  1. I'm a sucker for cool gear. Peter just borrowed one of these for the tour. What a killer guitar... like a 335 but with a smaller body. Check out the back story on it here... http://www.gibson.com/allaccessfeatures.aspx?aliaspath=/AllAccess/Kiefer%20Sutherland_%20The%20Gibson
  2. Amy Winehouse. Love her voice and sound, and try not to pay too much attention to the lyrics. Funny story... when I was in Austin I was waiting in line to get into the Stax review show. While we were there, some english folks cut in front of us. We were pretty pissed, as we'd been in line for a while and it looked like theyt might get in and we wouldn't. Then someone from the club came out and said no one was getting in. Our bassist Doug said to me "That sucks, but at least those fuckers who cut in line didn't get in either." When I got home later that week, I was reading Rolling Stone and saw a picture of Amy Winehouse and realized it was her who cut in front of me. Ha!!

    Bass Gear...

I recommend ACOUSTIC amps all the way. My two main bass players play them - amazing sound. You can find the heads for anywhere from $200 and up. http://acoustic.homeunix.net/twiki/bin/view/Acoustic/WebHome I owned this head, and I greatly regret selling it.

    Dutch Crunch

Yes! A teasure from the West. Old Dutch chips were only until recently found in Thunder Bay and West of that, and the Jalapeno Cheddar flavour is the BEST chip out there.
  11. Ah Jeez. [color:purple]Way to go Mike. We've got nothing but respect and appreciation for all those involved in helping bring good music and good times to the masses in the form of the Evolve festival. I can't even describe the admiration I have for Joe, Jonas and Jimmy... and any of the promoters out there who take a chance on us bands and stick with us through shit and sunshine. Things don't always go the way we all plan them to, but luckliy we've got a good community of friends and family who stick it out and do their best to continue on with the struggle of being a musician and promoting music. What's personal is personal. Our shit is getting worked out and doesn't belong here. These guys are our friends, and if anything our patience and understanding is testament to that. Evolve deserves no bashing!! Best of luck with this year's festival. Brazilian girls and Lotus are awesome! And hey! - there we are at the 2nd Evolve in the picture in Jay's initial post! Jeff
  12. Ooooh ohhhh.... I'm quite due for a Southern Comfort evening. Shall we on the 20th Mark?

  15. Just released... I just bought it on iTunes and it's fuckin killer. Here's a press release I found... Press Release : PERCUSSION MEETS HAMMOND AS TWO THIRDS OF MEDESKI MARTIN AND WOOD TAKE TIME OUT TO COLLABORATE Billy Martin and John Medeski celebrate their near twenty year long musical relationship by releasing a duets album entitled, MAGO. The album features Martin on drums & Medeski on Hammond B3 organ. MAGO was recorded in July 2006 over two days and was produced by Martin. The first and last tracks are expansive free-flowing spontaneous compositions they do with such grace and passion, but the majority of the tracks are filled with head-nodding booty-shaking grooves that only they could have created. As natural collaborators, Martin and Medeski have recorded, produced and toured with countless musicians of all genres, and vowed to record together as a duo prior to the inception of their highly successful trio Medeski Martin and Wood (MMW). "What I remember most about our first duet session was that Medeski would go anywhere musically no matter how unusual or challenging," says Martin. "He was right there with me and ready to humbly serve the music we make together." Billy Martin and John Medeski first heard of each other through mutual friend and mentor Bob Moses. In the mid-80's Martin had been working with Moses in NYC. Moses then moved to Boston to teach at New England Conservatory and ended up working with Medeski as teacher-student-band mates. Once during a Moses gig in Boston, Martin took the drum chair for one song. Medeski noticed the drumming style was something different and afterwards came back stage to meet Martin. Martin invited him to his Brooklyn loft the next time Medeski would be in New York. Not long after that brief encounter Medeski rang. They played duets for a couple hours, going through every and any means of musical communication possible, including vocal chanting. This was primarily an organ/drum set-up, but what followed were many other sessions, which included bassist Chris Wood, and Medeski Martin and Wood was born. MAGO is a celebration of Martin and Medeski's first meeting and something they like to do on occasion, but don't get much time to share.

  20. Did Martin do more singing at Massey Hall? At the shoe he said he was saving his voice for Friday and that Thursday was more for the other guys stuff. His speaking voice alone was pretty raspy. Great show Thursday, glad I caught it. Good to see a few folks as well.
