Maybe it's the lack of good indie electronics stores in Ottawa but I still can't think of one that would let you do this that also didn't move such low volume that you pay a ridiculous markup in the price. It just sounds like one of those advice things that everyone suggests but no one actually does.

I've heard this advice but has anyone actually gone through with it? Last time I was shopping for a TV at Best Buy (et al) none of the TVs had players hooked up to them and I imagine asking someone to do that for you, and then hook it up to each successive TV would get you a strong "pain in the ass" look. Not to mention that 2 TVs side by side can have different colour settings. Obviously don't buy something that looks like crap but I've never found comparing TVs in that setting to be totally reliable either.

No, it's a reality check. Stealing mp3s is wrong no matter how you spin it. Just because you spend a lot of money on the live music industry doesn't give you the right to steal the studio material. If free downloading leads you to a new artist then what's so hard about picking up the CD the next time you're near an HMV? Or downloading it from iTunes? Am I perfect? No, but I've already seriously curtailed my free downloading with a monthly Napster subscription and by buying CDs of artists I enjoy. The recording industry can't put the genie back in the bottle but we don't have to be such assholes about it.

Guilty as charged. I was just curious if BOC saw my objection as having anything to do with his statement: "Those who live differently from the mainstream society are wrong and in fact they are a threat." I think to reduce opposition debate to something as simple as that does neither side any good. So I wanted to know what BOC was reacting to exactly.

I forgot that they usually give reissues an automatic 10.0 but I don't want to count those. I just think the decimal is funny after "10", as if 10.1 is a possible rating. I will have to check out that Big Boi disc for comparisons sake.

I think it's one of those "statement" ratings. Did they give anything else a 10.0 (love the decimal precision) this year?
