've never seen Prince and we got good tickets so that helped justify the cost. I'm curious to see how Roger Waters does in this area with the 2nd go-round of The Wall tour. He's one of my favourite live acts but I have zero interest in seeing him again at that price.
  16. For $9.99 a month you got to stream any song in their library. Rdio looks about the same. I'm gonna check it out once my Napster subscription dies.
  17. Yeah, the end kind of distracts from the whole, eh?
  18. Uh-oh. Grooveshark Will Soon Be Destroyed Looks like I'll be checking out the Rdio free trial once my Napster subscription gets cut off.
  19. I thought this was going to be a thread about the best albums of the year.
  20. I've been a Napster customer for 2.5 years and this really sucks. It was great to have such a massive library of music at my fingertips. It was worth it just to have instant access to new releases. Anyone know of a legal way to pay for streaming music in Canada? Preferably one that's also compatible with the SONOS music system.

    Penn State

I have a love/hate relationship with Grantland. Some great sports writing for sure but the way they pay so much attention to movies, TV and pop culture in general delves into self-parody territory.
